Good watch, wish I could have muted the guy who couldn't stop coughing.

Gabe is very transparent with his ideas and structure, which looks to be one of his underlying advantages in the real world. He wants everyone to succeed and win, mapping the groundwork for the future, not only in the gaming distribution corner, but mapping a vision for all future corporations and products produced.

Like he said in the video, it's happening here in a digital reality and it'll just be a matter of time until that efficiency translate into real world environments, until it overtakes all aspects and is the basis of modern day business.

Strikes me as someone with an intent vision that doesn't have the power to change the world yet, might not in his lifetime, but is pushing it out there (like these hour long talks, which in the video the host said he was doing the same talk, back to back, just to get his thoughts to the college students), as strong as possible, hoping the make a large impact, hopefully shaking real world business structuring. If real world businesses can see his method, which is obviously very successful, and pioneering, those who try to implement it ASAP and success will be seen as real life pioneer corporations trying the unknown and reaping the benefits before the rest follow suit.

I like his philosophy. He payed big money to developers while others were trying to downgrade payments. Few CEOs care about people to be honest. I feel that this is what attracted best developers, as he said hires spread the word to friends.

We just heard another confirmation that it's important to care about your employees a lot. Not because it's a toil but because it's basic ethics and shows that the developer is not a cog in a machine. Listened to the half of talk. Will complete it later. Nice share, OP.

It is not that surprising. It would be more surprising if we created something entirely new.

I like the idea that we will arrive at the same place anyway (if we ever arrive), what matter is how long it takes. This was true for medieval theater (which actually reinvented the wheel, having no real data on the traditions of Ancient Greece) and I think it is true for other ideas as well (feel free to refute that, I might be slightly off base here).

Thanks. I didn't know about him or his history, glad for the introduction. He and I share the same interests (machining, economics, software, etc>) with apparently similar degrees of expertise, but I'm not a game expert though I follow the industry. Interesting to hear more details on game economics. I went to two game developer conferences last year which discussed these issues also.

The best part of the talk is at the end where unfortunately he's pressed for time, but there are two key takeaways.

§ One is the idea that corporations are pre-internet ways of organizing people, and that the internet is far better at that then any large corporation you care to mention.

§ Two is what is becoming an information technology and subject to exponential growth. He mentioned 3D printing as an example where in the future people won't be buying physical standardized goods, but customized one off goods that are information based.

I find successful entrepreneurs to be a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of business and personal lives. I like the ones in the gaming world more so because consumers to not alienate them from their products. This put more onus on them to be "decent" and "likable". :)
