Strangely, very few posters indicated an age of 25-35.

I just went through the whole thread to make sure I didn't pull a Kidege ;)

I am 28. I have noticed a bit of a shortage of Generation X'ers on the forum. I was born right at the cut off, so I wonder if there's some reason for that.

22. I feel like I've been in my mid twenties mentally for ages though. At 14 I was debating philosophy and pointing out fallacies in argument on the internet, reading books like Atlas Shrugged and Moby Dick, etc.

Not much has really changed since then now that I think about it.

I've asked the "color question" many, many times. I actually got a few decent answers, but eventually concluded that it was simply subjective and that really I should be considering the light wave if I wanted to be analytical about it.

I used to try to imagine glowing black. Or UV light.

I'm 17.

And being completely honest, I never really considered myself smarter or more "mature" than other people, and whenever I started to or start to, I always remember the vast number of incredibly stupid things I have done and had to rely on someone else to fix.

It's kind of funny seeing people who I always thought of as being higher up on the intellectual scale post there age and actually being younger than me.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I have my moments, but I would never fit the position of being the "smart guy" in any kind of group.

INTP's are thinkers, and it is true that I am constantly thinking of lots of things that come off as interesting (which is a lot). But most of the times, everything that I find interesting really has no practical use, so I just end up going into deep thought on something completely useless and it really doesn't make me smarter, it just tends to pass the time.

Okay this post has gone on far too long......

Color question being... "Does everyone else see colors in the same way i do (More hue, saturation, levels?)". That's my color question.

I'm 17.

^I always think that. I've also come to a conclusion, that we probably do not.

Mostly because when I close one eye, the colors are faded, when I close the other, they are super vivid and what I'd consider is probably normal. It's not a huge difference, but it is noticeable. If I can have such disparity in my own vision, why wouldn't there be disparity amongst my fellow man? :D

Haha, yes! I was musing over this idea more and i thought about the differences of taste every human has.

I was also wondering how a cat could play a keyboard.

When I close both of my eyes, I lose the faculty of sight. Is this phenomenon exclusive to me or is it an INTP thing?

My presumption is that I am seeing my blood vessels and such, it's like a mix of black and red when I do that. A really neat glow ^_^

My 60+ grandpa is extremely silly, but also incredibely smart. He released a lot of books and articles about extremely complicated physics stuff. It sounds more complicated than any stuff I have ever seen or heard about :storks:

I am 15 although I want to know if anyone notice this since english is my third language so there might have been differences between my writings and that of other teens on this site.

I should be a drooling vegetable somewhere in my mid 40's.

I AM a drooling vegetable in my mid forties..... You can wish me "happy mid-life crisis" this coming Sunday!

In answer to what some others have said, I'm not sure if we get sillier as we get older but I do know my 'care factor' (what others think of me) went into rapid decline after I turned 40...

I worked with a guy in his 50's when I was just eighteen. I still remember him saying I sounded like a forty year old when we had 'deep and meaningful' conversations....

If I was already "forty" when I was eighteen then I'd be the equivalent of 72 now (yikes!).... but if the older=sillier concept proves true, then I'm probably more like a teenager than some of you whipper snappers on here.

I'm both the oldest and youngest here.

Oldest in terms of calanders I've had to throw away(41) and youngest in terms of maturity. I think the older we INTPs get, the sillier we get. I can think of reasons why this might be so.

Anyways, I enjoy the words of wisdom from everyone here but I really do wish you whippersnappers would get the hell off my lawn.

Probably because we figure out that, when you boil it all down, life is too damned screwy to be "srs business".

I'm 20, so I still have a nagging hopeful resolution that reason will prevail, the stupid will learn, and that the space aliens will come and show us all their cool video games when they sniff our photons. I know, however, that perhaps another 20 years will reveal the reluctant reality of how humans to the same old shit with new toys, of how idiots will always be a percentile, and of how the extra terrestrials will probably sigh, turn around, and leave me here. That realization, thankfully, logically brings about the relaxing conclusion that "History is nothing new", and "The smart ones are rare gems, cherish them".

Also, though the aliens may leave, infinity should have plenty enough interesting to explore. :D

It's too bad the poll isn't dynamic, calculating current age over time.

You can't specify your age, so that's technically impossible.

It could still be dynamic with an age bracket(probabilistic calculation), but I was thinking more like: people privately enter a month & year in the poll(or use the signup one), and then it just calculates that as time goes on, keeping the month & year private but displaying the age.

I guess it's pointless to keep the year private, but if the day was factored in then that could be private along with the month.

Have you noticed that most of the voters aren't around anymore, almost 4 years after this thread has been created? I wonder if people grow out of things as forums.

INTPs just accumulate too many hobbies as they age, and checking forums gets pushed out by...cooler things. Oh, and when you get married, you have less time to yourself. Forum browsing is not exactly a "together" activity.

I just turned 30 this year and my current hobbies are (these all change monthly):
- Rockhounding
- Fixing my house
- Planning next year's garden (it's gonna be awesome)
- Programming
- Longing for the days when I had more time to play video games
- Looking for a video game my wife might want to play for more than 5 minutes
- Cooking
- Finishing the sword I started making 3 years ago
- Rebuilding my workshop (gotta fix the house first)
- Board games
- looking for that perfect 300 acre property so I can finally build my castle.

Im 16 and I believe that overexposure to society can cause one to lose cognitive ability. This explains why adults can often seem to me incredibly stupid, especially those of lesser types.
