I just realised I don't have a hobby :/

I used to paint and draw quite a lot, but since I started studying, I haven't really had much creative energy. All my effort goes into learning which is kind of a hobby in itself, although I don't enjoy the pressure and deadlines.

Like Boobz I used to climb rocks when I wasn't busy analysing their mineral structure, or origin. I really like to go cross-country skiing, but it is obviously difficult in Australia. I like walking in the bush, I enjoy camping and studying nature and animals. Pretty much what I have done all my life, so I wouldn't call it a hobby, more just what I am, or what I always have been drawn to. Because I have these interests, I have never really felt like I needed a hobby.

I started learning the violin for a while and that was great, but the lessons cost too much and I didn't have enough time to practice. I have decided to learn to play Banjo after I finish my studies this year, because not having a creative outlet does affect my sense of calm.

Good for you. Let's form a club of INTP's who don't have hobbies, or don't have many.

I used to have lots, photography, music, writing, reading, art, various forms of industrial food production (artisan bread, I learned to make tofu in Japan, etc), hiking so on and so forth. Now I just have computer related hobbies (programming, hacking, surfing, games) and music (playing a grand piano and listening). And I barely do music.

Yes
My main hobby (designing buildings) is also my full time job.
Outside of that:
- cooking
- scuba diving
- yacht racing
- guitaring
- computering
- coffeeing
- misc designing
- weightlifting
- fishing
- video gaming
- boozing

And on the more obscure end of the spectrum, I play a social game called Werewolf.

For about 2 months a year, I obsessively try to learn a new language and then get bored of it and forget everything.

Then when I've got a bit of downtime, I visit this forum, but that doesn't happen often...

When I've figured out how the whole 'saving money' thing works, I intend to put travel back on that list, but until then, I'm just going to remain poor.

Currently a bit hobbyless. I am rather artistic. I like photography. In the past I have fallen into large blocks of time of sewing, freestyle, and I might again soon. Stained glass, also in in and out in blocks of time.

Genealogy pretty steadily. I'm an excellent skip trace, I've bought a lot of property that way.

Chess. Singing, tho I really don't have anyplace/reason to do it.

Weights, body sculpt and I need to return to doing something physical, thinking of stretching and walking to start - tho I know it will bore me.

I grow about 400 hosta. I'm thinking about turning a barn into a house.

I'm an advocate for Epilepsy. I'm not sure I'd call it a hobby, it's more of an obligation. 1) My son has a world class case of it. 2) Most people who are speaking out about it are uninformed/incompetent and are glory seekers. 3) I am behind the scenes offering data and statistics and the science of it. 4) I don't enjoy it but since I have the knowledge I must.

I LOVE dogs, and other animals. Right now I have more than I enjoy, but at least they aren't homeless.

When I was younger I did like to write, it seems that ability is done. Reading anything historical or detective/mystery is good.

I mow a vast amount of lawn/acres with a zero turn. This year I cut patterns into including crop circles. I was a big hit. Next year I was wondering if I do celtic knots.

-rock climbing
-yoga
-National Geographic magazines
- Movies and TV shows
-My cat
- My parents made me play the violin from age 3-18. I can't say I've ever truly enjoyed it, but I've wasted enough if my life practicing it, so I do gigs sometimes for good money.
-Theres a book by Charles C. Mann called 1493. It's an amazing book and everyone should read it.
- I like to keep my bookshelf organized. I stack the books vertically instead of horizontally in order to fit more. I've changed the actual order of books over the years.

Hobbies to relax in no particular order
1. Working out
2. Racing motorcycle on track days around road course
3. Snowboarding in winter time
4. Anything the kids want to do we always have fun
5. Odd hobby but I enjoy taking vacation by myself and getting a corvette or something faster to race around the city. Get a high end suite usually with 2-3 bedroom and marble floors. I did that in Orlando last time I was down there. Then I would work on some stuff for work and got to the pool. I had a great time. Got so much work done too

Have you ever been involved in reenactments?

Oh, sure, used to help organize some of the more hardcore ones, now just a participant in all kinds. Hardcore = heavy on actual history and period technology and skills. EG no air mattresses, coolers, Lost Cause myths, etc.

My blog on reenacting/living history. "How to" make it more realistic. As a card-carrying INTP, I am of course most interested in the processes and principles. :D
