Work is consuming me

It's literally consuming me. Like, my desk grew a mouth and bit off my hand just this morning.

INTPs are ill equipped for this world.

This world is built for STJs.

The ironic thing is that, it [everything] is designed by INTPs.

It's like Einstein figured out his famous equation but he can't match his socks.

I've off wondered if I now use INTP as a crutch-- an excuse to chase my dreams and do whatever I want. Whenever I'm forgetful, spacey, get fired from a job, I blame it on INTP.

Having 6 jobs in the last three years has taught me a lot though. For the most part, it's taught me how to not give a shit about getting fired.

The first time sucked really bad. The last time, I was looking at my watch wondering when he was gonna do it.

I'll have to say that an entrepreneur is by definition crazy.

The world doesn't need any more of this or that. If anything we need less. Less services, less prouducts. Live a simpler life.

And seems like there's another billion dollar startup each day.

You're crazy if you think the world needs another one of whatever you're thinking of building.

Yet I went and did it again.

This time I can say that it's motivated by a very pathological sense of "I can't stand being told what to do."

So either I'm crazy, too entitled, INTP, or all of be above.

I work hard because I'm lazy.

I'm full of inconsistencies.

I really despise working.

Are you asking a question or having a rant, hoping someone will run with it?

Either is good, I just wanna know how to tackle it :)

I like it as a rant.

Sounds similar to my work history.

I'll take it as opportunity for a critique.

Your problem is that you didn't work hard enough to pick the right job.

If it must be one or the other, then rant.

I prefer to instead raise a 3rd category for consideration: pure art

Sometimes you take your paintbrush and just start with no purpose in mind.

I think rants are motivated by stress.

I moreso am simply a classic INTP who needs to write out my thoughts sometimes in order to understand them.

And I like to think my craft is writIng

So therefore anything I write is art.

Sometimes it is shitty art.

But I've been researching "sentence length" as it correlates negatively with reader comprehension.

Now I think I just naturally am able to write for my audience.
Kind of like how a rapper is able to rap without thinking too much about it.

Is there some template going on?

Every small framework, startup company, software, or what have you follows that exactly template.

Someone needs to make a new one.

Yeah, the fact that you are an INTP is hindering you. You can't run a business. You need a small job so you can spend your free time thinking of random shit to tote as brilliance.

You're mostly right but no one will listen.

Not until it's too late, usually. For good reason. Too caught up in their own thing. It wouldn't be so bad if you found a proper crutch for it. However, the world is getting overpopulated.

True INTPs are more often than not outdated for this world but it can work to advantage. About one INTP per group or workforce would be good, and especially more so if it could play its role to objective efficiency. There is just some aspect of people, which allows them to create an impossibly high standard for INTPs to deliver to them. This makes it seem like they want other crew to fill the role, usually more hardworking men or people who demonstrate it and make good first impression. You only get one chance. You have to get along with the group, doesn't matter what type you are. You need to talk to them and show you understand people, and can relate to them. This isn't so important nowadays as consciousness develops, and people naturally resort to weed out strategy.

People are wrong a lot but that's more of a different topic, in its relation to society and the world built for SJs. Someday this will change.

Unfortunately, you need work. You just have to be lucky or talented enough to gain it. Laziness rarely pays off, unless you're already successful, then you can be leisurely. However, this kind of thing has no value in the modern world. It's a simple trick. Hopefully you can manage to find your calling and work there so it seems like you aren't actually working. Whatever this change is, hopefully we see it in my lifetime.

It taught you how to not give a shit about getting fired? I think it should have taught you how to keep jobs...

As a general note, these are all attempts at rationalizing sloppy living. "Einstein this and that"... fyi, Einstein was no. 1 in everything he cared about, from the moment he started in elementary school.

sloppy?

okay. I'll agree with you.

but I can build efficient systems, real world or database. What the hell is that worth?

my laundry pile won't look organized.

But I can tell you that I can build a clean business. I just wouldn't want to maintain it.

Seriously. I've been fired once, and that was for admitting to violating a company policy 6 months prior to the date and the manager pissed off all my coworkers because I was one of the best workers at the job. Every job has interesting facets that you can dig into and make more efficient. Caring even a little is 10x better than most people in the world, and it improves your work experience and performance as much. Unless your boss doesn't care, and in that case find somewhere else or take their job.

INTP's work just fine. Stop thinking about yourselves as some super genius that needs to solve all the world's problems and understand everything, and humble yourselves. INTP's are so full of unwarranted pride about being outsiders, and smarter than everyone, and all the shit will never discover or never create. This pride seems to be one of the biggest sources of INTP depression. It hinders you from seeing a realistic perspective and causes SJ hate and other absurd ways to blame others and not yourself.

The happiest people don't always have the best but they do the best with what they have. Humility is good for those of strong intellect.

I've been fired a ton of times and am looking into work that won't drive me mad. I am a finance guy so most of the entry level jobs available to me require short term results, but I am a long range thinker. Simply put, my abilities are useless in the field until some top economist or finance guru (whoever wrote the best selling self help/get rich book that year) is contracted to boost efficiency with a long range scheme and I don't keep a job long until then. As I've posted on another thread. Try some mindless labor where you can think about whatever you want whilst performing your job. Explore whatever ideas or projects you come up with on the side until you can make a living off them. That's the route I'm going to take. I've had 3 jobs since march and have quit multiple before officially starting because I knew they wouldn't pan out. I get deja vu when some of these people call me in for a interview and I know how the conversation is going to go and basically submit my resignation before joining. My favorite jobs I've had thus far were Lifeguarding at an apartment complex (I basically read and played guitar through the summers while guessing who couldn't swim or when certain regulars would arrive and leave) and un-installing vending machines for a college roommates family company (involved 10 hr days at gas stations taking apart and readying machines for shipping to a new test market). I don't know if this helps, but here you are. Free of charge :)
