I am a huge fan of the sims, mainly because i love creating things and making my own worlds (although i still feel somewhat limited by the game) But i dont really like to play their lives out? . I was wondering if other intps share the same interest with me for the same reasons?

I just used to enjoy using cheats to get money, and then building big houses.

I've always been a fan of simcity though.

I've used to play TheSims 1, creating the family and the house (and hotels in the expansion) was fun but making them get a job and live their lives was boring - I already have to do that IRL.

Then I found out about Google SketchUp. Way more fun.

OP I was thinking the exact opposite not that long ago. I was thinking that people with low S might not be able to enjoy this game as it is focused on the continuous maintenance of life, something which I find to be a miserable task which you could not pay me to do. You have focused on the creation element, which I had not taken into account.

I absolutely loved the sims until I realized how tedious it all was. Building the house was always the best part, followed closely by furnishing and decorating the house, yet once you've finally achieved all that, there's nothing left to do. The entire game builds up for a inevitable boring, materialistic letdown. Using the cheat codes can fast-forward this process to which this is achieved, saving days if not weeks of wasted time trying to achieve that same end result, yet even using those only serves to make it even more apparent just how pointless the game actually is.

I like making and decorating houses then moving in someone beautiful and having him marry the butler, then I lose interest. A pets expansion's recently been announced for The Sims 3. I'm excited about that because dogs are my favourite thing in the world and whenever there's a pets expansion I can just sit being happy with a dog for hours like I've been lobotomised or something.

I too only like the initial steps: entering cheat codes for money, building house, decorating house, making people... I was excited to make a baby until I realized how bloody long they take to grow up- is there a cheat to make this process speed up?

When making people, I always strive to make them look like people I know... Most often myself:o:phear:

Sims 1 was so much fun. I loved creating perfect little houses and couples with children (Scissorhand/Pleasantville style), then make it all go to crap:
-Two straight couples meet up and the girls begin to fall in love while the guys remain clueless, jealous and miserable.
-A family with two kids and one gets yelled at for no good reason while the other gets perfect parenting.
-The good old "pool trick" where you stick some guy in it and remove the ladder to see him unable to escape.

Aaah jokes. I love games that give you enough room on the f.ing leash to do things that go against the main purpose of the game. Other example: Deus Ex and that kid that you could murder and throw overboard.

Apparently I was a wrathful creator because I would habitually design an ornate house only to install a swimming pool and purposefully leave out a ladder or means of escape. Subsequently, there would be some inducement to enter the pool. Poor drowned sims people. Meh, the point was to craft: by the time the house had residents, the interest was gone and it was on to a new house.

I played the first sims. After I became the Mayor by seducing all the women in the neighborhood, I got bored and decided to build a cemetery. The pool was so useful for acquiring gravestones. It worked out well. The cemetery was stuffed with ghosts. I would like to pick up the newer sims sometime too.
