I finally found a hack that adds an extra Navbar --- the list of links below the topmost bar --- which duplicates the original exactly. Thus it looks like a single navbar with two rows.

This has freed up space upon the first, which previously had the Log Out link jutting to the right; and allowed the Ultimate Media Gallery ( annoyingly with the code provided, slightly different to the rest ) to have it's own link, as long promised. I had before taken out the FAQ link on the grounds that no-one needs it , but each time that took with it the oddly named ChatBox Full link despite the two pieces of code being in no way attached to one another except in a platonic sense.

It's not clear either who ever uses the Community links nor the Calendar --- but *shrugs*. And at present there are no less than four links to get to the main forums, which since we have no pointless Portal page, seems overkill, but that's vBull...

A list of implemented hacks is being prepared by captured trolls under the pampering care of dwarf overseers. After scrutiny from aged mages, eagles will fly it as soon as the screaming winds allow.

It's pretty, but why does the media link refuse to conform? Perhaps it needs to be put on medication?

*toys with the idea of one day taking a look at all the links*

Of course, people have to actually upload things to their galleries...

Most of vBull is like exploring an abandoned monastery: the promise is greater than the actuality. 'Treasure, no; but here's where they ate.'

I know, it was left from the examples provided by the hack-master --- most of which were to do with the noble sport of hiking.

I'll get round to taking it out later: one has to edit the template for each Style. I have no idea which Links were referenced, it being on a Link bar an' all...

So... the ultimate media gallery is intended for a different purpose than pictures and albums each user can make?

Also, while bravo on removing the links tab super quickly... it seems like it might have been useful if the staff wanted to officially post a group of links? (For whatever purpose...)

Simplest of all is to link to the hack itself, whereby members may work out exactly what they wish to do with it. Ultimate Gallery Lite. And yes, it is very sad to see the spelling Lite.

However, at it's most basic: there is a public, free-for-all, gallery to which anyone may upload --- once the proper settings have been found; but prolly more popular, any member can create their own private gallery, visible to all. As far as can be guessed, click the User CP in the Media bar --- not the topmost User CP in the navbar above --- and there's a drop-down menu, click Categories and from there it seems you can create your private galleries.

It's rather difficult for me to judge the settings since I don't know whether some links are only seen by me as admin or whether members can see them also... If things don't work it's rather helpful to tell us.

It's all rather experimental, and not aided by the hack-master's rough English; but it seems pretty clever. The allowed media needs to be expanded, but on the other hand at present we don't want the limited space to be swamped with over-large files.

The Pictures/Albums thing appears to be vBulletin's own effort included in their recent coy additions of 'Community'; 'Friends' and 'Social Groups', all of which can be safely ignored.

Also, while bravo on removing the links tab super quickly... it seems like it might have been useful if the staff wanted to officially post a group of links? (For whatever purpose...)

There is now enough space upon the navbars for around ten more links if ever needed. It automatically expands or contracts as objects are placed therein.

So true...

Only in that the words themselves are rather anaemic and fragile against the grey while the others are all so robust.

Truly then, you are a mad archeologist in search of scorched bones and tea-cup shards.

*sourly* I've worked --- very ineptly --- as illustrator in an archaeological office. Shards are incredibly dull except to trained archaeologists with the minds of gnats on crack. They also had a complete skeleton of some poor 14th century Scottish girl in a box in the storage area. I didn't look, not only cos I rather bar skeletons, but because it seemed disrespectful.

On the other hand, I found one could always depress the brightest archaeologist by pointing out that one day their own remains may be exhumed by puzzled enthusiasts.

That's what always got me about archaeology, I think it's completely hypocritical for archaeologists to do anything other than donate their body to science or medicine when they die. If it's fine for them to remove a bronze age person bones from his final resting place and file them away in a warehouse, the person who digs up the bones should have no wishes for the treatment of his own body when he dies

I see now you are addressing the appearance of the link itself in the navbar rather than the link as a thing in itself.

Having explained that in the first post... annoyingly with the code provided, slightly different to the rest I would be grateful enough for anyone to modify this link code to make it conform to the rest.

<td class="vbmenu_option"><a href="umg.php?$session[sessionurl]" accesskey="2">$vbphrase[umg_options]</a></td>

Astounding as it may seem the creator did not include this vital link within the mod, nor mention it anywhere else: instead he threw it in as an afterthought in a response in the comments received.

These dreamy artists... *shakes head*

OK, I found a cure for both the font and the reversed box effect: from page 23 of the comments in the hack page I discovered someone else complaining about the thin font, and the hackmaster suggested adding <strong> to his code.

Whilst doing this I glanced at the other link codes in the template and saw they didn't have 'vbmenu_option', but 'vbmenu_control'.

So on impulse I changed the code to:

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="umg.php?$session[sessionurl]" accesskey="2"><strong>$vbphrase[umg_options]</strong></a></td>

Now all conforms ( but I've still no notion of what the hell I did...).

That is very strange that making the referenced item bolded would fix the error...

Still, way to go. I appreciate the unified aesthetic. :)

I can confirm that creating a private gallery is possible, and the allowed uploads work.

When uploading one has to enter a description in an ordinary message box, and below is the upload button for the image, or whatever.
