I suggest I could put the coordinate here but then
So I read a science magazine (too bad it is in my native language which is not English so I will have to translate it) that there is a study on what is the number which are most likely to get chosen if people are to be asked to think of a random positive integer less than 100. So the result is rather surprising, there are 2 number that have a distintively high frequency. It is claimed that the research is done in 7 countries, with equal number of people in 3 different race, and the total number of people is 20000 (I notice 20000 is not divisible by 3, but I guess the number is just an approximation). So anyway let's see if you can personally relate to the research, and discuss anything about that weird research here.

Also, the 2 "favourite number" are:
1st: 37; 2nd: 33

^I suspect Enne was joking too...Where the hell is that sarcastic font when we need it?!?

My favorite number is 12 but I often find myself choosing 87 at random a lot. Not really that random now that I think about it...

Wow, I've always liked 37. I guess I'm typical and boring after all.

I also like multiples of 11, and I tend to choose prime numbers because they're not "normal" to me for some reason, and thus I think no one wil be able to guess it.

I also like 87 because it's my birth year. Yay.

I don't have favourite numbers probably because I have pretty severe dyscalculia. However I do hate that number which is the result of multiplying 8 x 7 because I can never remember what it is or work it out.

Dyscalculia sucks!!!!!

Seriously - it's been the bane of my life, like a huge hole in my brain.

A few years ago I decided that I like 2^n, and of possible values for those my two favourite are 128 and 1024, 512 is quite nice too

13, followed by 42, 44, and then the powers of 2.

33 and 37 are ugly.

Hmm, 7 x 8 = 7 x 7 + 7 = 49 + 7 = umm, 56, right?

This is how I go about math.
Thank god for calculators.

I always disliked 3 and 7 the most of the numbers 0-9. Now 37? Awful!

I have a huge preference for even numbers, especially 2. My favourite number is 22, after that 24, 28 and of course, 42. :D

I found a dyscalculia symptom checklist and I fit 9 out of the 11 points. I suspected as much- math has always been hard for me and for a long time I thought I was just plain dumb. When I was a junior (3rd year) in college I was tested for and diagnosed with learning disabilities. I am also a horrible speller- could this be related?

Does anyone also attribute gender to digits (that go beyond masculine and feminine properties in a language [English has none])? Letters? Colors?

Well, you gotta go deeper than that - beyond pink and sky blue... You go there, phantome? THREAD SPLIT!

PS - I'm immature enough to have wanted to say my favorite number was 69, and then pretend that there's no sexual reference that can be made with 69 when people keep poking at it, which would then lead to people going out of their way to clarify for me (because, at that point, people would start to really think I'd never heard of this), to which I would just say, "Well, that's just immature." *laugh track*

we call them 'specific learning disabilities' here in the UK - and yes probably related to your spelling - dyslexia and dyscalculia often go together as well as dyspraxia and general disorganisation (which I have). I was born with a near-perfect spelling gene though so it's not always the case that you have all types.

Of course you may still just be dumb.

;)

I live at number 42

Both, though I did it more for the alphabet than anything...
Spent alot of my time as a child attempting to decide whether e was a guy or girl. Right now I lean towards female, and pale orange.

Planets.
For instance, 4 is associated with Jupiter, which is a cool planet, so I like 4.

... but that's astrology for ya.

5 should be metallic orange.

You think so? I was always convinced e was male and green. The A, however, red and female. The o is black. I prefer the green letters to all others.

I like numbers that are highly divisible. 12 and 60 make me happy.

Overall though, I don't quite understand the question 'favorite number'... or favorite color. Without a context, I draw a blank... favorite holds no meaning for number... at least to me.

Also, Dormouse and Kidege, I've always felt e was a strong male type. Very extraverted, too (by a very large coincidence).

And he's straight up blue.

I'm in line perfectly with Kidege's A. f is green. h is orange. Both are male, and wonderful friends! i is a total nerd, white, and a loser by all trades.

EDIT: this conversation is so fun!

13 is a particular favorite of mine simply because it's suppose to be unlucky.

I like 17 because it is supposed to be unlucky according to Pytago (sorry forgot his name but he got a theorem about 3 side of a right-angle triangle).
I once open a metal password-lock (my friend's one) on first try by put in 37. I was just trying to show him just how easy it is too brute-force a 2-digit lock, but I got lucky and it is pretty funny when I saw the expression on his face.

I looked up dyspraxia and it doesn't sound too familiar. When I'm really stressed I can have a hard time deciding where to move next, or what I should do next, but I consider this more of an overstimulation issue than a motor skills issue.

Organization does not come naturally to me. I can do it and keep it up, I just have to work a little harder for it.

My default assumption is that I am a fool most of the time.

Also, I like the numbers 23 and 88.

There are some very good specialists who can help you figure this out. It's not uncommon that people with dyscalculia also have dyslexia or other issues with spelling.

I chose 756. It's just...the best number ever.

If I had to choose a second, I suppose I would pick 1/3. Things always group into 3rds well; 1/3 is a number that goes on forever;

e? Blue? Don't be ridiculous. Maybe a very dark navy, but even that's stretching it. I agree with him (yes, I've decided he really is male) being an extrovert, and very popular. Watch out though, ladies, he's a player.

q (purple) is a dominant, pushy female and u (pale green) is her man-slave.

My favorite number is probably 8 or 78. Not 7 though, that's too popular, as are 13 and 21. I do like 56, mainly because in (whatever grade we learned multiplication) my teacher taught us a little tune, I guess, to remember "7 times 8 is... 56!" Mm. Of course, 1066 for its historical significance and the resulting phrase "The what-if's of 1066". Yeah,

I have stronger ties to words though, but I'm sure that's true for most people. (Does anyone else find the word "feasible" to be absolutely revolting? It's just... ugh!)

Awesome. I always wanted synesthesia! (Not even kidding... Since I was around 10 .)

Oh, come on, anyone can give colors to numbers and letters without thinking too much about it, it's just a matter of noticing patterns on how they're used and some people do it intuitively and some don't. I think synesthesia is a totally different thing, it's related to actually receiving stimulus through your senses, right? I mean... Thinking about it I can't see how different it is from... What I seem to do but... If that's really synesthesia then I have some pretty intense one going on here and no one ever told me, despite them fully knowing what it is.

Also: E is not blue, not blue at all, fuck you guys.

A is blue.
E is orange.
