I do smoke a little more than the average person, but looking over my previous posts, an inordinate amount of them seem to mention marijuana in some way. Though, "sit and smoke" time does have some substantial overlap with "sit and post" time.

do you folks think marijuana will be legalized in california in november? apparently, a majority of the state is in favor of the measure, even people who would not smoke but figure it could help fiscally, or people who have seen the ineptness of regulation first hand. california was first to approve it medicinally, so it stands to reason that they would be the first to codify it recreationally too. is adymus from cali?

Couldn't agree more. Not that I was ever a big drinker, as I started smoking first, but drinking just seems to take a heavier toll overall on the body. Smoke some, get a nice relaxed feeling going, or smoke a lot and really start to have some fun. Drinking anywhere past "tipsy" always seems to send me running for the bathroom, and I've never found throwing up to be quite as fun as most folks my age seem to.

"Oh dude, it was GREAT! I got SOOO drunk, I puked everywhere!"

Sure, it passes with experience and increasing tolerance levels, but why work for a feeling that I don't fully enjoy anyway? It makes for less social anxiety, and that's usually the situation where I'll toss back a few, but a little THC works just as well, even better, for that anxiety.

I don't get high just for the buzz, I get high for the things that come from the buzz. (Thoughts, new perspectives, a healthier, more confident state of mind to make judgement on my decisions from, motivation for and improvement in quality of social interactions)

One time, I went camping with a bunch of Mormons. I decided to smoke.
As we were by the campfire, I was feeling all deep (haha yeah I know) so I started sharing my thoughts. What I can remember was along the lines of this:
"We've gotta protect ourselves from the nightly creatures, I think I'll jump in the fire for protection." Then I looked at the trees and was like, "I feel so drawn to the trees, it means so much! The trees are darkness, yet I'm so loving it....."

On and on... haha, if you don't know what Utah Mormons are like, you won't find it funny, I don't think.

Designed that over the summer...and it can be ordered from chemistry supply sites for roughly 50 bucks including shipping (if I recall correctly)....I, of course, have yet to follow through with it yet, however.

that was actually a typo, it's more of a pipe than a bong. they're rly low-tech, the first time i made one was at bonnaroo '08 out of items i had on hand which was no more than an apple and a pocket knife/multi-tool. i took an apple and carved out the core a little, bore out a little carb on the side. put a pipe screen on the top of the apple of and push it in towards the core a little to make a bowl. then put weed onto the screen, light it and inhale. you can use any fruit or vegetable with a firm flesh.

we hotboxed my bathroom last week with the help of a gravity bong/"suction" bong/water bong/whatever the fuck you want to call it, i've heard it called so many things. the one with the bucket. but anyway, our friend ian is a genius at that shit. he made it out of an old 2-liter sprite bottle and some aluminum foil. it worked like jesus.

i still prefer smokin' a jay though. that's how we roll in germany. fuck pipes, man, they're so annoying and unnecessary. and if you roll just right, make it look just like a cigarette, you can smoke while you're walking around in public. it's beautiful.


enough of me flaunting my stonerness for now. too early in the morning for this shit. having not smoked in two days, i can feel a case of insomnia cropping up. it's horrible.

It's not that marijuana and other substances are legal in Holland, it's more accurate to say that the laws are simply not enforced. They can be however; just a year or two ago authorities cracked down on the sale of psilocybin mushrooms in Dutch coffee shops. Which is a shame really. Psilocybin is less toxic than aspirin, and anyone who has ever taken psychedelic drugs knows how amazing they can be.

It's all about the blunt. The blunt is like Joint 2.0; Better taste, more weed, slower burning. I don't know what its like everywhere else but here in Massachusetts I barely ever see people smoke joints. Its all about the blunt.

i don't like blunts much either. joints really are perfect, especially if you're only passing in a group of three, like i usually am (boyfriend and best friend, can't get better than that). plus, i like to feel like i'm actually smoking something, so the tobacco is a nice touch, but that's just personal preference. blunts are too flimsy, too.

i've only had a couple blunts that have blown my mind. one was prepared like a day in advance, so it was super dry and perfect. the other was sloppy and horrible, but it was just me and my boyfriend, and it was the first time i like... saw music. so that was cool.

Blunts are the only thing I don't really like or smoke often. Then again, I don't smoke cigarettes or other tobacco products, so my brain wouldn't associate those flavors with pleasure from incoming nicotine.

Too much of a blunt will always make me sick. It's an interesting feeling considering the nausea suppression from the marijuana. The lightheadedness and discomfort that usually go with nausea are there, but the urge to throw up never comes. It could also just be the natural nicotine rush that is uncomfortable for me, thus my aversion of tobacco.

I would have to agree with not being the biggest fan of blunts, however I had an experience with a blunt that had taken a nap in a tray of liquid codeine and it floored me..

Hmmm, is this implying that all joints have tobacco in them where you're from? Here that would be the difference between a joint (no tobacco) and a spliff (half and half).

From my limited experience smoking up in Denmark and Germany, most joints there had tobacco in them. The ones in Denmark were tobacco and hash, but that could be because of the easy availability of said hash in a wonderful place known as Christiania.

it's awesome how many people i know have parents who still smoke, or would still smoke if they didn't have jobs that drug tested. or other relatives who smoke.

i can't wait to go home and smoke a jay with my mommy. she doesn't know i smoke yet, but i figure i tell her once i'm done with my senior year. i'll show her my grades (currently, i have all A's, because school is buttfuck easy), and then i'll say, "mommy, i got these grades, and i smoked marijuana every day! isn't that funny, mommy!"

and then we'll laugh and laugh, and then we'll laugh some more because we'll probably both be high.

There are generally only two reasons I'm not high at any given time: a) it really sets off my social anxiety, so I'd rather not be high when interacting with others, unless I'm very comfortable with them. b) more importantly, I can never fucking find the stuff. It's been weeks since I smoked, it'll probably be another few weeks before I can again, and without it I find myself anxious, bitter, having negative thoughts, unable to focus on my work, etc.

Seriously, I would have learned and produced so much more if I could get a steady supply. I was going to move to California, but circumstances have delayed that for at least a year. Not to mention I may be starting a business in Florida, in which case I don't know wtf I'm gonna do for the stuff. For me it isn't even about smoking for fun, it actually is a sort of self-medication.

Also, about Cali & the november vote, according to the polls the majority ARE in favor of legalization, but of that majority most are only somewhat in favor, where as the people who are against are STRONGLY against it. So don't get your hopes up too early.

Intensity of your feelings on an issue often determine who actually shows up at the polling place though. IIRC that's part of how Bush got re-elected, was that in certain states they had votes on homosexual marriage laws included in the presidential election, which caused the anti-gay Christian fundamentalist crowd to turn out in a landslide.

And personally, I don't want the Republicans to sweep Congress in a few months, believe me I really don't want that. But after Obama's bullshit on privacy issues, transparency in government, ACTA, bailing out Citigroup (who had former execs as members of his transition team)... I'm kind of wondering how much I even care, which is de facto helping the Republicans even though I'm highly opposed to their being elected.

So I think intensity does matter.
