I'm claiming it's ESFJ. You all agree? Perhaps different societies have other personalities as the norm?

Are we talking U.S.? ESTJ, but will become ESTP coinciding with the most recent generational shift.

How does one decide the personality type of a society? Not dismissing it just curious about what the criteria is.

I went largely with prevalence and perceived value of socio-economic institutional structures.

ISTJ Japan (variation)
?
U.S. & Britain - these have a history of lots of interactions with other countries. Hence E.
Germany, France, Japan - these look inward to their well-defined cultures. Hence I.
France - It has a generalized principled attitude. Hence N.
U.S. - It pronounces itself as impartial. Hence P.
Don't know about the T and F.

Hitler was, believe it or not, probably an NF of some type - INFJ or INFP. Nazi Germany took the strongest aspects of the German culture - following rules and exactitude, and put them on psychotic steroids plus nationalism.

Maybe turned a ISTJ into an ESTJ culture with psychosis, doesn't seem to fit but thats as good as I can do.

Sweden, Iran, Jamaica, Netherlands, New Zealand, United States, Germany, Portugal, Japan, and France? I could go on. :phear:
You sure the Swedes and New Zealand belong on there?

Japan too, for that matter.

I'm sure about very few things. :cat:

Japan's culture, from what I gather, appears deferential, which might suggest introversion.

I'm not about to make the N/S and P/J calls on Sweden and New Zealand though. Anyway, merely conceding one of the countries I originally listed (e.g., Jamaica) refutes BAP's point. :D

IIRC, Susan Cain said the U.S. used to be way more introverted. I wonder if that's not still really true, and external circumstances have forced us to run on a kind of manic extraversion for the past 100 years or so, to the point where we no longer know who we really are.

I know, that's some ponderous shit, dude.

Today?

Today, people are encouraged to see their work as their family, but be isolated when at home, with everyone interacting with their computers and iPhones, but not even speaking or spending time with the people right next to them. That is a characteristic I normally see in Introverts.

Nowadays, people are encouraged to accept sense-evidence-based science as gospel, and to doubt those who have views that are based on intuitive ideas that cannot be described and tested very easily in materialistic ways. So we are being encouraged to be Sensors.

These days, people are always judging each other, and if you don't judge people first, they judge you. Accordingly, we are encouraged to be Js.

Also, people seem to stick to judging people based on rational arguments (T), but according to whether or not those people's actions benefit the speaker's personal values and personal goals (Fi).

That spells ISTJ to me.
