So what if you find him annoying or arrogant? What if he has a point? Why should the person detract from the message?* Shouldn't we be beyond ego? In my experience pride, especially when hurt, just gets in the way. But excessive insecurity is problematic as well.
*I think they can't be totally separated, but equating the two seems a mistake as well.
It's the fact that the guy came here with absolutely no basis for his conclusions. How does he know what any of us have done with our lives. Especially the older ones. No one here even knows what I do for a living these days. It's because I've never said what I do and don't feel inclined to do so now. So how does he know? He doesn't. He's just being a self-righteous dick. Plain and simple. It's like if you went up to a group of strangers and started telling them that you are better than them without knowing anything about them to make such judgements. No imagine you did that without telling this group of strangers what it is you do that makes you so high and mighty.
I'll say it again, he is just being a dick. Which is fine, we've all been from time to time. But we can also call him on it and jump down his throat so to speak when we do.
