Which of these two images do you prefer?

First one:

Second one:

I've been asking my friends, and I keep getting a particular result. If this is still the case here, it would be interesting to work out why.

The first one. I always did like walking that way better on vacation...there were no people in that direction. I might be a little biased.

Second one for me. It is an interesting experiment to search for patterns in people's choice.

The second one, I guess.

I kinda wanna answer the "What impact do allergies have on how you age?" at the bottom of each picture... but I'll refrain from derailing your thread.

First one. For some reason I associate the first picture with going away (or leaving) and the second picture with returning.

I picked the second one, but I have no idea why, and I'm not entirely convinced I even preferred it very much. Seemed like a random decision to me. *shrug*

I wonder if there are subliminally recognized clues in the pictures that make it feel like one hemisphere or the other? Something feels funky about the second image to me, and it may not necessarily be a left brain/right brain thing. Obviously one of the images was flipped... and I wonder if it is somehow registering. Or, like I just suggested, a hemisphere or locality based preference.

The second image was the original, and four people I personally asked preferred that one as well. Except, when I asked, the original was presented as the first image, and the flipped one as the second. I prefer the original, but it might be because I took the shot and the flipped version just doesn't look right to me.

I picked the first one -- possible explanation: I looked at it first so then the second one seemed 'wrong'?

the first one reminds me of the pacific ocean...i've never ever been on the east coast so i prefer the first one...it just seems right to me

guess it kind of depends if you're looking north or south too. But i always picture my ocean on the left

I'm thinking the same thing. I picked the first but I also think it was because I saw that image first so the other seemed off.

Go left handed people:o:p:rolleyes: But actually....

But I guess it does have to do more of what people have seen, something similar to it.... I've seen a coast not so different as it is on the picture narrowing on the way as it is portrayed on the first one, therefore I can familiarise with it a bit more.

I would've thought that the second image would be preferred since each of us writes and reads from left to right... as the trail of shells and rocks would be heading from left to right.

That's true, but I still find that the first image simply looks 'wrong'.
