My favorite aspect about myself is: my ability to just keep going.

This is probably somewhat to do with my NT nature (we're resilient in comparison..) ... but probably more so to do with my 8w7 nature. The world wants to keep on chucking shit at us? Carry on, bring it baby

So, I've typically kept out of the 'INTP' subforum, as I believe in the sanctity of such reserved spaces. But that ends today, because I have something nice to say (:O)

My best friend is an INTP, and his ability to devour information and subsequently understand a topic in great detail is very impressive to me. My brain isn't like that; I skim the surface and want things bottom-lined. I wish I could be a little more INTP at times.

Also, he's great at stories and stuff. I'm far more comfortable writing non-fiction.

I follow my principles and sense of morality, this helps me accept my sense of self and go against the flow if needed. I'm happy to be able to act generously and relate to other people, I don't feel like a deterministic machine as much as I did in the past.

I'm just self aware enough to change myself and get some insight on things. Oddly I guess though that I'm without passion and drive. I've just realized this about myself pretty much. I have no passion for anything honestly. I have emotional judgments, but no personal drive. I'm pretty much a cowardly glutton (physically / emotionally / mentally). This isn't something I like per se, but I think what I like about myself can't be without what I don't like. Otherwise it's an incomplete picture; no context and no meaning.

I like I have somewhat have a metaphorical soul / spirit. I like I'm not evil. Though someone who's evil (which doesn't really exist to me, but conceptually still has drive. I'm pretty ambivalent. My judgement are stuck in perpetual supposition like particles / waves or whatever.

I feel like all of this is the opposite of Some NiJeJiSe structure. If someone can confirm or deny this then please let me know. I'm pretty sure I'm an ISFJ or otherwise some other SiNe type. I don't feel I have Ne aux so IDK.

What I like about myself feels really irrelevant for some reason. Even though in this context it's completely relevant? Maybe I mean arbitrary. Why did I start answering this?

1) Indomitable spirit (Once I've got my mind set on something I don't give up. I've been known to do some pretty extreme shit)

I've been told on several separate and unrelated occasions by people I consider wise that I'm incapable of thinking well of myself. As in the above example, I shrug it off. But coming back to this thread... I've sat here stumped for the better part of half an hour trying to think of my favourite thing about myself.

The problem is, anything I might say is met with an immediate backlash of self-hatred. For someone so often accused of arrogance it's strange I can't bring myself to even a thimble of pride.

I wanted to say I like the fact I exist. That the chances of me coming together the way I am were so small that it would be outrageous not to be awed. But that's literally the lowest bar I could set. A rock could claim as much if it had the faculties.

Then I wanted to say that I like that I'm still learning. But again... Not at all a high bar. Contrary to popular opinion even an old dog can learn new tricks. Being thankful for the human condition is just so fucking lame and cliche while not actually saying anything of value.

Seems like something is actively dragging you down.
Hiding behind the unconditionally true core of things to avoid showing too much character is a game I like to play, too. But in the end it's just another defense mechanism that accomplishes little.
Do you know what exactly causes your self-hatred? You should definitely try to pin it down and deconstruct it, if possible.
Self-love may be stupid, but it's extremely powerful, in a psychological sense. And most people don't even need a reason to make use of it, so why should you?

That being said, I have difficulties utilizing it, too.

Example: I like black. (WTF does that even mean?)
An intelligent statement would be. Black is useful in the winter because it absorbs heat and white is useful in the summer because it will help a person stay cooler. When I walk at night I like to wear pink neon or yellow so that I can be easily seen.

A person who is small minded and likes black is likely to get hit by a car on a nighttime stroll.

All my 'favorites' have motivations that pertain to arguably objective criteria.

I just like it better that way. It's an evolutionary interplay between fancy and rationalization which is cool to me. I could explain 'cool' but i digress.

Its staring you in the face. I basically said what minuend said. I like to be adaptable or flexible. I prefer things based on need and circumstance. I just added robotic flavor too it with a delightful arrogant cherry on top.

I like that I am open-minded but boy does it drive people nuts that have hard beliefs. They see it as a weakness and I find it an advantage to avoid bias. However, it could be that I just don't give a shit to have an opinion, force my opinion down someones throat or can never be entirely sure about anything.

I also like that I don't entirely need to give a shit about anything or that I seem to be a forever optimist. I just try to enjoy life as is and bumps in the road become opportunities.

My wife's favorite color is Orange, that statement piqued my interest enough to comment in your thread. That's a fairly intelligent lure.

Having something favorited that is part of oneself is vastly different from liking something externally. Liking part of yourself is connected to ego and neediness. Liking an orange generally isn't.

Seeing your abiltities in terms of usefulness might be more preferable in that regard. I don't know why the need for bringing in concept like "small minded" or "a more intelligent statement". I never indicated higher or lower intelligence. If my statement was anything, it was a comment on the ego aspect of liking something about oneself strongly. I think RB's comment is mostly a comment in relation to ego that was self ironic since he still said he had a favorite aspect. It was humorous.

There are cognitive setups/ thinking styles that don't require you to take pride or like/ dislike things about yourself. For instancing focusing on goals, achieving what you find valuable or improving your skills because you find mastery pleasing. Being happy we achieved something, but no feelings of being proud.

Using a different cognitive setup avoids you being played along by your own feelings of wounded pride or growing a sense of being better than others. Because these things are irrelevant/ not in focus then. It's not about being a robot, just about thinking differently. But we learn from a very young age to be embarrassed when we're wrong, to compare ourselves to others and to be proud of ourselves when we accomplish whatever the adults thought good at the time (-> if your reply was in relation to mine, if not disregard this).
