I have tested at an INTP four times in the past 2.5 years, but I do have a few J tendencies. I am here because I am deprived of intellectual conversation and I've been craving it a lot lately.
About Me: I'm 18, going to the University of Pittsburgh for a double major in sociology & social sciences (history/political science) with a minor in counseling psych. My activities are reading educational articles, graphic design, anything computer/technology related, discovering new music, volunteering, doing retarded exercise dvds to keep my butt in shape, and learning Arabic. I'm not very good at writing about myself so if you'll just have to ask if you want to know anything else :)

Arabic? Yikes. That one's ranked as one of the hardest languages for native english speakers to learn (and my brief perusal of it would seem to support this hypothesis). I'm impressed.

If one contemplates a future as a counselor, why the double major in group dynamics, instead of sociology and psychology?

It seems to me, because humans have both a personal identity and a social identity that any approach that just focuses on one type of identity for problem solving purposes is basically short-sighted(?)

BTW - Welcome...

Welcome!

Hah, you'll find more than your fair share of intellectual conversation here. I felt the same way before coming, and now I feel quite ignorant; apparently there are people in this world who can think. Its quite amazing to read in depths debates about economics and the like, only to find yourself researching the topics independently to better understand the arguments.

Yeah it is lol. I'm in the beginning stages but I'm very motivated, I want to travel to the Middle East and/or Africa to be an aid worker at some point.

Well psychology is still a big apart of my Social Sciences degree its just not the main focus. I have to take a lot of psychology classes to fulfill the requirements both of my degrees as well as my minor. I realize that my previous statement is more of an excuse than a response but in reality I just love learning so I want to get as much under my belt as I can. However, I must admit I have also wondered if I should just focus on psych instead but if I ever decide that is what I should do it would be very easy for me to switch it so I'm not worried.
