I have an Congo African Gray, named Hercules. I didn't name but a girl at the store I got him at did saying that she was having a bad day and that she got to name him. There was more meaning in Hercules though not specifically for me than I could come up with in a new name. So he kept his old name. I'll refer to him as male though his actual gender is unknown, to find that out for his species you need a DNA test or surgical examination.
(the typical morning ritual for us) It's the morning and his cage is covered with blankets.

- In my sleep I hear his voice saying, "hello" and "good morning". I know he is asking me to uncover his cage, which I do.
- I'll call out to him, "Whose a pretty bird?" He answers cheerfully, "Hercules!" I'll tell him "Good boy!" and then get him out of the cage.
- With him on my hand I'll ask him for a kiss and he will touch his beak to my nose and make kissing sounds. I'll pet him for awhile or tickle his belly and if he responds well, I'll exclaim, "Bravo!!" (That is a code word that means he gets a treat.)
- He gets excited about getting a treat and I'll tell him, "Go inverted." He rolls backwards on my finger and hangs upside down. I move him over a bag of peanuts and he picks out a peanut.
- After he picks a peanut I hold out my free hand and he drops the peanut into my finger and gets upright on my finger.
- I put him on top of his cage and then I get back under the covers and hide the peanut in one of the folds of the blanket. He flies down and gives my fingers a kiss and then searchs for the peanut.
- When he finds it he flies back to his cage and then clambers inside his cage and eats the peanut there, there is less mess that way!
