Village Idiot
This happens to me frequently, but at this point people think that I'm just trolling when I am not. It is just abstract and I don't know how to communicate ideas effectively. Is this common among intuitive types?
The most recent occurrence was discussing math with people, and people were complaining how they don't really see a point in learning it. Now, I don't think that I am particularly good at math, but when I was attempting to reply, my phone died.
I go to plug my phone in, and it has a warning that it can't charge because it is wet or damp. Usually when this happens it takes a while before I can charge it (maybe an hour or two).
Since math was fresh on my mind, and I was eager to reply and contribute to the conversation, I decided to just use it to solve my problem. My phone has a metal ring that goes around the edge, and the charging port is directly center at the bottom of the unit. Unplugging and plugging it back in show the same message, that it has moisture and it can't charge. So I think, okay, since there is a metal frame, I can press my thumb on one side and index finger on the other side about 1/4th of the way up to "math" the problem. The instant that I do that, it starts charging again.
To me, it seems like a logical solution. I have an INTJ friend whom I described this to, and they understood it immediately and why it solved the problem. I realize that I can not explain it to someone, all of the functions that are required to make this assessment, but it is simple and you can do it in your head.
Anyways, this sort of thing happens a lot... I know that I could write the formula in a spread sheet, but even then I don't think it is something that will make sense to other people...
Is this something that is common with INTPs? Has anyone figured out a way to handle this miscommunication? What would you do?
