Short answer: Yes, but i matured and I get more work done without perfectionism completely hindering my efforts...

Long answer:To some extent It really annoys me when I finish things and realize later how much I wud be able to make better. Art, School, Music, video games, sports.. I don't like settling untill it's as good as It can be. Sometimes i get in over my head, and sometimes I hate making something i'll have to make half-heartedly, namely certain school assignments, that I am just way too uninterested in.

I'm usually perfectionist at many things, but as I found out, it's usually not useful to be as one, there are many things on which I'm not as things need to be done but I have not perfected.
I don't write poems any more.... I expect myself to use perfect vocabulary and when I do start to write ones with so called perfect vocabulary, they lose their power as these words are too dry to be used, they kill these poems from the start.
So yes, I am a perfectionist, and it limits me from doing some things as I cannot use my work before it seems perfect for me.

I would say I am a type of perfectionist....You see...When I do something I want it done perfectly. But if I know that I can't do something perfectly because I don't have the time or tools...I just don't do it at all. If I absolutely have to do something and I can't do it perfectly then I'll do it half assed, cuz wut's the point of trying when you know it's not going to be perfect anyways right? For some reason people think I'm lazy....go figure...

I'm too lazy to be called a perfectionist; but I'm severely anal about certain things. Mainly academic writing or anything I'm really interested in.

Perfectionists may be workaholics who cannot relax; people who reproach themselves for days after the smallest error, such as a word out of place; the person so intent on finding the perfect mate that they never settle down; the procrastinator; the finicky person; and so on. Perfectionists tend to be exceptionally sensitive to criticism.

I've been called a perfectionist before, but I don't always try and get everything perfect. If it's something I enjoy, then yes, I'll try to get it as close to perfect as possible, but if it's something I find boring, then I'll do as little as I possibly can get away with.

I think I read somewhere that one of the differences between INTJs and INTPs was that an INTJ would think of a system, and then create it, while the INTP would forever be building a perfect system in their heads, but never get around to actually doing it.

No. But I try to make things right if I see a better way to do it.

Yes, if it something that I find or see as useless or boring I will rush throuhg it, but most things I do I try to do it as well as I can on it, and sometimes spend hours on something that I don't care much for or is non benifetial to myself.

I call myself a selective perfectionist. The less I like it, the faster I'll rush through it. Along the way, I might find it isn't as bad as I thought and I'll slow down.

edit: scored 47 on the test ('perfectionist tendencies').

ANything but.

I always felt that was more of a J trait.

Us Intp's tend to have messy minds to match our surroundings.

Although, I suppose some things I do have to be perfect for soem people...

Outside your window.
I scored 58% on the second test (which earned me the title of perfectionist apparently).

I get stressed when I'm forced to make decisions before I've thought through each of the different possibilities. I'm always scared I'll set something in stone and not be able to reverse it. I often hand in assignments late because I've spent way too much time researching (or sometimes changing my topic half way through). I've always got ideas in my head of how it could be awesome and it's kind of upsetting to know that it will probably never happen.

I'm not really a perfectionist, I'm a big supported of the philosophy of half-assism. There are certain things though that I want to achieve perfection in.

For example, I despise seeing weakness in myself and so I do everything i can to force myself to become strong. I want to acheive such a state of mental strenght that I will be able to stand firm no matter what force I come up against.

I used to get really angry about other people not doing things right, even while I half-assed my way through life. Writing it makes it seems really arogant, but I still feel that my half-assed work was better than their hard work.

Then I learned to juggle. When you are learning to juggle, and you never stop learning you just move one to the next thing, you're always dropping stuff. In a performance this is bad, but in practice if you'er not dropping stuff then you're not learning. Somehow I have adopted this belief, that if your 're not dropping stuff you're not learning, to be about all of life at all times. I think it has to do with my belief that life exists to learn stuff. In any event, I no longer seem to care if others fail to meet my expectations, and I don't care about people willing to think me a failure based on one such act. No perfectionism for me, thanks.

No, not unless I really begin to be interested in something-- then I'm a perfectionist, but that only happens about once a month or less often. Otherwise I get whatever it is over with as quickly as possible, even if that means barely getting it done at all. Most of the time, things I choose to be exacting over are stories or drawings, too-- things I really care about.

I keep tweaking songs I write because I always think I can make them better. This isn't good when you need to have a portfolio of completed songs for your course.

Not so much doing it, but finishing it. I can whip up a software system just fine, but it won't be finished until I stop seeing ways to improve it, or the time and effort it would take is so great that laziness takes over.

As an ISTJ, I would consider the typical INTP approach to this problem to be impractical. What I usually do is think of the most viable solution, implement it, optimise if necessary, and then iron out the bugs. It's just a matter of getting it done as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Usually, I spend most of my time on the second stage (implementation). If I'm unable to get past the first stage (thinking), I either consider a different approach or simply abandon the project in favour of something more productive.

Let's face it, IXTJs rule. ;P

I think that INTP's go into greater depth to reach solutions. I think that they create good systems because they spend so much time tuning their system.

That's me! I keep having new ideas for drawings and starting new ones instead of finishing the old ones. I needed to get a portfolio together as an entry requirement to my chosen college course, too.

@Ulysses: J productivity is just a fancy way of compensating for the lack of Pness. :p It depends on your priorities, though: Ti is generally content to say "This concept is sound, and I could do this if I were so inclined" without feeling the need to actually do it. If an INTP thinks they're capable of something, then in their mind, they've done the important bit: actually proving it is a minor detail. Ne's tendency to see new and shiny possibilities everywhere doesn't help, either. Reading your post, my NP reaction is that you rush into implementation without thinking things through properly. You face it: xNxPs pwn all other types. (Even if half of them (the Es) won't get that 'pwn'... they'll probably pronounce it with a 'p' sound...*sigh*)
