I found her boring before she even started talking about the topic. If I wanted to make a video that people would NOT pay attention to, and wouldn't understand, then I would make a video like this.
1) Sabine, how can a high climate sensitivity tell you if your country's economy will collapse in 20 years? It's about the climate, dummy, not the frigging economy!!! Keep your frigging pension. If you are worried, you should be moving to somewhere really, really cold, like Antarctica. Yes, it's a nightmare to live in right now. But if you are right, then before long, it will be nice and toasty. So why aren't you moving to Antarctica or Alaska?
2) Sabine, deserts are definitely not places where viruses and bacteria thrive. No water for them to live off. Viruses and bacteria are common in tropical climates.
3) Sabine, why are you giving your money to save tortoises and lynx that will be dead in 20 years because of climate change? If it gets much hotter, then it will be too hot for those animals to live in their native environment. Unlike humans who can just go elsewhere, most animals don't have that level of sentience.
So Sabine here, is claiming more bad news with climate change.
For those who want to know here is what she says in short.
There is a number in climate change models, called sensitivity.
This really tells us how much the model is true.
Essentially its very possible the models that were discounted before might actually be the worst and most true.
It's just as possible that the worst models are the least true. This sort of thing will bring out the pessimists.
Don't get me wrong. I was a pessimist most of my life. But it's not going to help me to be pessimistic, unless we take action. What action can we take to prevent the worst case scenario? Well, the worst case scenario is that human-made climate change is destroying the planet due to us using petrolum and natural gas, to the extent that as long as keep using any of that, we are doomed.
So the only rational response to this, is to ban all cars and planes, and send us back to a pre-industrial lifestyle.
Sure, people lived a harder life then. But humans survived without any fossil fuels for 200,000 years. Surely we can survive that for a few decades, till we get all our modern tech converted to use only green energy, and then we can go back to the times like now.
Sure, that will require more physical effort. But there's an obesity crisis going on. We NEED people working out more. This will mean they'll get plenty of fresh air and exercise, without having to spend hours in the gym.
Sure, it will mean less time using gadgets that burn energy. But social media is already causing a global pandemic of mental illness.
So, if you stop all cars, and all planes, and all petroleum production, all petrol-based products, etc, then it's a win, win, win, baby.
Besides, if the ECS is this bad, sounds like we have no other choice.
