I have had issues with typing myself for plenty of reasons, and i've been at this for about 2 years. I find contradictions in the entire system and it messed with me. The reason I'm writing this thread is because at the moment, I feel to have the best understanding I have had of myself in a really long time. I have finally been able to climb over this wall of a rut, that I built I guess from being such a chameleon at times. That, mixed with peoples opinions I guess at the time....they made me start kind of questioning that I may be one way, when I'm not. In turn, kind of making me lose myself in a way. Getting this all out and making it make sense has been a hard task. It has also taken me a long time to realize a lot about myself. This has been a long process for myself, and now that i've done it, writing a type me thread only felt appropriate to get new feedback, that's based more on how I really am. (I've always been this way though, not a new discovery, but it's just that whenever I write a thread I get biased with putting information about myself that isn't really that accurate.) :borg:

Also I find contradictions with the entire system and it throws me off, because I never seem to be able to get an understanding that just lets me type myself.
Example. Someone could think they are more of a feeling type, but agree with let's say, INTJ and justify their "feelings" with an enneagram type, and visa vera. Let's say someone is an INFJ. Type 4 gives them the ability to incorporate Fi in there somewhere. You could be anything..... INFJ type 5 if you think you are somewhat "T like" and lets say INTJ type 4, to solve you contemplating your emotional "Fi side". I'm not sure if I'm for example some other type, or an INFJ type 5, as i've been told was possible. Enough with the stereotypes, but it's something I've noticed, and has been something that has made driven me in circles before.

Anywho, this may be long but I will put any random information I can think about myself, you can skim and do as you please, and then let me know what you come up with maybe, and what type you think I fit according to your perception of whatever I write. Explanations would be awesome.

ANYWHO....Here goes:

-I contemplate everything around me. Since I was a child, I tried to make everything make sense, and if it didn't i'd ask until I get enough information that would make it make sense to me, at least for the time being, knowing at some point in life i'd figure it out. This sort of thing happened when I was like 6 and asked about human existence. My parent's lovely answer. "Oh god did it".... My reply being something like,

"Nooooo, I'm serious tell meeeeee. But that doesn't make sense.... where did "god" come from?"
Parent's: " The star led the three wise men..."
Me : "Stars lead people places? what........ no.......huh? but....." -_-

Parent's: Omg it just happened that way and that's that, okay!?"
Me: Okay.... -___-

I grew up having some idea that god could be real, but it is fading, and if not, has already.
Now as I am not a child anymore, I talk with people, research and read online, and take classes.

-I go in depth with mostly everything. Clear Explanations are awesome for me. I like explanations that make some type of sense. If you explain something and it doesn't correlate with the same thing you told me about a week ago I quickly notice, and it's like... "um.. that makes no sense you said this" (in my head usually).... But then.. that's contradicting... what? And by this point the person is annoyed at me. Getting an explanation that something is just a vibe or a gut feeling, doesn't work for me if I want an actual explanation that can be explained.

-I pretty much just go along with things, without making a fuss. If people want to go to eat somewhere I don't want, I just say it's fine, because it technically is, I'm sure I can find something. I know people that refuse to go places just, because. I'm more let live in those kind of moments.

-It's hard for me to get things down into verbal words, things make a lot more sense in my head then coming from me when I try speaking.

-Typical, but I dislike being around people, and my room is my haven.

-Typical again, but I'm super detached... from everything around me, the world, and feelings. It's feels sort of like I'm a brain stuck with a body. It's a feeling i've had my entire life. I'm so far in my head, that I feel like a just a "being" stuck inside a human body. I'm just controlling the body from my brain, somewhat reminiscent of a puppet. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to not feel this way and perceive everything the way I don I'm assuming people a lot of people feel "alive", at least the ones around me because I could ask, and I'm curious to know what that feels like.
Perceiving everything around me, being "here" in some way, living in the "here and now" every now and then sounds like it'd be great.

-I over think everything, the workings of everything, why things are the way they are. I think about human kind, and all of this, as natural as i'm sure it is for some people, would be great if I could control when I think. My brain is on overdrive all day it seems, my entire life. Wikipedia and the internet are my best friends.

-I've tried over the past few years to come off more emotional, I'm assuming subconsciously because I am a girl. If someone called me cold, I would say or show I cared at some point, and try to come off more emotional around them, or come off like I'm hurt by something they said, when I really just think "People would be offended by this right? Okay I assume I should be too, so I'll act like it now." And then I go and do it. It became easier over time, to the point that at times I kinda started believing I was emotional, and an over all moody person. (Which I don't really think I am.) I think I wanted to come off like an "F" type..... Not saying I'm not, but I know I was conscious of it when acting or saying certain things, so I'm assuming it's relevant information......Which leads me to my next point.

- I don't think I am that much of a moody person. I'm pretty stable most of the time, and can obviously become unhappy and junk, but, it's mostly just average.

-A function I think I use highly is Ti, though who knows. Just from what i've read and know. I'm pretty big on things making sense, picking it apart and trying to understand it thourougly. I'm just not sure what my main thing is.

-When I take functions tests I score high on Ni, Ti, Fi, and lastly Si as my sensing function. I agree with those myself, and I get them as results on my tests too. I don't really agree with any of the extroverted functions descriptions that much except maybe Ne somewhat. That's about it though, and I know it's not possible according to MBTI to have all introverted functions as the top 4.

-I don't feel mushy or nice when I see nice things around me. Romantic things on tv, babies, etc. Nothing makes me feel anything like "awe". I can pretend and show it in words. If someone asks me if that was adorable, I could say "Yeah, I just don't show emotion on my face, you know that." or something like that.

-I'm not that emotional, I don't think. I can watch the news for example and not care, as mean as it sounds. When I was little I would tell my mother "I care about animals.. not this...."

-Most things said to me don't really bother me, and I'm not sure but an issue i've had with going toward NF types for example is that, even though I'm sure I have them, I don't think I'm very big on morals.. You can so called "step on them" dance all around them and stomp them to death. Defy them, and I couldn't care less. I don't even know what my morals are for the most part, or care about them that highly, but that's how I know I'm not big on them. And I'm sure I have tried to find something I highly take a stance on or believe is "right" or "wrong"...and ....yeah..I can't really think of anything.

- I tend to act kind of opposite than the person I'm around, usually when they are one extreme, like really outgoing, or shy. And act certain ways around certain groups of people because I know they have a preconceived notion of me.

- I have gotten "gut" feelings before, but I tend to defy them because they make no sense. I sometimes follow it though but am still not sure why I do it. Because I have read I should do so according to what I was typed, or just do. My gut feelings do tend to be right though. I usually think I should have followed it when I go against it on purpose, if it was true.

- I often watch people, and think they are kind of easily amused by things, and that they are highly predictable. I usually don't respond in the ways I observe in others. An example could be someone listening to a professor speak or anyone really speaking about something. The speaker want some evident reaction from his audience. They word things to get a certain response. The audience hears something that resonates with them, and they proceed to nod their heads in approval. When that person is clearly wording everything in their speech to get that exact reaction from their audience. They fall for it. It can get tiring. I usually guess what people are going to do or say.

This is long and messy..... Due to me not knowing what to include or what to leave out, and I'm sure I missed stuff I meant to include.
:king-twitter:

Even though I wrote a lot, if you have any questions at all that could help with typing me, feel free to ask. If you have any opinions on my enneagram that'd be interesting to hear too.

Thank you again.

I find contradictions in the entire system

Probably reason to not have taken it so seriously then :P oh well.

Fair amount of Ne I think. My guess is INTP.

If you want to be more certain, you can always make a video... :P

A Ni dom would just make up their own answer. :P

I know :P .... I've thought that. But I still want to figure it out for what it's worth, because I need to get to some type of conclusion, as faulty as it may be. I think there is some positivity to it. If I could just make sense of my type.

And thanks for the feedback. It would be interesting to come to the conclusion that I was one.... (Or any type really.) Hopefully this entire thing can provide some clarity for my tired brain.

Ne....Ti.... Interesting thank you. :)

Ah video..... I'm not to fond of videos..... If I did make one, where would I post it.... I hope that this thread will be enough for now and at least a few people will respond.... If all else fails, a video will remain an option.... :/

I think this kind of ongoing problem solving is associated with Ti.* The focus would be on narrowing down possibilities, avoiding the incorrect options (Ti would probably be happy saying "none of them", though Ne would probably brings things back up).

My type questioning was along the lines of "well, if I interpret things like this, then I must be this type... though from this other interpretation I could very well be this other type". I'm not sure what the motivation for arriving at an answer was, though figuring my type did give a bit of a confidence boost for a little while.

Without going into specific functions, try and focus on whether you think you are judgement dominant or perception dominant, and whether you're a J type (self -> world) or a P type (world -> self).

* or Ji generally?

I wasn't even sure that I used Ti so that's very helpful. Based on what feedback I've gotten from friends, they say what I think is Ti, could be Fi. But then again, these are people I act differently around, or they have a different idea than I have of my self. But I find it very interesting that you perceive Ti from what I wrote.
And yeah, that is kind of what happens. :roll eyes:

And yeah that kind of sounds like what I am going through. I agree with type descriptions, or functions. But...... then again, others make sense too. I can find a way in which I use every function kind of equally...well most. Except, Se or Si.... and maybe Te.

And hmm. What exactly does (world -> self) mean..

I'm really bad at discerning specific functions, but most of what you say resonates with me as an INTP. What you call an 'average' emotional state is what I decided to term 'neutral'.

I'm not much of a function junkie, but just by reading and comparing you to people I know I'm comfortable immediately hacking all the E-dom's and S-dom's from the equation.

I'm not feeling any inkling of INFP.

INTP, INFJ or INTJ, mainly because I'm not sure what a female INTJ would "look like"...

I false tested as an INTJ for a year until I realized that I wasn't all that naturally motivated, driven, and organized, leading me to embrace my p-ness and actually take the MBTI from a licensed professional.

*EDIT* The more I think about this the more I want to vote INFJ off the island. You don't appear to be much of a rule-follower, or for that matter a rule-breaker in a Gandhi-esque fashion. INTP vs INTJ.

I know somebody with obsesive compulsive disorder. He's also a contemplater, he didn't have control over his thoughts, his type is called a pure obsessional since he only has reacuring thoughts (no compulsions, ocds are prone to felling that they are out of there body, mind outside body, dissconected. If this sounds like you, I think you should go to a psychologist to see if you have ocd.

I don't really think that anything I listed has anything to do with OCD, since I've been this way ever since I can remember. But thanks for the feedback.

Yeah neutral sounds about right. And that's awesome. INTP is a possibility now. And yeah functions are kind of difficult to pick up on, especially since I'm the one experiencing them. I just wanted to see what functions I give the impression I am using. Thank you. :)

Lol, rules..... I don't break or follow them. I follow them since they are there, but i'm not big on it. I rather not cause any issues though, like people questioning me or getting in trouble, so I rather stay on the following side for that main reason.

I've been typed before, and I usually get INFJ. My issue with INFJ is the Fe..... I'm not super nice to people, or care about group dynamic all that badly, or morals of people around me.... So yeah.
INTJ..... never really considered so I will look into it thanks.
INTP, sounds like a maybe. Tell me, do you have any take or opinion on how INTPs use their "Fe" or since you're not big on functions, their "F-ness". Just wondering. :phear:

Also why exactly do you say INTP or INTJ? Like is there anything in particular that inclines you to say that besides that S/N, E/I thing?

Thank you for your response.

From my experiences, INFJs tend to have strong beliefs and ideals, will fight for them tooth and nail if violated, and will feel like absolute dirt if they fight for something and lose out or must swallow something unpalatable to them, even if it's relatively small in INTP terms. If they don't agree they don't follow, but they hold strong to those that they do agree with.

I share an office with a male INFJ doing malaria research for the UN. He's not logical, but he'll learn and do whatever is necessary to put his ideals into motion. After a good initial 4 weeks of saying absolutely nothing to eachother except for his occasional "hi" and my nod in response, we went through a 3-day ordeal when the department wouldn't allow him to leave the country for a trip he planned a year in advance without docking his pay $100 in spite of the fact that his contract allowed him to do so. I would have just been like "Hey, I've already spent $1800 on plane tickets, I might as well lose $100 more and make it up by reducing my next grocery bill", but he stood well mannered and tall on principle, wading through bureaucracy until the bitter end with complete faith that it would be resolved in a moral and acceptable fashion. He "felt like he wasn't even a human" after the final administrator atop the pyramid denied his request and became visibly depressed until the next day. Otherwise a dress shirt and tie kind of guy who strongly values fairness and equality.

I eliminated E because you apparently spend lots of time isolated in your room, you're asking about this on the interwebz, and you're clearly introspective; and I eliminated S because you appear to think more abstractly based on your writing and choice of profile pictures. If you're an S, you're probably an ISFP, but I'm not getting that vibe. My sister is an ISFP: not all that book smart, tattoos, piercings, hair dyed 3 different colors, drives way too fast, "special connection" with animals, phallic jokes in front of grandma, etc. Of course an INTP and ISFP have the exact opposite functions, which should at least help if our understanding of functions improves to the point where you can ID 2 or 3 for certain... maybe.

Do you resemble either collective whole at all?

I'm considering INTJ mainly because I believe a female INTJ would show increased signs of "F" due to biological reasons (hormones ftw), although they would still be T-dominant. I'm assuming biology is the reason why 2/3 of men are Ts and 2/3 of women are Fs.

I eliminated INFP because you're lyrically lacking, for lack of a better phrase. It's not that you're not capable of using a variety of words, but from my experiences, INFPs can't not wield their vernacular variety.

For me, Fe is exposed completely randomly and unexpectedly (i.e. bursting into tears at my grandmother's funeral mid-eulogy or occasionally saying inappropriate/random things when I'm exceedingly happy). It really only comes to life for a sustained period of time when stimulated by music or something like a documentary that draws out that activism/need-to-debate-now urge deep inside me. It's not really describeable other than... energy.

For what it's worth, your inability to decide on a type may be evidence of being a P as opposed to a J. After all, there's an equally likely possibility that...

Very interesting. You said his contract allowed him to do so? I think if I was put in that situation, I would either do what you did, or talk to my boss, and ask why I have to have $100 docked when it say's that I'm allowed in my contract (If by allowed you mean I won't get docked anything.) I just want to know why because it didn't make sense. But that's it. I'll let it go.

I agree with the "Special connections" with animals thing I guess. Though idk if I'd call it connection, but I love animals. So much I wanted to become a vet most of my life, the only thing keeping me from it is that math is not my best friend. I'm assuming that's one thing that led people to type me as INFP before. Like today, I saw a bug, average sized beetle like creature, getting attacked by a huge group of ants. They were attacking it and ripping at it. I know it's part of nature, and it happens, but once I see something like that if I can, I tend to prevent it from happening. I'm aware the ants aren't eating. Meh. I swept the bug carefully to take off all of the excess ants. Then, I put it on the table (ants still on it's leg and body) and ran to get tweezers. I carefully pulled off all of the ants from the bug, and then got a rag, and made a little cave for it to die peacefully in. (It was weak from the ant's trying to eat it and all.) And I kind of felt bad because I initially saw that bug earlier, and put it on the chair on a piece of paper. Having had the thought the paper could fly off and make the bug fall again, susceptible to getting eaten. But figured it'd be fine.... I came back to find it being killed. I felt guilty, I helped.

I think that's about the only thing I have in common with your sister from what you listed. I don't have tattoos or see a point in them since they scar my body for life, I don't care for them, and I'm crazy so I'll be too anal about the way it looks if I actually got one anyway.

My issue with INTJ is Te... Hmm. I will look more into that now.
And that's interesting. They way you use Fe. I'm still not sure how I let me "F" out. My mind is kind of a blank on that subject at the moment. Music is the only thing I can think could have that effect on me. I've been double majoring in Music and Opera for a while.

And lyrically lacking. Lol.:p Funny.
I can try okay. "Moon dust, oh moon dust.. why do you blow. Oh! Because you know! About my phone?!" That means I got a new phone today.... I did.. I got it exchanged because it was malfunctioning...
Okay. I'll stop.

Having had the thought the paper could fly off and make the bug fall again, susceptible to getting eaten. But figured it'd be fine.... I came back to find it being killed. I felt guilty, I helped.

She works on a farm maintaining a herd of stray cats in spite of my many efforts to begin culling the herd as a form of invasive species control, doing awkward things with chickens, dancing with goats, and stuffing prolapsed uteruses back into dairy cows... She wants to start a pre-vet program in the fall, so sort of the same I guess.

I'm considering INTJ mainly because I believe a female INTJ would show increased signs of "F" due to biological reasons (hormones ftw), although they would still be T-dominant. I'm assuming biology is the reason why 2/3 of men are Ts and 2/3 of women are Fs.

The above should also apply to a female INTP...

When first reading your post I was thinking "wow this sounds like me". Then I got to the "I'm a girl" part and I felt like your avatar. I cant help you type as I'm noob to this whole system. I wasn't aware woman like you existed .

Female INTPs do exist, you know, although it's difficult since we're effectively the opposite of the western female ideal. We INTPs are all about the mind, so physical appearance doesn't matter too much, although of course there are different gender pressures. It is interesting how it can be difficult to distinguish between male and female INTP posts. Anyway, I'm another one right here, and I know of several more. This is all meant good-naturedly, of course.

With regards to INTP and INTJ, my best friend for seven years or so now has been a female INTJ and I can tell you there are marked differences, although of course there are also many similarities. My INTJ tends to be more assertive and even though she tells me sometimes that she isn't all that confident what she says, she sounds that way. She also has the famous INTJ stare. INTJs and INTPs can be similar in their tendencies (given the dominant introversion, thinking and intuition which of course leads to similarities) but underneath it all they share no functions. That's basically how it seems to me anyway.

I'm glad you didn't take my ignorance as insult :). I'm not certain of my type although pretty certain of the IT. I've met a few men that are comparable to my personality but have yet to run across a female. I'm guessing INTP woman are rather rare.

Lol, ummmm.
Yeah. That was funny. I'm not sure if that was sarcasm, but the idea of both being comparable was funny atm. I should try the things listed above. Sounds like a fun weekend.

You're welcome. In my experience, they are rather rare. I often wonder whether there's another at my school. There might be, but it's difficult to judge. My Fe seems to be really underdeveloped so I try to judge based on someone having more opportunities to work on it. I had friends but one dropped out due to illness, another didn't go to my school and others... I just defaulted to being a loner. I go to a fairly good girls' school so I expect there to be one or two that I know of. Typing, however, is difficult. I can't judge how well-developed their Fe might be in comparison to my own.

With regards to your own type, experience has taught me to look to the functions. If you know what to look for then it's easier. DaveSuperPowers on youtube is an excellent source of information. I'm not brilliant on functions, but I'd say this paragraph right here is an example of Ne. I can't stay still on one idea for very long. Even when I do, I'm jumping around connections between it and other ones. Ti would seem to me to be wanting to categorise everything. Si is knowledge/memory/sense of time/past experience. Not sure how to define Fe. I guess I should post a link to one of Dave's videos. He's done quite a few on INTPs. I think I made a list for an INTP friend of mine once and it was fairly long. I guess this whole paragraph and the subsequent video are also relevant to the general thread which is good. This happens to be one of my particular favourites of his. He's an INTJ, by the way; knows what he's talking about.

Awesome video! He made me almost certain of INTP, although physiologically I think I'm more ISTP. I was in organized sports from 4-18 so I'm very coordinated and slightly muscular. When he talked about INTP's running he was describing me. I think I'll go watch all of his videos now :D.

You're welcome. He does excellent videos. I hope you enjoyed them =) You're lucky in being more physically adept. I'm capable in several sports but unfortunately lack in strength and stamina.

Typically strength and stamina are conditioning oriented. If your trying to improve upper body strength as a female it will be much more difficult. Is there a specific sport or activity your training for? I might be able to help; kinesiology, physiology and nutrition are some of my fortes. I also helped train my ex girlfriend as a powerlifter, I know how woman have to approach such differently.

No there isn't. Thanks, though. Interesting to learn.

So far after reading more on functions and all, and other things i'm still stuck. I'm not quite exactly sure how to decide on one. So many different combinations make sense for me. On another note, I did read the descriptions of INTPs when they were kids http://personalitycafe.com/intp-articles/15683-development-intp-children.html and I agree with a lot of it. My parent's definitely did what the writing says parent's should not do to their INTP child. So if I am an INTP, sucks for me.

Haha, that's one way to look at it.

Lol.

It is :P
Me asking my parent's about anything at any age, ended in them telling me to shut up, to stop being rude because they are tired. (Rude because i'm asking questions and they don't want to be asked anything.) Or it resulted in the answer "Because god did it." That or telling me they are so happy that this is just a phase, and asking me when i'd grow out of it. All jokingly but they mean't it I'm assuming. Mother is an ISTJ, father I believe ESFJ.

Yeah....

Most of the time I felt like this. :storks: or like this.
Finally it ended in me just resorting to..... :kilroy:

Betting on INFJ, OP sounds like a description of me :O Fascinating

I think INTJ can be ruled out on the basis of no friggin Te and no friggin tertiary Fi.
There's too many Ni dom signs for INTP to be the case.

Damn I forgot about this. I am an INTP. Took the official test and everything, though i don't put much weight in that. I understand the system very well now and days. It's about the functions. I don't base my decisions on emotions, and think that people that do are rather reckless. Don't feel much ever as it is, as INFJs would be more inclined to do, so don't see where you got INFJ. I sort of wish I was in a way. My lack of emotion and rather monotonous being leads me into trouble sometimes. I most indulge in logic and science, and spend my time thinking and researching shit I like. Not sure what I wrote back then but I've progressively been getting out of depression...(The way I get depressed isn't the typical stereotype of sad, it's more of a dead meaningless state) Whatever I wrote was me, unhealthy and fucked in the head trying to appease to others' ideas of me. It wasn't all true. I was 21 when I made that post, and today is my birthday... I am 23 now. A lot of time has gone by, but that shows you how unhealthy someone can get. I guess you have to read through the lines. I'm pretty much your text book INTP though. Thanks for your input man.
Once I finished with MBTI I moved into Socionics just for entertainment purposes, so this was refreshing.
Pardon the poor grammar/spelling errors if any, on my phone. Anywho, physics exam now. PM me if you'd like to discuss anything on MBTI since you seem to relate to some things in my OP. Free to help if needed. Also what you relate to could be on the surface. It's all about the motivation behind the actions that you perform, that on the surface may seem similar. Also, you are relating to me in an unhealthy state, and that is something to think about. Shadow functions and shit. I realize now looking at pure actions was a bit foolish of me and is merely a step. Anywho, I wish to now close this thread though since I don't wish to be typed, for future reference to others.

Thanks again to anyone that gave their two cents.

after reading through the rest of the thread and how you don't care bout group dynamics and stuff INTP seems like a better fit since you hardly seem to be an Ni/Ti looped INFJ whos defensively detaching herself

Now I just have to reconcile the signs of Ni that I saw with actual reality >.<

I do have some questions I kinda want to ask since your description of yourself was so similar to how I would've described me, so I may PM you!

Lulz. Oh no not defensively detaching. I think I was actually trying to "attach" lol. To become a well rounded person.

Also, everyone uses Ni. Any type can, what you saw could have been Ni as much as any other function - But still, our most prominent functions make us our "type". So many contradictions in the system either way, but it was fun to play with for a while. Anywho, PM me or Skype me if you want to chat about MBTI or dirt sometime.

Thanks for updating, Stellar.

As I was reading through the thread I started forming an analysis which ended up matching with what you said! Mainly based around the presence of weak Fe, as well as signs of depression, in the OP. Also, your most recent post here definitely sounds different - more integrated and whole. Good that you're coming out of your rut.

Why, thank you. Lulz. That's the conclusion I came to about Fe as well. That and a whole bunch of other shit working in tandem. Quite a few people have assumed i'm ENTP online.
I'm 2 years older now. It's about time I came out of that crap.

Thanks again.
