What is your 'dream'? What is your ideal vision of something you'd like to happen to you in this lifetime?

Martin Luther King had a dream, do you member of INTPFORUM, do you have a dream?

Is your dream to get 500 more posts before you die?

My dream is to see stonehenge, machu pichu, epic forests, to see the sun rise and sun set on every continent, and to just travel a lot... and meet THE ONE

dun dun dun

What is your dream INTP, besides world domination.. and meeting your favorite anime characters IRL

Mastery over the human body.

i.e. everything from stopping ageing and curing cancer, to growing new body parts, to being able to manipulate physical attributes.

Stopping ageing should be relatively easy, the hard part would be overcoming the limited memory of the human brain. It would probably require someone to stick a hard drive in my head.

It's strange that you posted this now, as I was thinking about this just yesterday.

I am lost. I know nothing. But I am searching.
I guess that means I am living my dream.

Virtual Reality Hentai would also do me well.

(And now that I've actually read the thread.) I don't know too much about this, but on the subject of defeating aging:

There's a "buffer" zone on the ends of our strands of DNA. In consequence of multiplying, as part of the process required really, we lose some of that buffer zone every time a cell in our body divides, if only a tiny amount. Once that buffer zone is depleted, a cell can no longer multiply, and dies off.

This, of course, happens differently for each TYPE of cell, as they all replenish themselves at different frequencies. To defeat aging, one must first reroute this fundamental principle of cell growth, along with, I'm sure, numerous other obstacles we would find after that.

I vote new android bodies!

Be here when The Singularity occurs, assuming it does. Afterwards get uploaded into virtual space instead of disappearing.

It just comes down to understanding the processes and figuring out how to control them, we could either achieve it by altering the process to work indefinitely or by simply replacing old tissue physically from time to time. The major stepping stone will be building computers capable of replicating biological chemistry on a large enough scale. I'm sure that such computers will come long before computers that can reproduce a human mind. Hence I'm fairly sure that reaching the full potential of our current bodies will occur long before we are able to create superior models.

Socialist technocratic one world government. Space colonization. Cure for cancer. Basically, the human race finally waking the fuck up and start putting the universe in its place.

My dream is to experience alot of different cultures, to meet all kinds of people whom can give me insight on myself.

And I second what Moon said as well. I really want to see space colonization. "Real" colonization. Not just 1 dude on a single space station.

My dream is to create something amazing and then roll up in a ball and sleep. Or at least come up with something amazing and leave an outline. And then sleep.

I really just want to have time to sleep, it seems.

Exactly! Which is why I simply stated the obstacles I know of, rather than give them in the form of "This is impossible because,". It's also why I used the word 'reroute' rather than 'defeat', as I'm sure our DNA came to be this way for a matrix of reasons that we have to understand and account for as we search for our desired result (To live longer).

I'm sure that such computers will come long before computers that can reproduce a human mind. Hence I'm fairly sure that reaching the full potential of our current bodies will occur long before we are able to create superior models.

I agree, though I'm sure once nanite technology gets off the ground, the two concepts will be nearly indistinguishable.

The most feasible way of attaining immortality (thus far) is to have your skull detached from your body (with brain inside) and put on artificial life support, in other words you need to oxygenate and put nutrients into the blood entering the brain and filter the blood coming out, thus creating a life supporting cycle. So far this is entirely possible with the technology we have today (although it would be very expensive) now the hard part is establishing reliable connections to the brain so that it can effectively be "wired up" to an artificial body, like the full body prosthetics in GitS, except I'd keep the brain in one location with dozens of back-up systems to ensure its life support cannot fail, while interacting with the world via a remote controlled "proxy" android body.

In the long term various drug treatments, or the periodic introduction of stem cells, could prolong the brain's lifespan for maybe a hundred years or so, after which I assume technology will be sufficiently advanced for consciousness to be extracted without breaking continuity, i.e. nanobots replace the neurons one by one over a period of months so that the mind never ceases to “be”.

Yes this is one of my dreams, to secure my existence.

I disagree, strong AI is about 5 years away.
You don't have to simulate the exact mechanics if you understand the principles behind them...

My dream, apparently, is to find something I value enough to be a dream. I couldn't honestly think of something I want to attain more than anything else, so I figure my dream must be to find that thing. :slashnew:

Are you referring to the zeitgeist movement/venus project?

I want to spend a period of time in the amazon taking ayahuasca and opening my mind to the beautiful implicit knowledge and wisdom that it offers. from near death experience to mystical and religious ecstasy, ayahuasca sounds like my friend and partner in life.

I'm not talking about AI, I specifically mean a computer capable of having a complete human mind uploaded into it.
