Is the study of social life an evolution of an INTP's research?

Like any INTP I've been more or less isolated from "normal people" preferring books, video games and the net to pass time with.

Now that I'm in my 20's, I've become active at church and found out that people are quite interesting if I get close to them. The rude or uninteresting ones I usually ignore since I don't have any need for info regarding gaining social status and other non-sense. However, I do enjoy company of people whose fields are interesting but not currently available in my world such as music, arts and film making.

They say that my personality is "child-like". No idea why. Perhaps because I don't behave all macho and such like some people of my age. Anyways, I do laugh out loud especially if I'm with perky people (;)esp cute perky girls (what type are they BTW?)) but there's always a part of me that observes their reaction and collect their life's data (people seem to like you more if you remember something bout them)

Hi, welcome.

I'm not sure but I find the idea to be plausible. We are observers, after all. I spend a great deal of my time considering social interactions and society, trying to figure out how it works (due to having very little social intuition). It can be interesting trying to figure out why people do things and how they work. Being involved in their actions is not much fun though.

I also love to get people to talk about interesting areas of their lives. I'm a good listener. They can often have intriguing insights if you get the right people to talk in the right way; get them to really think.

there's always a part of me that observes their reaction and collect their life's data (people seem to like you more if you remember something about them)

Same for me. I'm always analysing people as the encounter progresses and just in general. However, my social memory is horrendous.

~ thread moved ~

Hi pyropyro, welcome. Your thread seems to belong here. Though it could be taken as an interesting self-introduction to the forum, if you want to practice conducting one of those perplexing rituals that is a social entrance, you might like to start a specific thread in the introit.

Hi pyropyro welcome, im new here too :)
Interacting with people is a very very interesting process. I usually try to join in conversations when im with people i feel comfortable around. Im realizing that if i tell myself im going to have a smooth conversation before i start talking it helps me to act more intuitively. I like to try and figure out how other peoples brains work, ( as I became mildly obsessed with the whole MBIT process after taking the test.) deciding if theyre introverted, extroverted, judging, percieving, etc ..

I do tend to end up distancing myself from the whole conversation and percieving it from the 3rd person for a few minutes after talking for longer periods of time, i guess kind of analyzing the information i learn while talking to them and pondering my own response.
