okay, i dunno about you, but i love them.

the only ones i've played are games that nobody seems to know though.

has ANYBODY ever seen/heard of/played la pucelle: tactics? because it's fucking amazing. like, for real, go get it, NOW. please.

i'm also currently addicted to shin megami tensei: devil survivor, which i think is probably slightly more popular, but i really don't know since i don't talk to people about video games ever.

so, anyone?

I've had a copy of La Pucelle sitting here for a month or two, and I fully intend to get to it sooner or later. I remembered hearing about it when it first came out, but have only recently acquired a PS2, so I'm pretty well behind the times. :P

I did, however, play the hell out of the original Final Fantasy Tactics, which I thought was pretty good. Were you into that one, Shoeless?

I'm curious what facet of these games attracts you so, Shoeless... as opposed to, say, a more general strategy game. Can you figure it out to share with us?

Played and completed Devil Survivor, but it was probably a given seeing as I'm a fan of the SMT series anyway. My first tactics game was Vandal Hearts, which holds up pretty well after all these years.

I'm going to second Final Fantasy Tactics, though if you can't get a copy, legit or otherwise of the playstation version, there are several GBA based adaptions which you can pick up easily enough, legit or otherwise, though it doesn't hold a candle to the PSX original. Try to pick up one of the English versions of Fire Emblem.

I'm working off of the Tactical Roleplaying definition. This may or may not be what the OP had in mind, though I suspect it is.

anthile: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tactical_role-playing_game

anyway... what attracts me to tactics games...

that's hard to say off the top of my head. i'll think about it and reply later when i'm not supposed to be doing research on the iroquois.

and yeah, i meant the tactical roleplaying one. fun shit.

I like tactical rpgs.
the Front Mission series is my favorite on the consoles :3 Mechs and guns!
On pc i like me some Fallout Tactics, XCom
Not really a tactical rpg in the normal sense, but i think DoW2 fits here pretty good. It's a much more intimate RTS and you do become heavily invested in your squads.

Well, lack when they still had it on abandonia, I downloaded UFO Enemy Unkown (X-com) because it was on some list of "top 10 games of all time" or something like that. Despite the trouble finding a computer that can actually run it, I downloaded it and eventually got it working. It's a fabulous game, and I highly recommend it.

xcom is brutally hard though. there are a few XP patches around the net if you can't run the regular xcom game (i couldn't, the graphics would be mashed to the top 1/3 of the screen rendering it unplayable).

I'm guessing your on about Computer games? If so Europa Universalis III's a pretty good one, called a strategy game but along the same lines right?
More a board game person though, get involved in Diplomacy most tactical board game i've ever encountered anyway

I heard Europa Universalis III was pretty weak but I haven't tried it.
EU II is where it's at.

I have three of the four Advance Wars games. They're awesome needless to say.

I prefer chess though.

I've never found a tactics game I enjoy much, I think tactics games at the moment are very INTJish, and computers aren't yet powerful enough to create a game open-ended and complex enough to appeal to my pness

Did anyone here like Fallout Tactics? The only other title up there I am familiar with is Final Fantasy Tactics (which I absolutely loved). I'm sure everyone here likes fallout 1/2 way more, but something about Fallout Tactics just...I dunno, I just really liked it.

Grand strategy games by Paradox Interactive

Hearts of Iron II is highly recommended. HoI3 sucked...over-hyped.

Has anyone here played Go before?

Yes, and as to the rest of the thread, I don't think I have ever playeed an RPG tactics game

I am however into the "tactical wargame" genre such as Starcraft

EDIT: nevermind, it specifically means turn based, I'm not into that very much

So where does this go with personality? I love strategy games too (War of the lions, FFTA, Grimoire, Starcraft, Warcraft, AoE, Zeus, Chess and so many more) Is that Intuition?
