I'm looking for something to read

The books I could relate to best, or so I thought, are Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes and Dying Inside by Robert Silverberg.

Unfortunately, I read these books many years ago, for the first time. I've returned to those books time and time again over those past few years.

I haven't been able to find a book like that since.

Perhaps I should elaborate. The sort of characters I can really relate to are those intelligent, wasted types. You know, the types who know they're intelligent but basically give up on life.

So, any recomendations? Thanks.

I am a self-proclaimed well-read person, and I can easily and honestly say that this is the best book I've ever read. This is the closest thing to literary perfection that I've ever encountered in my life.

Nonfiction/Philosophy:
Leviathan - Thomas Hobbes

Interesting theories, a good basis for every political argument you will ever make for the rest of your life. I read this when I was young, and it has provided a framework to organize my thoughts. I can attribute a great deal of my current reputation (as a writer/debater) in school to this book.
