Breaking the 0 post barrier

Or is it the 1st post barrier? If you think about it like "breaking the sound barrier" is traveling faster than the speed of sound, then breaking the 0 post barrier would be having more than 0 posts, which would make sense. BUT if this imaginary barrier has an infinitesimal width, and it's only possible to exist on either side of it, then wouldn't having 1 post mean I broke the 1st post barrier? If not then what state am I in right now with 1 post? Am I in a place of limbo between 0 and 1 and will break the 1 post barrier when I have 2 posts? Or am I in limbo between 1 and 2 posts? If so where did the 1st post barrier go?

I have concluded...It was a bad idea to use "barrier" to describe post numbers. I blew my own mind and ranted on about nothing. This is why I hid all of this. I seriously think people would just click BACK when they see all this text.

Hello! I'm a 21 year old female that's been lurking for the better part of a year now, and I don't even remember when I discovered this site. I was finally driven to register a few days ago when guest viewing was closed to save bandwidth. And for which I felt really guilty, like I'm stealing the bandwidth spot reserved for someone that posts and contributes regularly.

I would like to add here that when the forum was down I had a miserable day with nothing to procrastinate to. I went to INTPCentral to relieve the withdrawal symptoms and it made my day even more miserable. I hope I never have to do that again.

Anyway, sorry for the lame name. I was so excited that the forums were back up but agitated that I can't see the posts until I register, that I just typed in the first thing that came to mind. I had just come home from jogging at the track. I really enjoy spending my time here when I have something urgent due, and I have great respect for a lot of the members for being so open minded to each other's ideas. That changed a LITTLE when I discovered the Inner Sanctum after registering, but just a little. I thought I would be really honored if these people (hopefully) acknowledged my existence and finally drove myself to make an introduction.

(Ugh sorry I know the run-on sentences and parentheses are running rampant, and I will use the "English is my 2nd language" excuse when necessary. Plus its a nice pun...I read nobody's post.)

I would say 'Welcome to the forums,' but you've been here longer than I have. I had a similar problem to your 'post barrier' when I first had to make histograms. Perhaps you broke the < 1 post barrier?

Anyway I look forward to getting to know you.

Very nice .gif btw.

Neat. We must turn it off more frequently.

Nah, we look after our own first, *heavily*

*goes into mystical ecstasy of Boer preacher/commandant, with a latinate name, discussing defensive modes: "Whe shell form the laager ! Gether the oxen wherein vey shell trample out the holy grain God hes given ess as a covenant !! End the enbeliever shell not pass !!! Hold fast the guns, ageinst the Canaanite and the Amalekite alike, my little ones, in the neme if Jesus end his righteous congregation here below !!!!"*

but anyone who doesn't want to join is still welcome to read. Myself, I prefer lurkers to complete non-posters.

Ran is fine, but we do offer a name-changing facility next to the ladies rooms if ever wanted by members.

Anyway, welcome. Keep posting. Everyone should make at least 10 threads a year. Theoretically that would give us around 15,000 extra threads. Which in turn would mean we'd have to turn off the guest viewing more often; leading to more people registering; leading to them making threads at an exponential rate, leading to the viewing being turned off, leading to... you get the idea.

Eventually we would have to march on Moscow in an urge to destroy ourselves.

Hi Ran. I was thinking of Kurosawa's Ran till I read your post. Really, there was no need to unveil the mystery. :D

We're so incredibly well behaved in the Inner Sanctum, aren't we? Hope to see you there soon, beheading your fav... er, least liked forum member.

Welcome.

Which still applies to being the 0 post barrier, right? I thunk myself into a corner :(

I was afraid of this. I am sorry to all the guest viewers reading this. You're going to finally have to over-come the INTP fear of taking action and make a move to register sooner or later. OH the agony of exposing yourself to the interweb! I'm still trembling in the aftershocks.

I looked it up and decided that's definitely a better alternative. I shall adopt it and no one will be the wiser :phear:

I love the name... I love the cheetah... I love it when cute little lurkers break their shield of invisibilty and come bounding into our arms - bowling us over with affection, wet licky tongues and canines the size of small daggers... all sweaty and breathless and hot ...and cute. Did I mention cute?

Somewhere in the fine print of my contract it stipulates my sole purpose here is to post third-rate innuendo and/or violence. But you'll soon figure that out. There are others that haunt the Inner Sanctum you'd do well to be more wary of. :phear:

*pours ice water over Ran's head* Alas, so much for the warm welcomes but now you are baptized.

Thank you for this :D I'm not sure if I get all of it but I know I get small highs when people communicate in metaphors and symbolisms.

And Anthile: Still a welcome nevertheless! You took the time to reply

Alas, I'm sounding too nice and grateful. I'm usually pretty sarcastic and mean I assure all of you.

hello Ran. and welcome.

Am I the only person who is driven senseless by the fact that the 'spoiler' tab says 'dispay' instead of 'display'?

Having said that - I really enjoyed the use of the spoiler there to record your inner ramblings - I rather wish I could have something similar IRL - it would make things so much easier.

oh shi-! "Dispay"? Like... receiving something, rather than paying for it? Something for nothing? That's kinda what hitting the 'dispay' button is like.

so in the tradition of forgetting about 'L's:
Wecome!

No. However it is a French hack, and we always extend especial tolerance to the French lest they develop an inferiority complex.

My intuition tells me that will never happen. Or maybe it's my experience with them. ;)

Indeed it would! Sometimes I actually ramble out loud and even my closest friends stare at me. It'd be nice to have a "If you think you care then click to debate my ramblings with me" button

Also, I'd like to say that you are one of my favorite posters on INTPforum :D Thank you

I'll take the elegant with a pinch of chase scene and a dash of monologue stir fried with some sniper gun action and dramatic glass shatterings on the side please

The wired
"If you think you care then click to debate my ramblings with me" would make a nice T-shirt.

Hopefully, once we live in a wholly virtual environment, it would actually exist.

I think I'm gonna start putting all my inane rantings on spoiler tags here. The length of my posts would be ...err... significantly reduced.

Are you running after and/or running from unknowable things?

Both? I run away from emotionally charged people like my mom and after the awesome future I envision (with an express elevator to the moon perhaps)
