I was pondering, could there be a trend to what you wear to sleep in and your personality type? (Intent is completely platonic) I was discussing such a thing on ventrilo with 2 other INTJ's and one noted he wears his clothes usually, but cannot stand to have a blanket on. He's a 1w9 enneagram and sometimes 5w4(such a person shall go unnamed *wonders if he will look at this post*).

I personally can't bear to sleep with anything but the bare minimum of undergarments, usually boxers or nothing at all. But I am always cold and have 2 mink blankets and another wool one I sleep with all together. [I am an INTJ 5w4-4w5-1w9 RCOEI]

*Note that mink blankets are not necessarily made of minks. That is simply the style of a heavy thick blanket averaging in the 150/+ USD range.

i sleep with the clothes i wear, maybe unless i was really outside enough that i got dirt and stuff, then i change into maybe some baggy pants or something i never wear. ive tried pajamas but they are so loose and clingy on your legs and stuff. i like to wear baggy pants i still got if im going to do pajamas.

Not sure if you're serious. Maybe foreigners do weird stuff like that...

Anyways, I usually sleep completely naked.

foreigner is relative, and being that we don't have the slightest clue where you're from i think it's safe to assume that it's wrong to generalize a vast group of people with the intricacies of one individual.

back on topic: PJ's w/ wild-man sleeping positions + lots of blankets to kick around :)

In weekends/holidays I sleep from about 2/3am to 11am, and on workdays from about 11pm to 6:30am. I just sleep in my underpants, with one mink blanket covering me. It's an interesting idea though, personality types influencing sleeping trends.

I doubt types influence sleeping trends although I wonder if it affects dreaming?

Anyway I sleep with boxers on and during summer go shirtless. The less clothes I feel the easier it is to sleep. (If I had my own house I would sleep naked ;)) I have a set routine before I got to sleep (watching scrubs and having a bottle of water next to me). I normally get to sleep by around 1am. I have a hard time sleeping not because of anxiety or anything but I really need to commit myself to sleep. If anything is more interesting than sleep I will usually do it.

I sleep anywhere I can rest my head. Also, wake me up and you're dead.

EDIT: unintentional rhyme

I usually sleep in just boxer briefs, regardless of time of year. I get an average of 4 hours of sleep on weekdays and 12 hours when I have the day off. My sleep hygiene is pretty much awful and I have no idea how to change it.

^me too. I hate it, but need my intellectual fix in the evening to keep me sane, though I suppose I could try doing that in the mornings.

I usually wear underwear, Pajama pants, and a teeshirt. My room isn't heated well, (especially noticeable now that things are getting cold outside) and so sometimes I wear an over sized sweater and/or socks. I also have a knock off snuggie that I won for something, which I usually wear before bed.

The Gopher's solution inst as uncommon as society would lead you to believe RJ, I've met several people who do that.

I need to wear underwear to keep my package from being violently contorted in the night. Precious cargo and all. I mean, besides temperature, my only concern is penis-related comfort.

I wear pajamas. It's cold here. Also, sleeping with your clothes on isn't nearly as bad as not showering (where I work, I meet customers who do that regularly... they make the isles smell like a dog soaked in pee. it sucks.)

I agree 100%, only american's would think of others as "foreigners".

I sleep in what ever I was wearing after I changed out of my "in-public-clothes" usually the same clothes I wear when working on my car (anything that doesn't restrict movement), I could sleep on a concrete floor and not care, if only I had a concrete floor.

Plus what are you meanign when you say things like 1w9 and 5w4, please enlighten a foolish ENTP.

Actaully I will sleep in whatever clothes I have on, in any area, as long as it isn't flooded or really cold. I slept under my car once while waiting for someone to go to the store and get me a part since my car was out of commision. :D.

I wear whatever I've worn the rest of the day. I don't see the point in changing my clothes if all I'm going to do is sleep in them, and it's not like I get them dirty at all, considering I just sit around at home all day.

I will never, ever sleep naked. Spreading ass germs all over my sheets does not sound like an appealing idea to me.

I sleep with a shirt that I will wear the next day as well as shorts under jeans ect..

I can see the practical sense in this approach, but being someone who tends to move a lot in sleep, I'd be wearing a very wrinkled outfit the next day.

What do you mean? Bathing is a suitable solution to prevent any such bed-soiling. I don't want to insult your culture or anything, but maybe hygiene isn't a big part of your life.

Haha, I bathe, but I'm always a little paranoid of germs and just... yeah. Plus, sleeping naked just seems so vulnerable to me.

^ Well yes, you're right that it's vulnerable. Say what you want for the advantages of having nothing on, but if a robber were to enter your house, or an other emergency involving you or someone else were to befall you, you'd be in a pickle if you were nude. No one wants to confront a robber or deal with other people like that, esp. if you had to leave your house in a hurry for some reason. Then again, it might make the robber laugh and cause him to lose his train of thought, enabling you to quickly knock him* over the head!

*robbers are always men, apparently.

Clothing aside, beds tend to feel like traps for me. They're always hard to get out of.

Or if the house is on fire that would cause a scene. However beds are traps getting up is the catch.

Sleeping nekkid is icky.

how so? isn't that what our ancestors did? sleeping in clothes & under blankets seems unnatural. we should all huddle together in our nekkidness when we sleep ;D

But usually I sleep with my boyfriend, and then we both end up naked anyways.

Who is he?

I sleep in a yellow sleeping bag, usually with part of it inside the closet because I feel safer with walls around me, kind of like a dog in a crate, also how I like to take the corner table at a restaurant, usually because I feel like I'm playing Tony Montana in Scareface and my competitors are trying to kill me, but in reality, my competitors don't even know who I am, nor do I actually have any competitors because I'm typing from an insane asylum.

The man I see.

but wouldn't he do better if he suggested that you wear something kinky, allow you to ponder it over, then make it seem like it was your idea? Or is it because you allow yourself to be controlled in the bedroom, the one place where you let go!?!?!?

I sleep in a loose shirt/nightie and underwear :)

an INTP friend of mine sleeps naked. >__>

Mind you, it IS quite comfortable sleeping naked. Mm. Gets the warmth in all the right places... But yeah, awkward if something happens and you have to run out into the street, as my mother constantly reminds me.

If there was a way to sleep naked but instantly have clothes on when I wake up I would do it. Someone invent that.

get a submissive non-english speaking fillipino house maid, would be the cheapest option; girlfriends cost more money and might get mad if you tell them to dress you prior to waking, but post busting a nut

Do you guys seriously sleep with your clothes on??

Unfortunately, my 'room' here at my dad's place is the couch in the basement, right in front of the big-screen computer monitor. Since the comp is right here, and the washing machine is just around the corner from my 'bed', I am required to keep "decent" for the sake of our (now) 3 female housemates.

However, I'm a little confused by this word I keep seeing referenced on this thread. What is this "sleep" thing? lol

Seriously, though, I've now been up for about 60 of the last 78 hours, working on a personal project, and reading this forum. The remaining 18 hours have consisted of 2-3 hour catnaps, when I get tired enough to close my eyes. The horrible part of it is, I've only been getting tired if I stray too far away from the project. On a number of occasions this week, I've been practically passing out, get struck with an idea for the project, and be wide awake and full of energy again. Same goes for when I check the forum. 15 minutes ago, I was falling asleep sitting here on the floor, and now I'm full of energy and ready to go for as long as it might take.

Is this an INTP thing, or am I just crazy?

This made me lol. I slept in the buff in the past but seriously....people would just randomly show up and I'd have to scurry around to get dressed all quick. After a couple months of this I gave it up and wear comfy cotton pants and shirts for sleep.

I also second the feeling vulnerable thing.

Naww, I'd do that too if I didn't care about my health/was allowed to sleep at school.
You're not crazy, a lot of people do that, or at least the people I know. But it isn't too beneficial for your health I think.

Sleep at school??? God forbid. I've done that, I think, only twice. Even if I'm incredibly tired, I will keep myself up, not because I fear the punishment, but because I fear missing something important being taught.

As far as the health benefits, or lack thereof, I'm not so sure. I haven't been having any physical symptoms of sleep deprivation, other than some increased trouble focusing my eyes. I think the biggest health concern is more for mental health. The lack of sleep slows your reaction times and thought processes down a little, so driving, sky-diving, bungee jumping, or any other activity that requires fast reaction time is not advisable, but day-to-day life isn't a big deal. Especially when your thought processes are usually too fast to keep up with.

It's good to know I'm not the only one, and usually I'm pretty good for sleeping 6-7 hours a night, but this past week has been so hectic what with school and working on this project and everything else in my life, that I'm finding the hours I usually spend sleeping would be put to better use if I'm awake. I'm definitely starting to burn out though. I'm starting to feel the gears seize up, which can't possibly be a good thing.

I sometimes sleep in the chair I'm sitting in right now.

And no, my pants are NOT down around my ankles.

Otherwise I sleep in my boxers or maybe these long flannel pants I have when the heat's not working.....like now.

Lol. Great thread.

Bare minimum. Unders and spaghetti strap tank top always even if it's the middle of winter and freezing ass cold. I just pile on the blankets so my feet aren't ice cubes.. but they will be anyway, lol. I'm just special like that.

I sleep in the clothes that I was wearing on the same day. Usually a hoodie and track pants in the winter and in the summer a t-shirt and shorts, they have to be black in color. ;)
I wash my clothes as I go during the day.

My INTP father on the other hand sleeps naked, wearing socks out of all things. :slashnew:

Too bad togas are no longer in style. You could spring awake and wrap your sheets all about you then be ready for your day. Thats the solution...we must make togas overwhelmingly popular. We need to get Justin Timberlake, Rhianna, the Beiber, and I don't know...Bruce Willis to wear togas. We also need to campaign to bring back McHammer pants.
