I chose my name to commemorate the Duxford Wing, a squadron of pilots with whom I once flew in the WWII aerial combat simulator Fly Aces High II. They were a great bunch of guys, caring, funny, somewhat smart. I think that they were mostly ISTP's and ISTJ's, but the here-and-now atmosphere of air-to-air combat really kept us all on the same page, and the friendships that I've made there kept me socially fed throughout the stormy seas of middle school.

Well a long long time ago now my original username that I used for everything was Sapira. That came from the dragon from Eragon, but I accidently misspelt it, forgetting the H.

Anyway, after a while I grew tired of having a name that was a) misspelt and b) named after a girl (Even though she was a dragon, which was awesome).

So I took another thing from my childhood, the Al Bhed language from Final Fantasy X, stuffed Sapira into a translator, and out popped Cybeny. I liked the sound of it, so I just kept on using it

Lot is an interesting character in the Bible, to me. So I used his name as my main Role Playing name. Lot Deathhail being the full name I give my RP characters. The Deathhail part referring to the destruction of Sodom and Gamora. I decided to shorten it for the forum. I used the full name as my Gaiaonline character, when I played.

Emelina (or Elina, shorter) is the name of a character in a story I'm writing, and I like her very much. It's hard to tell whether she has more faults or qualities, which I find endearing. Honestly, I really got on with a gay (Harvard) English professor I had. He ironically used words like snafu and brouhaha. If I remember back correctly, I wrote snafu, then paused. I asked myself, what would be a suitable username? The phrase "snafupants" seemed enigmatic and provocative, so it stuck. I'm not sure where it came from. Provocative of what, however? I can't say. Anyone played Plants vs. Zombies? Well "Crazy Dave" is the deuteragonist in the game, who sells all the "upgrades" to the player, and as his name suggests, he is wacky and just plain weird.

I like to identify with his "quirky-and-not-giving-a-damn-about-it" attitude because I would be just like him if I wasn't constantly conforming to society.

Interesting story actually...
No more than one or two years ago, I was looking for a new username for a website. Because, at the time, I had taken interest in code breaking and encryption algorithms, I decided to pick something which reflected that, and thus began trying to find some interesting looking username with some sort of code behind it. After many unsuccessful or unappealing attempts, I was starting to grow a bit weary of looking for usernames. Suddenly, however, an idea occurred to me, and sure enough, not only did the result look good, but it was available, and had a pretty simple yet satisfying ring to it. Eventually, when I stumbled upon this forum, this name immediately came to mind, and I decided to use it.

Qysr actually isn't the first one that I considered. You wouldn't believe the number of usernames I've had in the past. Some of them might have been quite silly in retrospect, admittedly, but picking acronyms has always been an important matter to me, and I wanted to use something unique. Relatively speaking, however, I think this one is fairly appealing and interesting, not to mention unique and well suited to my online persona...

Many of the usernames I have used in the past were also quite good. Every once in a while, I'd encounter someone with something similar, but still, most of them were fairly unique. Argent, Cryptiic and Qysr however would be my best ones. Not that the others were bad, but they were a bit lacking in either simplicity or appeal. Some of them were simply downright ridiculous.

I always get distracted when I have to pick a new name for myself.

I used to play an MMORPG (Perfect World), and Hayyel was my second character in it after I got bored with my first character. I chose it because my character was a "venomancer", which has the ability to tame animals and use them as weapons.

I think I got it from a book which said that Hayyel was "the guardian angel of wild animals", so it fit.

I've been using it since, just because of that. I guess I always had this obsession of matching up characters with perfect names (sometimes I write short stories - well, I START writing them - and I swear it takes more time to come up with a name than to write down the story).
