For some reason, I have an obsession with nightmares and their psychological impact on people, especially me. So I just decided to be my witty self and make myself a nickname out of it. I've even considered legally changing my name to 'Knight Meyer'. :phear:

I'm a pretty morbid person, but in an optimistic way. My avatar faithfully demonstrates this claim.

"alysa" is my actual name. The spelling is unusual so some people who either want to spell it with two S or with an I instead of a Y. Heck, I knew an Allyssa once.
I liked the history/meaning behind my name and how it was taken from Alyssum, the flower in my avatar. It's a member of the mustard family. In Greek, "Alysa" means "Princess," and in German and French it means "Kind and Noble."

I usually use "Arashi-sempai" or "Apple Jacks" as my username, but neither seemed to fit here for me.

That's good to know! I've seen Arashi-sempai from other forums, but I'm not so sure which one. How's Alysa pronounced? I've had a friend with the same name and hers was pronounced as a-LEE-sa. I ought to think it should've been a-LIE-sa.

Okay... so my name forum names is usually "Halcyon" which symbolizes peace ,but it seems to be taken in every forum I go, so "Cyon" happened.

A chick who like football and punk?

That's cool.

Yeah, but Fulham are so going to be playing Huddersfield next year instead of United so I wish I never fell in love with the sport! Such a frustrating team I fell in love with.

I like to come up with or analyze ways of doing things, different approaches. New... methods. Methodologies.

A musician works with music. A mathematician works with mathematics. A methodician works with methodology. See?

Also, I use it all the time and have a secret fear of spontaneity. Who knows where that would lead? What if I later regret the name I come up with? What if I myself change and the meaning changes with me? Methodician has served me well thus far.

I chose mine a long time ago and now I tend to use it for everything.
It's pretty hard for me to come up with usernames...
oldfashionedgirl means two things to me: firstly, it's a cool book by Louisa May Alcott, and secondly, I am an old-fashioned girl. So it fits.

Sometimes I use musicianforever when oldfashionedgirl is not available.
For one site I'm on I'm thewarrenranch but it's come to be well known there so I don't use it other places.

The parallel (or almost parallel "/") lines in Z, 4 and 7 appeal to me aesthetically. Also it is short and has no particular meaning.

It also means 'rational' according to some website. It is funny you forget or missed that. How can you be a rationalist if you forget your very name means rational. This should drop you into a full-blown identity crisis! ;)

My nick I chose searching for one, hitting the dictionary. How rational. I have always felt the deep need to be free. I dislike deeply to be chained to anything, a system of thought, a model, anything. I do not like to be tied down and want to keep all my options open, be flexible. It seems these are INTP core traits as far as I can tell.

Hence, 'Variform'. I wish not to have a particular shape, want to be neutral, unbiased and any tie one makes to anything that will allow a tie to be made to it so to say, will invariably limit my options and cause a psychological need to defend such relations. Maybe that is a form of cognitive dissonance?

Anyway, as a variform I hold no shape as I can change it at will. And since I recently have become to understand, this is why I cannot continue my interests for long.

Then when i got a bit older i thought that the word kid no longer fits with me in definition or meaning so i changed it to Josteen:p

Vel, short for Velothi from the game Morrowind(I was also commonly called "vel" for short in a few games).
During my first playthrough I was exploring and adventuring like a typical noob and I came across a random book in a dungeon and decided to read it - it was about a prophet named Veloth.
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Veloth_the_Pilgrim
That should sum it up.
Note: I use Velothi, not Veloth.

Well it isn't my real name so I didn't pick my name.

My username was selected by combining two words. Gray and Man. One would think it was my favorite color but that one would be wrong.

I selected the color based on many assumptions. One is that gray is not black. Two is that gray is not white. These combined means gray is not 'black and white' therefore it is much more complex and hard to understand; but then it is black and white because that is what makes up gray therefore it is also easy to understand.

Gray is an indication of middle ground or 'the gray area'. It could indicate that I don't take sides. I prefer it to indicate that there are no sides. Then again that would be taking my side so then I am left with taking at least one side so instead I just prefer to not prefer anything about preferring...anything.

I like gray because it defines morality. It allows me to do wrong and still feel good about it because there is still lighti n the darkness as long as you look deep enough.

I like gray because it was what color was used in the civil war to enslave man with a new constitution that supported the enslavement of the black race. This bonded the black race to the white race thus creating gray as symbol of true freedom.

There are so many reasons to like gray.

There is only one reason to like 'man' and that is because it is not 'woman'. That is reason enough for anything.

Spada is my last name.
DD, or sometimes DDD, stands for Dissonant Dissolute (Dissident). A friend in middle school said that the three words sounded nice together and, tongue-in-cheek, that they described me well.
As time goes on, I become more dissident (defying authority figures who believe their position overrides their faulty reasoning) and less dissonant (I value silence and exercise my own voice (as a singer would)) or dissolute (I don't drink or don't smoke; I exercise and eat very healthily).

I usually go with ddspada or Verapamil, which is a drug used to regulate blood pressure and heart rate. Both my grandparents on my mother's side take it.

My mom said it in my general direction a lot and it stuck.

Otherwise it would be very hard for me to come up with a handle as I am generally averse to defining myself. I use some variation of my name for all of my accounts.

A friend once suggested "Fat Bread" as a potential band name. It is both inexplicably aesthetically pleasing and vaguely amusing. Unfortunately, it doesn't make for a very compelling band name. It does, however, serve as an intriguing and memorable, yet ultimately meaningless, way to identify oneself on the internet. I mean, what would it mean for bread to be fat, anyway?

I was heavily listening to The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox at the time, but primarily this track is where it directly comes from:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXkGqR-GBbg

I've seen homeless with permanent grins from ear to ear
and I've seen hopeless wealthy guys that only stare with a smear
I've seen beauty queens, whose dreams crumbled tragically
and ugly women fulfill their dreams with gorgeous men(?)
I've seen strangers in danger helping one another
and I've seen sisters snicker as they turn upon their brothers
I've seen tears of joy and pain masked by laughter
(?) CEOs cause their own disaster
I've seen cats live a fast life only to die slow
And I've seen so many things in this life even with my eyes closed
I've seen movie scenes, based on life stories
I've seen lives meet defeat seeking all that movie glory
I've seen so much, it seems to mean so little
I've seen questions, I've seen answers, I've seen puzzles, I've seen riddles
And I'm still impatient, and the weight of the world is a ton
And it's amazing just looking through the eyes of the Cryptic One

Because it's the source of Morphine, through poppies, and the odd dreams it generates. (Or so a list of effects said.) So I picked it because, in a twisted way, it's a source of odd dreams. And I like the sound.

The x's because I like the sort-of symmetry it creates, plus x is a symmetrical letter in itself
Gold because it's precious and my second favorite color (First is aubergine, but 'xAubergine19x' is not quite as appealing in my opinion)
To be honest I don't know why I chose 19. It's not my favorite number (Favorite is 28, because it's 7x4, 4 and 7 are my 2nd and 3rd favorite numbers; I was born on the 4th of February, and 7 is 0+3+4, or circle plus triangle plus square. Of course the idea of favorite numbers is illogical, but I like having my logic behind the choices I made) I think I chose 19 because it's the age I was supposed to be with the fake birthday I used on the website where I originally came up with this username.
Sorry for the tangents, probably much more information than you cared to know.

I'm just totally obsessed with Doctor Who and that was the only good name I could think of within five minutes. Though the name is kind of pointless, since the Doctor will die after the twelfth regeneration.

This should be fun.

It all started when I was 17/18. Please don't think I am insane. I was part of a group that had... well, we more or less considered ourselves a wolf pack. We had this theory that "lycanthropy" was a mental state that anyone could be affected by. It was a mental transformation, not a physical one. And that if you were experienced and practiced, you could change at will. We all had pack names. We had an alpha. My name was fox. So... there you have it. Like I said.... it was weird. I was weird. I didn't whole-heartedly believe it, but it was a good mental exercise. Kind of like a weird form of meditation.

I chose a somewhat ambigous name. I didn't want one that referenced some book or game or anything because I can never be sure I'll still like it after a while. I don't like the same stuff all the time; my interests wane or change a lot. So, I needed something that would be a good representation of some aspect of me that wouldn't be likely to change and that I would be comfortable with sharing.

Its actually a play on my middle name, the meaning of which I've always felt to be at odds with my actual personality, sometimes laughably so. I also liked the way it looks and sounds. I use it in a few places, though I sometimes drop the underscore. Longish explanation for not much actual meaning, but I actually did think a lot about it.

Hunter gatherer - Hunt for food, gather food and the essentials. Survivalist ethos.

Gather wanderer - Gather information, wander the universe gathering more information.

Honestly if I had been single that would be a dream job but I took the other alternative and am happy about it, but this also means I can't just go to space and wander whenever I feel like it lol.

Missfortune:

A play on words.

I'm female and don't want anyone to assume otherwise.

My signature says the rest...

In addition to a Youth Brigade song titled Misfortune. I love that song.

The name fits the way I perceive myself.
