So, a few years ago right, Pod'Lair approached me and asked me to join their cult.

I said ok.

Then I approached Pod'Lair and asked them to join my cult.

I forget what they said, I think it was a yes? Idk who cares

Ahahahahahahahhaaaahahha xD

Pod'Lair said that Carl Jung had it wrong that the biggest difference between types was Introversion and Extroversion. They said the biggest difference between types is Perception and Judgment. According to them I am INFJ. It is popular to say that INFJ and INTP are the best match. That may be why I keep coming back here. I'm not stoic enough to be INTP (?) but the people here who are the most stoic seem to be the ones who best understand what I say and not overreact.

Are you suggesting that i went back and edited my relaxed and casual comment - specifically removing the word "bae"? Well in case you are, i'd like to state that i'd never do such a thing. Anyway i don't know what you're talking about and i don't care.

How am i coming along? Are you having a boner yet (or what it's called for girls, when it's nice in the pants because you love someone, i'm sure you know what i mean)?

Your real cat avatar keeps making me confuse you with Proxy.
Proxy is only a proxy for our agenda.
There is a reason so many of us use the cat symbol.
Cats see in the dark, we are the only defence against the owls.
INTPf is infested with them, don't you remember Dr Gregory House?
Pod'Lair was faze one of the owls nefarious schemes.
And now just as we have predicted splinter cults are arising.
I was one of the first to infiltrate such a cult, the poo cult.
Hopefully I was able to diffuse it before it was too late.
Me and proxy have much work to do. Time is running out.

Yes! Nailed it.

I need help, and this ridiculous thread will hopefully provide it. I want to understand the basic tenants of pod'lair. The problem is, I can't make heads or tails of their own explanation of themselves, and I'm not quite to the point of wanting to join the "community" to find out.

I know the cult ran through here a few years ago, and so I was hoping someone here could explain the whole system with as little enthusiasm (for or against) as possible. Or show me how or where I would acquire said explanation elsewhere.

Thank you.

I'm not in complete disagreement with Architect, but I'll give it a shot.

Pod'lair's theory:
It's basically Jungian theory in much greater depth, and with much more elaboration on every implication of each component of the theory, such as:
How each function presents itself in different types
How each function interacts with other functions
How a dominant function differs in presentation to the same function in auxiliary position (or tertiary or inferior)
Thriving and disintegrating vectors - what feeds each function, what to do when a specific type is struggling, what tends to cause each type to fall
Community/type interaction - what kind of "energy"/behaviour is produced when various type groupings get together. Ne doms will have a certain type of energy (regardless of auxiliary function) and have certain effects on each other. Ne doms and Ni doms will have a different type of energy and produce different effects on each other. etc.
And more.

One of the most important groupings is the 'inspirational' one - this is where another person has the same order of functions but with the opposite attitude. For an INTP this would be an ENTJ (TNSF, but instead of TiNeSiFe they have TeNiSeFi). The idea is that this type 'completes' your psyche's story by being the embodiment of your unconscious functions and the two of you help each other grow or call forth your greatest gifts.

Visual reading:
Pod'lair also comes along with a claimed ability to be able to read people visually, through cues which each type can't help but give off. The idea is that even if trying to act against their type, this will also be obvious as they will appear more drained and won't be able to keep up the performance for long.
At the lowest levels of reading you focus on cues. At higher levels you focus on the overall vibe of the person. At the highest level you read people by reading how they affect you, because all people affect each other.

An example of a basic cue is the distinction between high F types and low F types. http://www.intpforum.com/showthread.php?t=5950

You can read more of Adymus's threads for more info on pod'lair. He was a core Pod'lair member - one of the founders iirc.

Podlair terminology:
It's renamed all its functions but they're pretty much Jungian functions slightly phonetically misspelt. (Eg "Ne" is called "Nyy", "Ni" is "Nai", etc.) For reference:
Ne = Nyy
Ni = Nai
Se = Vyy
Si = Vai
Te = Zyy
Ti = Zai
Fe = Xyy
Fi = Xai

Types are called "Mojos" and are named according to the top two functions, much like Jungian MBTI. So an INTP would be a Zai'nyy (TiNe).

Each type also has a specific "hero's journey" where they are developed to their fullest along specific lines - basically following the order of functions and what each function is geared towards. So a Zai'nyy (INTP) reaches its greatest potential when it finally learns how to communicate all the great stuff its mind has produced to the masses (Ti ---> Fe). That's a bit of an oversimplification but should communicate the gist.

Pod'lair's reputation:
Despite having a lot of solid information and theories that people were receptive to in the beginning (which you'll see in Adymus's threads before he became somewhat hostile), they eventually gained a reputation as a cult. This is because Pod'lair is extremely dogmatic. You're not allowed to question the core theory or the founder (whom they call "Coach", and who has the final word on everything), you have to take a submissive role in relationship to him, and you cannot argue your way out of any of this. Any argument you make against this sort of setup is met with the conclusion that you must be 'stupid' or have a terrible attitude which refuses the 'truth'. It's basically a completely closed system. Several members have come out claiming emotional and mental abuse, and we know of one core member (not the one Archie mentioned) who committed suicide as a result (granted, they had mental problems beforehand).

They also have very grand ambitions and believe their system will completely revolutionise the world, and they will be at the forefront of this. They believe being able to read people and understand their 'mojo' in the depth they do is the key to ushering in a world where everyone lives up to their highest potential. Not world peace exactly, but on that level of idealism.

They have taken a markedly hostile stance to all other systems of belief, including religion. They believe everyone else is wrong because no one truly understands humanity on the level they do. They've put out a lot of material "debunking" other systems, and calling out individual members of typology groups for being "stupid".

This treatment has also been levelled at them. I don't know which came first.

They've also claimed the hostility is intentional to weed out people who aren't curious or committed enough to learning the truth and accepting guidance. This is a red flag for abuse/preying on people with abusive backgrounds.

My thoughts:
There's a lot of good within the theory imo. They've greatly clarified my own understanding of things. However as a social group I'd consider them somewhat dangerous. Most people I know prefer to take what free information they offer and apply/test it themselves. However, this is at odds with their methodology, and they claim you won't ever get the levels of accuracy they do without being trained by them (a fairly reasonable claim).

If you're interested in their material, you just have to listen past the insults, psychedelic colours on their videos and strange terminology. There isn't a whole lot of work involved in learning the terminology.

A few other people (eg Auburn) have taken some of the information from Pod'lair and tried exploring it on their own. There's some overlap in theory but also some differences as they've discovered things opposed to Pod'lair's theory.

In summary:
Pod'lair is greatly-extrapolated Jungian function theory, influenced somewhat by MBTI, with a few new insights and theories but largely derivative terminology. However, it claims to be entirely new and unlike anything which has come before, which leads to confusion about what its actual theories are. Socially it's set up as a cult.

Hope this helps. Ask more questions if you want.

(The member Architect's thinking of is Lyra/XIII, I think.)

Should also have a spoiler on Pod'lair's philosophy, since it's integral to them and distinguishes them from other systems.

Philosophy:
They see each type as having an energy signature ('energy' roughly meaning what motivates them, what drives them, what they tend to produce, what gets them going and what slows them down, how they interact with others, etc).
Humans should be able to read each other's energy since it's natural, like reading emotions. However, social and cultural conditioning (behavioural memes) get in the way of that. As a result, people end up in jobs/relationships/lifestyles that drain them because they buy into all the "stupid" BS that others tell them. This mismatch of energy is what causes all the problems in the world.
Podlair claims to be able to read through all these memes (culture, language, social roles, personal expression/identity, etc) since energy can't truly be masked. At least one of its purported aims is to spread this knowledge of how to actually read others and yourself so you gain the tools to make smart choices and produce the best energy you can, in concert with others.

Visual reading is thus an integral part of their belief system - regaining something natural and inherently human - which a lot of people take issue with. Pod'lair claims you can't judge the system if you're not an expert on it, since you won't know what you're talking about. Most people on the outside struggle with the idea of being able to read a person's entire cognitive setup just by watching them. Pod'lair claims it takes many many hours of practice.

There's a lot more to their philosophy and set-up - they also place their members in various roles suited to them to teach, tear down others, proselytise etc. There's probably more I don't know or have forgotten but I'm in a rush right now. Unable to safely edit previous post so added this.

Hehe, is it free to join? Is there a UK chapter?

Nvm, I'm on their website.

As if the word "Mojo" is actually in their terminology.

Mojo Confirmations - Get Your Mojo Read!

Right now Pod'Lair is in it's Proof of Concept phase, and for a limited time reads will be FREE with 95%+ Accuracy from our expert Mojo Reading Team.
To have your Mojo read, send in a video (guidelines below) to Pod_Lair@yahoo.com, and our team will send you your Mojo Confirmation (must have a valid email address). Turnaround times vary, but will usually be within a week.

Video Submission Guidelines

* Film yourself talking about something.

* You can use a camcorder, web cam, or digital camera in video mode, provided they result in a GOOD QUALITY video.

* Good Quality = good lighting, good resolution, speaking loudly and clearly, and close-up on your head and shoulders. Please send a CURRENT video, newly and specifically made for your Pod'Lair submission.

* 10 minutes is adequate but more video is ideal (this is a good compromise between sufficient video for Readers to read you while still being convenient).

* Upload your video to YouTube, either as public or unlisted, and send us the link to Pod_Lair@yahoo.com. Our team will review your media (due to high volume of requests, there may be delays) and email you with a read of your Mojo within 1-2 weeks.

The Mojo Reading Process

Before you submit your video to have your Mojo read, there are some things you need to keep in mind about the Mojo Reading process:

1) Limited Attention: The level of skill required to do this is very high and should not be taken lightly. Respect must be given to the process so that the best read can be given. This is for this reason a high value gift and one that takes time so that the focus of a person who has this skill set is limited, like a doctor or detective who has a large person-based case load. Each new case takes precious attention.

2) Limited Energy: Besides the attention of a superbly skilled specialist, the reading of a person is fatiguing, like an artist poring over a painting or a surgeon keeping every hand motion under control during an operation. It is fatiguing, so only so many cases can be worked and if a person is not fresh they should wait until they are rejuvenated and have the correct amount of energy for such a feat. Not only is the level of technique preciously finite, so is the mental and artistic energy required to fuel such a process.

3) Limited Mojo Readers: Besides the fact that each Mojo Reader can only focus on so many cases (and research relevant to those cases) and that doing the Mojo Read itself takes a huge amount of energy, there is also the fact that there are only four Mojo Readers currently trained so there is an added value due to scarcity. Each of these four can only have enough overall (complete workload) focus on a limited number of cases at any one time, and each of these four can only do a limited amount of quality reading in any given day so even on cases we ARE working we have to space out the reads over the week. Taking on another case is a big favor.

4) Toxicity Issue: Reading a person has a lot in common with doing psych profiles. All humans will benefit from being read, but the process of reading a person is made more difficult, and dangerous, by toxicity levels of the subjects being read. It is very important that the few qualified readers not waste their time with people who won't contribute to the Pod'Lair cause and community and just want to get reads for themselves and don't want to give back. We have had lots of experience with this and it has consistently been those with the most toxic energy and least desire to chip in for their fellow humans that are often the most insistent of having this valuable service given to them without regard to how they can help their fellow humans in return or how toxic their energy is. This makes for an arduous experience for the beleaguered Pod'Lair team. Short version: when you read you merge with the mind of the subject to some degree, so we need to know first if we want to do that with the person.

5) Responsibility: What Pod'Lair can teach a person about themselves and accessing their innate powers is awesome but it needs to be put in the right hands. Everyone will know about Pod'Lair eventually once it goes majorly public but we ourselves only want to teach those who are going to use this knowledge heroically. You don't want to teach a physical bully how to fight better so you don't want to teach any kind of physical or metaphysical vampire or villain how to be more powerful than they already are. They must truly be accepting of the principles we value here.

Quality Reading

At this point already, Pod'Lair methodology outperforms any cognitive function evaluation product on the market and we are working to build a counsel of 16 full-time Professional Mojo Readers at 100% accuracy as a minimum for an official read. Our standards are very high.

Enjoy Pod'Lair Planet knowing what your Mojo is!

Why it's easy, it's basically MBTI except it relies more heavily on visual cues and the such in accordance with functions. Some say there wasn't really a need to branch off and it could have just integrated with it but instead they tried to do their own thing.

They had some YouTube videos up which do a good job of explaining it so there are always those to check out but I wouldn't rely on only them to get a complete understanding. Good starting point too, you should also check out some of the leftover threads they have here.

Excellent writeup I agree with. There's potentially a lot of value in PL that is lost because of the messianic approach of the founder. It would be great if somebody independent like Auburn was able to incorporate it as an extension into MBTI. My take was this was the approach they should have taken, if they had wanted it to be successful.

(The member Architect's thinking of is Lyra/XIII, I think.)
Yes it was Lyra, thanks.

Thank you, guys. I was trying to sift through their forum and explanations. Cheese, you've given me a bit of a Rosetta stone with the term mappings.

My next question: they seem to separate genders in some of their stuff. Is this for reading purposes (accounting for different pitches and facial muscles), or do they think personality traits present differently in different genders?
