Whats up with these new kids and their hate for memes?

Like whenever i see any memes or sarcasm or jokes, these kids are like :cringe: or this meme has gone too far etc.,

Its like the new kids like to think of themselves like they are some stoic Russian guy or sumth
But i think the real reason is they completely lack any kind of imagination to give a funny reply to any kind of sarcasm/memes

This is especially the worst in gaming subreddits and forums, how kids dont seem to like anything funny, or are retardedly argumentative...
And also zero attention span, they see a new game they be like OMG OMG OMG so kewl, and the old game is so shitty it has x, y, z problems etc and whatcha know, the new game is nowhere to be seen 3-4 months down the line (ie, Overwatch now like how Hearthstone or HotS was)

</rant>

btw, i rate my post 5/7

Memes poisoned my water supply, burned my crops, and delivered a plague unto my house.

It's expected as majority of the content in human brains is shit or has only personal value. They can't help but reiterate more of the shit they already know or enjoy.

I always thought memes were for trolling or just to get people to laugh. :D

I guess I'm wrong.

YES

Hillary wants a Manhattan Project for memes, and Trump has been trying to pump up the pepe market so he can dump his pepes when prices are high.

I just think YOLO should stop hanging out on gaming forums with 12 year olds, who are known to be patently obnoxious when put into that environment, and stop asking stupid questions.

^ Same!

Seriously people who can't handle memes...

ywvBBZI.gif

See here's the thing: that's not even a meme.

The word, "meme" has just become the word people use for any random picture/GIFs with a caption, when it's nothing even remotely memetic.

People go onto some meme-generator website, or google search an image (then put it in MSPaint) and then add a caption and say, "haha xD!!! I created a meme whaddya think guys?!" simultaneously revealing their utter lack of personality and their sub-50 IQ in one fell swoop.

Also people who say, "cringe" need to be shot. All of them. This is a matter of great eugenic importance.

Not sure how Fukyo survived a nuclear strike but it looks like the parasites have developed an immunity to radiation.

And bullets.

Nah, seriously. I can see your point. If we stick to the fact that memes are just catchy ideas spread widely trough the internet, then you're right. However I think there is a difference between funny pics, memes and '' false memes ''. For example Bad Luck Brian and Asian Dad are memes. This :

Is just a random funny pic.

Memelike pictures ( pics with captions ) ressemble more popular real memes like Asian Dad and Bad Luck Brian, hence they're just called memes too. It just became a thing.

The wired
The problem with memes is that while they increase the speed of communication, the ideas communicated are generally simplistic and superfluous. Just novelty garbage to make people feel a small sense of being witty or in tune with the times. And I totally sympathize if "this" generation (which would that be?) is growing tired of them after the torrent of banality that has swept the internet in the last few years. People can only take so much before they get sick. Perhaps we have reached peak meme? And it'll be some 10 or 15 years until they make a comeback as retronostalgia for the 2010s. Sounds horrible. :ahh:

I guess this means I'm old. Now get off my astroturf!

Also gaming subreddits and forums full of try-hard fanboy consumer whores? Say it ain't so!

I find it all very interesting.

Each meme is an appeal to the linker's authority as someone who has identified a pattern. It's signalling meta-awareness. But, by the very fact it's a meme, it can't be an original thought. If it were original, it couldn't possibly be a meme yet as it wouldn't have been reproduced. If you link a meme that's too unoriginal, that's been linked too many times, you identify yourself as a loser sheep. You don't know how to identify good new memes to follow, so you're just copying, which is the exact opposite of what is intended by meming.

Memes are the new fashion industry.

And it will almost certainly by cyclical, with memes that have fallen out of rotation reclaiming their value as insightful observations. Just like fashion where only the keenest eye can spot the value of an item despite the lack of popular support. Not that it's even that new, there's already memes about old meme nostalgia.

So when you criticise memes, it's just a new meme game. You're claiming to be ahead of the meta (whether that's your intention or not is a different question). Well... Both the criticism and the memes are subsets of the meta-posturing set. It's reframing the narrative so that, rather than having to be in on the newest most dank memes and fashion, your rejection of it is proof of your meta-awareness. It's like a bipass, flying the flag of authenticity. Just like our dankmemester king YOLO here who is too real to partake in the latest fad game. He too real for that. And too real to not flaunt his fabulous concept fashion also (somehow).

/thoughts

And by calling out both the memer and the anti memer, I'm the next step in the cycle of meta-claiming, being too meta to partake in either *eyeroll*
