I didn't realise how often I read this forum until it went down.

What has everyone been up to lately?

I've been warming up for A Memory of Light with this excellent Mount & Blade: Warband mod http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=147665.0

and

Trying to push myself to finally finish Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid even though it started to go a wee bit over my head a few hundred pages ago.

Reading The Hobbit, playing GTA: SA and considering re-buying Watchmen (graphic novel) after I had to get rid of a lot of things so I'd have more space in my room.

I got banned at the INTP central for being "boring" I made a post there and asked if anyone knew anything and they were saying irrelevant stuff and trying to be funny while I was trying to get an answer, so naturally I did not respond with humor.

But yeah, I got banned, after like 12 posts. They seemed tremendously boring if you ask me, so I do not see how they could ban me for being boring.

Heh, I actually read that thread of yours while googling for why I got the suspended message here on INTPf. Seemed a bit unreasonable to ban you in my opinion since you did nothing but reply in kind to the people who posted.

I trawled the interwebz for signs of life. I heard MySpace had been sold. I went to visit their forum. I posted a 4000 word essay.
Someone replied "I like cheese"
*sigh*

Story of my life.

While the site was down I spent my time sleeping and eating. Played Tetris on facebook for a while. Played some Call of Duty and Elder Scrolls. Engaged in sports and such. Then after my hundredth time checking I realized that the site was back and all progress I made towards having a life disappeared.

I started playing more video games. I think I like this obsession a bit better as it's slightly more social.

Yeah same here, I don't really think the banning was justified. Specially the guy called "works" or something like that, I forget his name. His first reply to the thread was "Let's just ban it an be other with it" Lol. It's not that he "hurt" me, it just rich.

I now understand why most people on this forum, who are from INTPc dislike the place.

@Lobstrich - To be fair, you may want to think about growing a bit of a sense of humor, it may come in handy sometime.

I know they were joking, but I was looking for serious answers, not smug internet warriors.
Besides, I already have a sense of humor. It just doesn't agree with their sense of humor. So they might as well need to grow a sense of humor.
And I really have no idea who "Dr. Haigt" is supposed to be, I even googled, without luck.

Oh, I didn't see the thread on INTPc, I was just giving general advice, based on some other posts of yours I saw.
There is more to a conversation then just exchanging facts.

It went:
Lobstrich - hi there fellow INTPs, so sorry to trouble you, does anyone know what's happening with the other INTP forum?
INTPc - be on your way filthy interloper! We're not interested your ilk or the failings of your pathetic little forum! Mwha ha ha! <banned>

I may have paraphrased this a little.

They do seem like aresholes, but the thing is your description of the event is quite amusing, while Lobstrich's was, much like a lot of his other posts... not so amusing.

I never really thought that banning him was nice, I just thought that life may be a bit kinder to him if he was to lighten up a bit.

from the thread; "one of the admins of INTPforum was like a supreme dictator here a long time ago. His username here was Claverhouse, I don't remember what it was over there but you'd probably know who I mean if I tell you he was a monarchist."
:D

What's wrong with Claverhouse? Tell me, are you hiding something from us?!?
The whole ending every post with "Claverhouse :phear:" makes more sense now if one looks at hir as an exiled dictator in hiding. Claverhouse, I'm calling you out, show us who you truly are!!

Yeah, I was wondering about that to. Like I answered over there I think he is very passive. I rarely see him posting yet he has like 3k posts, which doesn't add up in my head, lol.
Seems far from being a "dictator" but I cannot tell how we was on INTPc.

Yes, definately! I'm surprised that you're saying this to me as if I think otherwise. I think that I've said on several occasions that I think a conversation is the best way to learn. By challenging our own knowledge with that of the 'opposition' having a debate or just an ordinary discussion. We gather each others information, and create an even greater 'information' so to speak.

I just thought that life may be a bit kinder to him if he was to lighten up a bit.

But I'll say what I said again, humor is subjective. You cannot say that I'm not "lightened up" just because I don't laugh at what you laugh at. That's quite ignorant to be honest. I laugh at a lot of things, including things from this forum, and I do post humorous things, or at least things that I find funny. I will admit though that I am serious the majority of time.
I think the reason that I'm serious a lot of the time on this forum is because there's a lot of things that I see people do, which annoy me very very much (very is there twice for a reason, hehe) And I've taken myself in a lot of times replying 'coldly' (seriously) because I was feeling annoyed with said person, I do this in 'real life' as well. And I can't really change that, why would I have a "ah, we're having so much funny, eh buddy? This is so much fun" attitude when I'm annoyed with the person.
I don't know if this is making sense, I haven't slept for at least 24 hours now, so I'm a little tired, hehe.

Oh and, if you can remember any specific moments where you thought I had to "lighten up" I'd really appreciate you V/PM'ing me with it, it's always good with some perspective!

There is noone who knows who dr. Haight is. It could be any one of them. No kidding. I made the mistake of making fun of him/her when I was called up on the stand for witchcraft. That was a mistake...

Someone(possibly dr.Haight) told me that if it had been a European site, I wouldn't have been banned. Or the site more P if you like.

Also I was told that works is the type of posters dr. Haight likes, so it probably wasn't a good idea to talk back if you did.

And above all, you really shouldn't anger OMW. I don't think there is anyone who have banned more people there then she. In my 400 post long troll thread she defended me once against Hustler(also most likely dr. Haight, or his girlfriend) when he once again tried to ruin my reputation and she defended me, told him to call it off and that I wasn't so bad. But on another day she asked why beiber still wasn't banned. So perhaps you where just unlucky and met her on a bad day. There might not be more to it.

But if you had been funny, she would probably just have changed your user name to princess2000 or something. So I agree with Alisia, you probably where not funny.

Lol.

Technically though, wouldn't you see the text first, which is all business, and then see the face that makes you laugh? You know since the face is in the signature which is after the text! ;)

Technically I should, but my eyes are drawn to the picture first. Normal methods of reading can't contain me.

I think my main point was that as I was told there is a cultural difference, and perhaps both sides should make more of an effort to see it from the others pov? I dont know. I failed there as well, so you shouldn't listen to me on this.

The main thing that stuck out to me in the aftermath was that I was told 'this was Haights clubhouse, and there where rules, but they are arbitrary. Accept that or get out.' I think that was fair enough.

No, I suppose it was me that failed, I didn't see that's what you were trying to say, honestly how I read your post was that you were very biased towards them being better, and that hey had rightfully banned me, that I was the bad guy and not at all them. Maybe it's just the way I read it.

Oh and, who is "OMW"?

Really? Obs. I think they where way off banning you. Because I thought you asked a legitimate question. And then defended yourself by being logical, at least how I understand logic. But people are different, and that didnt work out for you. Or I don't understand logic. But perhaps it's more in the territorial aspect of things, where they perceived you barged into the bar and reacted instinctively on this.

To be clear, I have no idea why you where banned. My best guess is cultural differences. But I do think it's more of a private place. They where fine with me while I stepped on my toes. But when I started to rearrange the furniture there was complaints. I didn't think they noticed. But I was wrong. There are layers upon layers with sub dynamics. That place is nothing like this place, where I consider it more as wysiwyg. "At the end of the day Haight makes up the game as he goes along".

...Banning you might also be just to make you talk about it here....Oh, I suck at this stuff, should keep my mouth shut.

OMW is who banned you.

Sounds like a gladiator style death match over there.

You got to many thumbs down so to speak and the emperor had you gutted.

Whatever that place might have been in the past it seems to have become a haven of filth and mediocrity.

By what you tell me I feel even more that I was rightfully acting "serious" towards them. They seem like a bunch of stuck up assholes, that judgment is from my own, albeit brief experience and from what you're telling me.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm glad I chose INTPf when I first chose a forum, funny thing is that I only chose INTPf because I didn't like the bright colour layout of INTPc and then because I think that INTPcentral seems a little self-satisfied. It's probably just because I chose to read central as in "we're the best, we're in the middle of it all" instead of central as "you can meet other people" Lol.
