This song (there are others) because the recipient of this emotion must feel loved and the process of loving has me identify with feeling loved. That's my current interpretation.

Rain by the Beatles.

It doesn't put me into my happy place. It reminds me that my happy place is where ever I am--if I decide it to be.

Can you hear me, that when it rains and shines,
It's just a state of mind?
Can you hear me, can you hear me?

I generally enjoy thematic music from the 50s and 60s, including doo-wop, AM radio pop, and rock and roll / surf especially with the 'wall of sound' production technique. Besides the actual sound what I like are their atmospheres of nostalgia.

@EyeSeeCold great taste in music man! I love the passenger. Listened to it like 10000 times in high school
Same here, I discovered it during junior high, played it out, forgot about it, then rediscovered it during high school. Always resonated with it on a personal level.

I don't feel a big difference but it's as good as the original. Still groovy(it's hard not to want to dance to it).

Not exactly a 'happy place'..but these songs are amazing, 'transcendental' is the only word I could use to describe them. Though I think the genre is indie. I found them while playing the SSX 2012 demo, looking for more if anyone will recommend me some.

I listen to Requiem for a Dream (Lux Aeterna) when I'm upset or frustrated. Makes me feel epic :smoker:. I also listen to Molotov Jukebox when I'm just plain happy:D.

"Space Bossanova" at 7:00. Terrible video of the monitor but I love the song. Kids just tall enough to ride would inevitably bop around to it while waiting in the queue.

On a related note, this is my all-time favorite attraction soundtrack, the Dick Dale Space Mountain music, before they swapped it for video game music. I ride in my head while this plays.
"Scheming Weasel" (an excellent title for a song). Hooray for bassoons!
"A Precious Little Thing Called Love," Annette Hanshaw, 1929.
"Wouldn't It Be Nice," the Beach Boys.
"The Very Thought of You," Brent Spiner. Possibly the most romantic song ever.
Macarena version of "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room."
We are a little clever
We are a little naive
We are a little genuine
we are a little insincere
...but the heart is always Indian! "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani."

Im sure there is a huge range of music genre's liked by forum members on this site. So, what songs move you emotionally and put you into that happy place? What do you think it is in particular about the song that elicits such emotion in you?

Perhaps I am alone in this, but I find that although I am (seemingly) void of emotion most of the time, music is the main thing that I am able to "feel". Thoughts/share?

Wilco, definitely Wilco.

This song is a major relief after a series of pretty dark sounding songs on their album, Ágætis byrjun. My favorite part is at 5:20 when the guitar comes in and hits you like a freight train. I recommend loud listening.

I love the way it ends, but unfortunately the you-tube version cuts it short.

I made an itunes play list for this once. It was funny as the songs were sort of not what i mainly listen too. Most were rock from 78-86. I will list a few here

plimsouls - 1,000,000 miles away
cheap trick - reach out
black sabbath - walk away
thin lizzy - cowboy song
journey - stone in love
bruce springsteen - does this bus stop at 53 &
world party - way down now
meatloaf - hot potootie
april wine - sign of the gypsy queen

which sort of seem normal they are fun songs. but I realized i need one extra song for when i was really pissed off. It sort of takes me up and after a few listens I am all pissed off out.

The Beatles' "Let It Be" and "Yesterday":
Glenn Gould playing JS Bach's "Goldberg Variations": . Absolutely nothing in the world like it.

Linkin Park's "Numb": . This song reaches me.

Matisyahu's "One Day": I once babysat his nephew.

My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade": . Found this on my brother's iTunes. Not exactly cheerful, but great nonetheless.

Joni Mitchell's "River":
Coldplay's "Paradise":
Adele's "Someone Like You":
