Self-explanatory. Explain your guilty secret. (I really hope there's not another thread like this. If there is, I'm sorry. Please don't kill me.)

Mine's anime. And manga. And cheesy pop music when I'm in the right mood. And right now my weakness is the anime Death Note. But that will probably change soon.

Anyone else?

Two points:

1. If I share anything, it will no longer be a secret.

2. I don't believe that your question is self-explanatory. Personally, I don't feel guilty about anything that I enjoy doing, and if it wasn't for you answering your own question, I wouldn't have known that that is what you meant thereby. This a statement about the present. The future and past are unknown and irrelevant, respectively, within the scope of the context of this thread.

In an attempt to answer your question, however, my dirty little secret is that I am in fact an ESFJ... with a highly developed shadow and a poorly developed personality.

On a more serious note, grammar will always have a special place in my heart. Grammar makes the world go around.

Remember the panda that "eats, shoots and leaves" ;)

Ugh.

I hate that book. You dirty prescriptionist. No INTP could ever appreciate that book entirely, unless they were simply immature.

(And you apparently don't love spelling as much as you love grammar. xD "developed".)

ESFJ, eh? And I was thinking to myself, "figured that an INTP would smash someone in the face like that for a simple illogical statement... actually.... that sounds more like an INTJ..... who is this guy? Oh, he's new. Hm. Must be having... oh, he's ESFJ. I see."

I am incredibly fond of the ancient oriental board game "Go", and am a single digit kyu at it.
I like emotions, for all of their messiness.
I also like emotional people, despite all their mental flaws.
I have watched the entire Full Metal Alchemist anime in one week.
I speak Esperanto, and practice it in my spare time.
I am a Christian.
I make sound effects when I pretend to fight with my friends.
I may look very pensive all of the time, but half the time I'm wondering something as arbitrary as "hmmm... what if we saw the world in negative? Would we paint everything the opposite colour, or just like the colours we would then see?"
I actually liked Latin class.
I'm slowly getting out of shape right now.
I won't tell you if I think you are an idiot in real life. I'll just politely avoid you.
This applies even if you have befriended me, for I deny no one at least a shallow level of friendship.
I wonder if I will be able to distill my abilities and life into something meaningful.

Actually, "developpe" is an English word, but it's a ballet term, borrowed from the French language. I love spelling and I'm really touched that you were able to find an error and all, but don't get too proud. ;) My mothertongue is French and I can never remember which language spells "appartment" with two Ps... must be English. :P

As for the ESFJ statement, you oughtn't have taken it too seriously. My dad's ESFJ - I don't get along with him when he tries to "connect."

I must say that I was disappointed by the fact that the title is the only original part of "Eats, shoots and leaves"... and so, well, I love the title. That's about it, I must admit. I haven't seen the book, but the calendar goes on about apostrophes. Dreadful, really.

On a side note, I hate anime.

'Appartment' est anglais.
Dans Les Pays Bas, les drouges sont legal.

That's the one french phrase I remember. I probably messed it up, too.

Playing bass? Will that do?

Oh, shoot. I meant guilty pleasure, not secret. My error. Sorry. My mind is messed up in the early hours of the morning...Sorry!

(On a side note, I thought English spelled "apartment" with one p. But I could be very wrong. (see above statement).)

I like anime as well, and I actually did like Death Note. I also love Go, though I am not yet amazingly good at it.

Hmmm... Prog metal... I haven't heard it, but I like metal on occasion, and I like progressive rock... I'm not sure how well it would mix... I'm sure I'd like Drum n Bass a lot better in terms of dark, bass-heavy music.

Aye, you are right. I just checked.

French: appartement
English: apartment

Those are the kind of spelling nuances that drive me nuts.

Well, in that case, I think you'd like it. It has it's cheesy side just like metal and prog can, but most of it is great. It's a great combination and allows for a lot of experimental stuff. Ever heard of Tool? That would be a great way to start. Or Dream Theater's Images and Words.

I have heard of tool and dream theatre. But I think you should be wary if you ever truly believe that most of any genre is great.

hedgehogbe, if you'd ever like a teaching game, I'd be glad to give you one on KGS.

Ha ha ha, so I was going to post when I got challenged to a game on IGS... (btw, I use IGS, not KGS) Is it weird to like playing white a LOT better? I seem to play a lot better as white in Go. I like to go second better in chess as well. I just like to react better than I like to plan. I can destroy people better by playing off their weaknesses than just blindly charging forward on a plan of my own.

Anyhow, been listening to Tool, I like it a lot so far... Thanks, Fernando_the_weasel!

I don't have anything I feel guilty about, but most people really can't see me liking prog metal.

dream theater used to be my guilty pleasure because sometimes their lyrics border the realm of being generic, but they're coming around with Opeth next month, so Ive thoroughly creamed my pants in anticipation.

Theres a Mormon girl I feel the strangest attraction to. My friend constantly describes her as my polar opposite. I guess thats not really a guilty pleasure, just something that makes me feel odd.

Yeah, I can't wait! I'm seeing them May 27!!!

And go figure. I'm Mormon too.

Now that I think about it, my guilty secret/pleasure is being such an enigma sometimes.

A mormon tool fan? Hmm. Well, you got one right.

No offense, of course.

Tool are one of the most creative groups of the modern age, and you shouldn't limit them to 'metal'. They've done quite a bit more than that.

Just seems to be the one element that's constant in their music. That's all. They're really unidentifiable in every sense of the word.

You should be guilty for liking Weird Al.

Though, I'll give it that it seems to be borderline valid creativity... I just can't stand his sense of humour, I guess.

HedgeHogBe, I once played chess against myself, and was purposely offensive with one side, and defensive with the other.

My defense slaughtered my offense. Further, I always chose white in chess as well. On that same note, I remember as trying to find my own weakness in my chess game was that I didn't have an offensive plan to invade; I just preferred to respond, or to play it by ear.

What do you know, eh?

I've never played on IGS, I hear it's much bigger. The huge draw of KGS for me, though, is that the ability to give and receive teaching games is emphasized with the incredibly well made gui tools given.

I recommend you at least try it in browser, at gokgs.com; if not, though, whatever. :)

I'll let you know if I ever get around to IGS. Do you have the same username here as there?

I've got some friends who play a game similar to it, but haven't in a while. It was called "Legends" or something. I almost got into it with them, but it wasn't organized enough.

I would imagine there would be some sort of linking service for D&D players to get together?

What I love (but no one else notices)

1. Petting animals: I'll pet a komodo dragon if it won't bite me
2. Music: Saaaad movies always make me cryyyyy
3. The color purple. When I grow up, I'm going to paint my house/ apartment/ mansion/ shack lavender and violet. And indigo. And heliotrope. And... you get the idea.
4. Grape juice
5. Lurking
6. Puzzles: I suck at them, which is why I like them.

It did.

By the way, can unleashing weird jokes that no one else gets upon the unsuspecting public be considered a pleasure? I do like it, but it gets boring after a short while when nobody understands that I'm even joking.

Upsides and downsides to it, but such jokes have given me a bit of a character in my clique (if the term is applicable), and I think people are starting to catch on. Actually, no, they're not. I should probably stop it...

But if you stop it, you'll miss out on the chance to meet the someone just for you; the kind, caring, sensitive weirdo who understands every single one of your off-key jokes. Don't do it, Pear! Be strong! *drama queening* (First person to call you a fruit! Whee!)

On a side note, anyone here likes playing the piano? I was forced (i.e: coerced) to play it, and am pretty bad. I do appreciate good playing, though it's hard to come by (Thank Youtube for providing us music vids)

I love the piano. I am sad music was never introduced to me as a child. Piano is my first instrument, entirely self taught, though never owned a piano until I finally bought myself one a year ago ($85! A steal on craigslist).

I can barely read sheet music (it takes too much work to finally gain the profit, and I don't yet have enough J to power through it), but I love to improvise and play by ear... I have a musician friend that I have taught some piano to, and he says there is nothing like the way I improvise in youtube out there, and wants to get a vid up.

Anyways, yeah. I love piano.

Wonder if it would be a good idea to get a bass or cello off craigslist.

On that note, I wish I was taught how to play piano as an artistic medium, not a social function like my mom taught it to me. I imagine I could be as good with music as I am with art or writing if I had the right teachers earlier.

Yeah. My mom essentially only taught me how to play the piano so I could play the hymns for church. I certainly can do that, but now I'm deprived of sheet music worth playing outside of hymn arrangements.

This "guilty secrets/pleasures" thread is an interesting idea. I also play D&D some.

I have another, but it's so exceedingly nerdy that I'm too embarrassed to say what it is, even here. If someone can guess what it is, I'll admit it, both because I won't have to be the first person to say it and because it means someone else here has heard of it. If nobody guesses it, you'll just have to wait until I can work up the guts to say it, although I expect before that I'll start posting hints.

Who knows, maybe the guesses will turn up some other interesting stuff. So, what could it be that interests me, but is so exceedingly geeky I'm embarrassed to admit it here? Start guessing.

Ah, I have a guilty secret!

I got obsessed with freinds, the TV show with Jennifer Aniston....

My mom watches it religiously, and One day she was like, "I can't watch another episode or I'll puke."
And the I realised that I had been drawn to it...

I was laughing so hard!

Well, I seem to have derailed this thread pretty thoroughly. Should we split this off to a different thread or something? I don't want to get in the way of anyone else's confessions (and I don't want them getting in my way, either).

No Jesin, I'm leaving you here with all the other guilty confess-ees!

But do feel free to start a new thread somewhere about this particular guilty pleasure of yours. Is it a type of on-line collaborative writing group you're talking about? I've been a member of one. We threw about all sorts of great ideas and were developing a complex futuristic world, and characters and plot lines. One member even created some brilliant digital art to go with the story... then we sort of just ran out of steam.

That's the only thing about it that lingers as guilt for me - the fact we didn't have the oomph to follow through on a great beginning!

---

Zakai, that is the sickest confession yet!

---

I concede! Jesin, your guessing game is now immortalised in it's own thread.

I once did something like that, except without the collaboration, without the net and without the art. Then when the time came to writing the story, my creative spark fizzled out :(. Maybe I should sell plots and storylines to authors with writer's block (1 point if you get the reference).

I'm apparently pretty nerdy from what I can gather... I've even written and read fan fictions (and some comics). I've collab written, have two blogs, forum and chat roleplay...MMOs, games... I'm also an anime/manga fan.

But I suppose my worst is Futanari (You can look it up on dictionary.com if you don't know what it is. And for the record, if you do know what it is, I'm not really into the vulgar stuff. I like stuff that's more towards ambiguous [I also don't have a particular interest in the female appearing ones, but perhaps because of obviousness they're the most common]) and interest in anything that's ambiguous or has gender appearance reversal. I also have quite the interested in hermaphroditism (It's more of a interested biologically/genetically speaking [and somewhat fetishy] I haven't really looked into the psychology of intersex peoples, though I have seen some stuff about that). I'm probably more interested in the mindset that goes behind interest in stuff like futanari and ambiguous appearing characters.
