Why do so many INTPs like anime?

If you liked Eva then you might also want to watch/read Bokurano.

TVTropes say that:
Some describe it as "like Evangelion, but even more depressing." Others would say that doesn't go far enough and that this makes Evangelion look like the Carebears.

Honestly, I found it hard to watch especially since I take care of children (my sisters' and sometimes my church members') but it has a unique poignant beauty.

True, I tend to avoid discussing such stuff irl, because it puts people off somehow.
Few of my friends transcended the stage of development I call the steins gate stage :p. So they can tell by now that both steins gate and psycho pass are inferior in their taste. (This is not completely serious and only meant to make fun of people who hold pseudo-deep anime in high regard-snobbish comment of mine)

A beginner’s guide for anime snobs to talk with people who are interested in anime:
1. Avoid people who are interested in anime. :D

Hmmm.... I never got really into anime, and i dont think that its my taste of animation.
But I'm a huge fan of Avatar: Last airbender and Legend of Korra, but its a controversy if these two shows counts as anime.

I'm more the person who enjoys western animation (cartoons) like Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, MLP: FiM (*hide and run*), early Spongebob etc...

I personally think some anime has more depth in them than most western cartoons. I mean, they have a wonderful spectrum. Aside from the bland recipe of shojou and shonen anime (and avoiding altogether any icchi types), they are curiously weird and pleasing. Some slice of life genre resonates with the growing adult, and some anime disguise itself as one type of genre but is really chopping up several genres like a very confusing but delicious meal.

If you want a good introduction of anime, start with Studio Ghibli Movies. Tell me how empowering is Nausicaa: Valley of the Winds, how sweet is the Wind Rises, how fantasy-like is Howl's Moving Castle, and how you lose hope in humanity with Grave of the Fireflies.

^ Actually most of the best of Japanese anime is a reflection of western philosophy. All the tales and fables of the west, plus the recent philosophical dialogue was pretty much put to the drawing board as anime. Some have elements of Buddhism but it's surprisingly sparse, or at least from the ones I've seen.

Gravity Falls is a fantastic show. Probably my favorite show ever, actually.
Really. Y'all should at least check it out.

I don't have access to anime (bc of parents) but I have watched a bunch of Spice and Wolf. It's so wonderful, it has such a cozy vibe and is just economics and apples

Also I read the Death Note manga, and really enjoyed it.

Not me. I don't see the appeal myself. Or is it my age? But what i'm curious to know is what got you into it in the first place & why do you think it is the testicles of the canis lupus familiaris.

Fun fact: I have an INFP friend who likes anime a LOT more than I do, and an ENFJ friend who likes anime even more than her (she already watched every single anime I can think of).
As for me, well, I only like 2 animes: Kill la Kill and Madoka Magica, and that's about it. So I'm not really that much of an anime nerd.

The thing I hate the most about most western TV shows is that so many of them are episodical(every episode is about something new just loosely connected to the show as a whole). So much filler, it just detracts from the quality in a massive way in my opinion. Thinking about it the "normal" TV shows I like the most are ones that are less episodical.

Edit: I just searched for "non-episodic TV shows" (apparently "serialized") and most of the results are like 10 more episodic than any anime anyway...

There are as many episodic and not episodic cartons as there are anime ones, I am not sure what you are talking about. Most anime are episodic(I never regard non canon filler), but of course anime has its shit like Shin Chan.

1. I disagree

2. I wasn't talking about cartons, I was talking about filmed TV shows.

It has a wide variety, and perhaps because they're not actual humans, it's hard to find a character physically annoying or too ugly. If you watch movies, there may be that one or two characters whom you wished weren't played be certain actors/actresses. I don't really like it either. I've watched a few, but the only one I've ever watched till the end was Death Note.

From my perspective, most TV shows seem to deal with boring people living their boring lives.
Anime seems to be more free and diverse storywise.
And I like watching people deal with unusual or even bizarre and chaotic situations.

Some of my favourites:
1. Attack on Titan
2. Code Geass
?. Claymore
?. Madoka Magica
?. Deadman Wonderland
?. Death Note
?. Naruto
?. Mirai Nikki
?. Magi
?. Hunter x Hunter
