why is it hard finding info for INTP females?

I tried looking on online for some information about INTP females but havent had much luck. Once i found out i was a INTP by taking the personality hacker test ive kind of been obsessed with personalities and trying to find out the most information. Its sad though because it seems alot sources about MBTI personalities ive read online generalized some personalities too much making them sound very similar, if almost not the same because those little details can make a big difference. but anyways im curious about my fellow INTP females . Where you at?

btw im a INTP female

because almost all women are feelers because that's what evolution has required of them within their work domain as compared to males

INTP female here. Hai, welcome to the forum. :3

Like bronto said, human females are generally equipped to be more sensitive than males and the emotional side of that sensitivity isn't congruent with the INTP stereotype. Henceforth, less INTPs with vaginas. :kodama1:

there is a large underevaluation of Feeling about the MBTI tests - both in how test items are phrased (feeling is sometimes equated to some kind of arbitrary dumb impulse when it's pretty much just another analytical framework with other priorities; thinking can be just as out-of-the-blue and feeling can be just as demonstrable) and, i suspect, in a general devaluation and repression of female traits and values.

Canada, eh?
I believe I read they make up the smallest % of the population when factoring in gender and the 16 types.

Am suddenly very impressed with myself.

In all seriousness, I don't know why. There are plenty of females when it comes to other thinking types , but it seems to be less common for INTPs. Although there are definitely some lurking around on the internet. Myself included.

As the others said, females are, culturally, expected to be relatively sensitive. There must be something wrong with INTP females for us to turn out this way. :D

Shrug.

I know what the "rules" for women are, but I'm not inclined to necessarily follow them. Typical female response often seems excessive to me.

Nor am I much fond of babies. They're kind of cute for three minutes, but they have a deplorable inability to articulate cogent thought or set things on fire.

cut them some slack, you're being way too hard on them imo

Dammit, if that baby hasn't even read core Wittgenstein, I have no desire to engage.

No. The infj male is rarest, followed by the intj female.

FYI the T/F split for females is generally considered 40%/60%. It's not even, but to call t-females 'rare' is utterly ridiculous.

Am suddenly very impressed with myself.

Why? Conflating usefulness with rarity is a major thought fallacy. 'Special' is frequently a friendly term for 'defective.' Indeed, this makes more sense to me given the obviously reduced fertility of NT females compared to more common types. Given that I don't care one bit about evolutionary strategy, I'm quite fond of being INTP, though I don't believe it has an inherent value compared to other types.

A need or desire to feel special in this regard, to me... could be suggestive of a differing type or perhaps youth.

Unrelated - why so many people on the Internet insist on calling women "females"? It makes me think that they're some zoologists from Mars who crawl around the streets and try to document the human mating rituals or something.

But go on. Nevermind me.

I agree about most woman being feelers I feel like it's a combination(45% biology and 55% environment ) of more environment then biology. It seems most most females pick that up by there mothers or grandmothers or what not. My mother is more a feeler than me but I feel like hers is slightly more less than other woman and maybe I would be slightly more in-tune with people's feelings. I'm trying to train my brain to think in certain situations insert this feeling here. And if someone's crying I don't really know how to comfort them. I need a manual like no joke step1. Pat there back gently step2. After exactly 2mins say in a low but not to low voice it's gonna be ok. Smh I mean of course I still have emotions and feelings im a human im friendly just not sensitive and I don't get offended easily over things my friends or family would. it's very hard for me to be friends with overly sensitive people especially guys.

Ultimately that is only an estimate which is based on a poorly designed questionnaire.

Well the mbti is poorly designed and Jung himself is more than a bit of a quack in my humble opinion. I've been here a really long time, but I stopped taking it seriously after the first few months or so.

It's somewhat useful for archetypal categorization of people... maybe :D

Is there any law yet about how type discussions eventually spiral into a "Jung was nuts and the MBTI don't mean shite anyways" comment?

If not, there should be.

Oh, to clarify, I was hinting at how poorly some questionnaires are at discerning one's "actual" type. :)

Hasn't really spiraled anywhere, Jenny.

I'm certainly not interested in making an extensive debate of it.

Oh, to clarify, I was hinting at how poorly some questionnaires are at discerning one's "actual" type. :)

Oh, to clarify, I was hinting that once you apply a modicum of rigorous analysis to any aspect, it all falls apart; so it becomes pointless to do so. :)

With regards to there being no scientific merit for Type... Just because they haven't found it, doesn't mean it's not there. Perhaps a topic for a different thread though.

I was thinking not of the term itself, but rather of its use - "male" and "female" appear to be out of place in a casual conversation when used as nouns.

One, you aren't INTP although you may be female

two, female INTPs are one of the rarest types, and can often be confused for many years as INFPs or even ISTPs. INTPs in general actually aren't even that rare.

It's a little difficult to find in depth information on quite a few different types, male or female, since only a few get any major focus. Most of the time they just try to hypothetically reach a framework by understanding one type and then shuffling the letters to get a different type, and then hypothesizing accordingly until it "makes sense". That and other types are typically not as important as some of the more uncommon ones.

INTP females, effectively, don't exist, and it really isn't worth the energy to seek them out. They're mostly hipsters or hanging out with the emo kids.

People need to stop being obsessed with "INTPs"

Perhaps because the doctrines state that gender is irrelevant to the end personality and so all holy word that speaks of INTP's refers to both those of the chest sack and crotch sack variety of worshipers.

(I.e There isn't any unique information pertaining to female INTP's that can't be applied to Males also. Nor should there be. I would find it kindof offensive...)

The only difference really is that the Western expectations for males and females can mean male and female INTPs can be culturally squeezed (and/or pressured by family) in slightly different ways. And maybe with dating non-INTPs, there can be cultural expectations for men and women that create different complications.

I just overheard my neighbor and her kids playing. I suppose there must have been a brother and sister, and their mother.

"No, your sister is not playing that game", ordered the mother. I think the boy asked why.

"Girls don't play games like that. 'Gun' games are for boys only".

I think I witnessed the societal pressure for men to be thinkers, and girls, feelers. Whether they actually come out that way anyways, who knows. When I overheard, I wondered to myself about the possibility that perhaps the girl did want to play.

'Guns' being a good depiction of the thinker vs feeler. To use a gun, one must not be sensitive, and have a more detached outlook from feelings. A high deal of practicality in guns, for instance, the need to eat and survive, over compassion and understanding of one's own and other's feelings.

*Disclaimer* - I'm not advocating murder in any sense.

******************

Also, I wonder if NF males can be suppressed earlier to be thinkers, and if they can be partly molded that way.

Yeeees, granted.:D
However such things are quite situational and could easily be applied to an INTP male in similar situations, e.g homosexual or otherwise oppressed, while not applying to an INTP female who had enjoyed a fairly supportive background.

Furthermore they are more complex and myriad than the limited and flawed scope of the MBTI can account for. :<

Oh, death is just incidental. :D

These pressures persist into adulthood. For example, it's nice if men oogle over a baby ("oh, how sensitive!") but they're not required to; meanwhile, women are supposed to just think it's the greatest thing ever. :ahh:

And then there's the "rom-com" marketing. :storks:

As a side note, I'm planning to take an ENFJ female friend of mine to a shooting range this spring (it was my idea, and she thought it sounded fun). Neither of us know how to shoot a handgun, but we wanted to learn gun safety and experience what shooting a gun was like. Maybe I just play too many RPGs and watched Salt one too many times.

Also, I wonder if NF males can be suppressed earlier to be thinkers, and if they can be partly molded that way.

Not sure about just the "thinking" angle, but I've seen a lot of online NF male posts about the unfair pressures of being a feeler male.

Oh yeah..

I forgot. I know an ENFJ as well, and she loves trying stuff like 'shooting guns'. Also, she loves monster trucks, fast mustangs, and the 'horror' genre is her absolute favorite.

I wouldn't say she's a tom-boy in the least. She just enjoys 'standing' out and being weird and different. And I think she's got a little bit of a thirst for adrenaline.

I'll have to scrap my 'gun' idea of it only being suited for thinkers. If one would meet her, I'm sure there would be no question she is a feeler. The conversation is almost always about feelings, even in it's standard definition.

I have been searching high and low for a suitable intp female to procreate with and unleash my prodigious offspring, but alas, they are nowhere to be found.

If you happen to be a reasonably attractive intp, infp or infj under the age of 32 then poke me and we can engage in a suitable socially acceptable form of the human mating ritual with the aim of procreating and unleashing my prodigious offspring into the world! In exchange for producing my prodigious offspring, I will provide for you and ensure that you have the first three needs on Maslow's hierarchy.

Yeah, I think part of our friendship is based on the fact we both think outside the box, and this is one of those things that people wouldn't expect / reaffirms that she's not like everyone else. She gets rather dragged by the bulk of her other friendships into more conventional pasttimes.

I can appreciate it on that level (being unique) but also see it as a skill that would be interesting to acquire some competence in, so I can understand it better. (Plus Physics.) I did some archery lessons while young and had my own bow and arrows; but I haven't really explored guns.

Why would you want an intp of all things to be your broodmother? That's like owning a Hummer you only take on city streets. It's not their specialization and I suspect far too mundane a destiny to make them happy, generally speaking. There are plenty other models far more predisposed to child rearing. Like minivans.

All the unreasonably attractive intps, infps, and infjs of any age should talk to me. ;)

No child bearing or socially accepting rituals required or recommended.

I don't mind family babies. You can hold a sister's baby and point out the goo and talk seriously joking to the baby about the price of tea in China and the family will react like it's business as usual with you.

But when I was younger my anxiety shot through the roof if someone brought in a baby or toddler to my job. It felt like I was thrust onto a theatrical stage for everyone to evaluate my woman-ness when I already had hang ups for not being like most of them already.

It was the worst when my male coworkers demonstrated how imperceptive they were by cajoling me about having my own or asking why I wasn't over with the group holding the baby.

I wanted to slide away in those situations. Now it's not so bad. But back when I was new to adulthood trying to navigate the world I wasn't prepared for properly? It was stressful.

I tried looking on online for some information about INTP females but havent had much luck.

There is a document (a research paper) about INTP women floating around in the internet search results. I think it's terribly narrow and negative in perspective. Much of it doesn't apply to me and it seems to be slanting towards painting INTP women as in need of psychiatric help (or perhaps getting laid).

:ahh:

But that could just be my interpretation.

In my (admittedly anecdotal) experience, it comes from urban culture slang that made its way into the mainstream. When I was in the army, It grated me to no end that individual men and the group would be referred to as soldier(s), but the women were routinely addressed or referred to as "females". I was walking on the sidewalk by myself on the training side of post and across the grassy block I heard a loud booming voice demanding my attention "FEMALE!" It was a drill sergeant who thought I was in training running around loose on my own. I wasn't.

I really dislike it.

There is an ER episode in which Dr. Corday temporarily moves back to England. While presenting a casualty case, she referred to her as "female" in the list of vital stats. The team of doctors began making snide remarks about her time in America, having adopted crude ways to refer to the sex of a woman by using gender instead. She was embarrassed and moved on.

Do you have any idea how sexist this comment is?

Examine your attitudes, because honestly, I think the majority of INTP women are smart enough to ignore the message and run away from it. How great of you to condescend to consider them to be worthy of bearing your children.

(No thanks.)

MBTI allows for very efficient descriptions of people, the amount of stuff you can say with 4 letters is neat and unmatched by rivaling personality theories bar socionics but socionics sucks anyway.

Most fingers and toes intact, at least 3/4 of conventional limbs present, no more than 8 cysts larger than the US quarter protruding from the body... and being alive is always a nice attribute, though I'm not considering that a requirement.
