Are you being an INTPerfectionist?
My favourite creative outlet is sand sculpture - I go to the beach and start piling up sand until the shape suggests something to me (usually a dog, horse or dragon; my adult son also does this and usually produces cars, boats or spacecraft). Then I shape it and fix it and smooth it for however many hours I have until the tide takes it all away.
Creativity expressed, perfectionism avoided!
I also have a 'busy box' for when I get that creative itch but can't be bothered finding a beach. It's got kiddy paints and glitters and coloured pencils and whiteboard markers etc. Something will appeal to me, even if it's just swirling colour on a page until it gets too soggy to continue.
I do also 'get creative' in more practical ways that come with the pressure to actually finish something, but sometimes it's the creating that's more important than the producing, if you know what I mean.
