All I know is my banana works with her orange, and that's the end of it.

I actually like oranges better, but my vote has been a vote for social kindness and protecting the downtrodden, whether human or fruity. (From cornucopia's heart, I stab at thee! For fruit's sake, I spit my last seed at thee!)

I also actually like oranges better, but I voted for bananas because I admire their pure phallic significance.

The only thing that a banana could possibly yield to is that grand bromeliad, the pineapple, which in turn is only trumped by the mango.

So I take it you've never had a custard apple?

It's a real thing, and it really tastes like custard too :D

Why the color "orange" is called "orange", but the color "yellow" or maybe "green" is not called "banana" ?

orange +1
banana -1

Bromeliad specifically refers to the arrangement of the leaves, e.g. in a circular pattern tight enough to collect rainwater. Not all bromeliads are epiphytes ;)

Now we're getting into regional fruits. My local custard apple is known as a pawpaw. By far the best, but not common enough for suitable comparison.

I also have a thing for durian :phear:

^This response and my lack of reading before typing it clearly shows fruit-induced ADHD...

orange +1

:elephant:

1. The orange hired a better brander/marketer.

2. The banana is stealthy and keen, like a tiger creeping through underbrush, and can more easily bring down its prey than the blundering, glaring, "HERE I AM MR ORANGE, LOOK AT ME AND HOW ORANGEY I AM!!!" orange.

In any case, it's not fair to penalize the banana for this.

Probably because not many objects have a natural shade of orange, unlike the others. The only thing I can think of is the sunset and goldfish.

We had a whole plate of rambutans recently. Yummy but a pain to peel. Custard apples (we call them cherimoyas) are very good but the seeds drive me crazy.

I think I'll have to vote for loquats.

Nothing rhymes with orange but snapple rhymes with apple which makes apples better.

You should visit Indonesia.
There are so many kinds of fruits in tropical country.
Rambutan, durian, duku, and many more that you can't meet in USA. :D

You'll find both in California - land of fruits and nuts. :D

You know they originally planned to call their company Snorange, don't you?

That's nearly as bad as this number. Wrong place, wrong time. ;)

Actually, the Oxford English Dictionary v2 agrees with me: "Some of the Bromeliads grow attached to the branches of trees, and are called Air-plants."

I just realized what rambutans are (the local asian store has very little labeled in English). I think they suck. They taste like the wild fox grapes that grow in the backyard for free.

Bananas, no contest. I have a machine that turns frozen bananas into an ice cream constancy, it is godly.
