Not making your bed is actually good

I don't think the members of this forum make their beds so here's a good excuse if you live with someone:

Research suggests that while an unmade bed may look scruffy it is also unappealing to house dust mites thought to cause asthma and other allergies.

A Kingston University study discovered the bugs cannot survive in the warm, dry conditions found in an unmade bed.

It's an old article, and as most of the "health news" on the internet today it's mostly sensationalism.

I make my bed regularly. Unmade beds gross me out. I don't want dust collecting on my bedsheets or someone sitting on them. Besides it just looks better when it's made.

Not making your bed is gross, your body perspires during the night and the skin has a small amount of natural oil in it (helps to make us waterproof) which means if you make your bed in the morning you're creating a warm, dark, slightly damp environment for bacteria and fungi to grow.

Sunlight and fresh air evaporate moisture and kill the fungi/bacteria.
Of course I sleep during the day, but I'm not human so it's okay :D

So not making your bed is gross because if you do make your bed, then you'll have bacteria and fungi growing in it? that sounds kinda backwards.

Ah yes, forgot. lol
Carry on~

This confuses me.....

I don't see how 'making' a bed is preventative of dust or of illicit sitting (try thumbtacks maybe). Surely you could just wash the sheets and blanket?

Imo the best thing about making a bed, is unmaking it.

I do occasionally tear the entire set up apart....
I've read too many internet materials about bedbugs.
Fortunately I've never found any.

After reading this, somehow I was drawn to make a correlation between your avatar.

Why?

It's a rather useless routine that demands some work to be done in the morning. And this is the INTP forum.

@Fukyo

I guess cleaning your sheets on a regular basis does the job, and if the study is valid you'd be avoiding dust accumulation and enhancing dust mites accumulation.

Anyway, this wasn't intended to be a serious discussion.

They look alike, so I conclude that they are the same. Besides, I've never heard of the word "spidaires," so it's a good reason to doubt your credibility and enhance my argument. :borg:

you had an argument?

None of the facts on this thread are enough to change my mind about making up my bed everyday. I just really don't feel like doing it to be honest, especially when I'm preoccupied doing something else like reading.

Why do you even need to "excuse" yourself? That "someone" is simply pushing his/her values onto someone else. It is "them" who need to change their "beds", not reality, and especially not yourself.

I've never had an (ideal) relationship where that happened.
