I've been lurking here for a while, and figured it was time to jump in, since registration is open again. I also visit over at INTPc, but it seems more interesting to follow along than actually participate there.

Basically, another (somewhat) young INTP finding likeminded people. After all, just yesterday, my mother (ESFJ if I know almost anything) was complaining about my living habits, love of argument, cynicism, criticism and not having any friends (nearby, at least).

Somehow your introit slipped through unnoticed yesterday. We're often rude but not to the point where we ignore anyone. Welcome to the forum. Here's hoping you find this place as interesting as I do. Participate!

We only get more and more rude the longer we've been around. Interesting that.

Wow, such a warm welcome. Thank you all.

Hi RandomAspects - welcome to the forum. What are you interested in?

Mmm, it depends. Generally math, foreign languages, or an interesting TV or book series. Right now, my interests include the Age of Sail, Doctor Who, and the Aubrey/Maturin book series. I'm also looking at teaching myself another language when school starts back up.

The Aubrey/Maturin books series is great. I love how O'Brian manages to make focus on both characters so equally even when they are apart from one another. My mother and I debate who is cooler... I agrue Maturin, she, Aubrey.

I'm new myself, but welcome!

My avatar's a picture I found on deviantART. (I also draw a lot.) And yes, I'm in high school. Starting 10th grade Tuesday.

The characterisation is one of my favorite parts of the novels as well. That and O'Brian's outrageous ideas that work perfectly. Nice to see there are other fans as well!

RandomAspects: As a college grad, my suggestion to you is: Take as many AP science & math courses that you can! With my AP Physics, Chem, Biology and Calc2 I was able to get more than a semester of college credit, but more importantly the AP classes served as a rock-solid foundation for a lot of later classes.

If I hadn't done so poorly in AP Physics I would not have had so much trouble in the college course "chemical thermodynamics". Fucking heat engines...
However I totally rocked AP Chem, and I was able to breeze through 3-4 other chemistry courses with that foundation.

I'm already signed up for 2 APs (AP European History and Art History), but the stupid administrartion here won't let anyone take APs before taking the basic class, even if they could handle the work.

As a result of that, I'm stuck with the peppy, flaky cheerleader coach as my Chemisry teacher.

Speaking of puns, did you hear the one about the prosthetics technici---

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Hopefully she doesn't live up to that first impression though, otherwise I'll be teaching myself out of the textbook.

You know, that's a good skill to learn anyway.

(I don't know how much biology you've taken but...)
What is a pirate's favorite amino acid?
Arrrrrrrginine!

haha! I think I'll have to bug someone with that one.

So what DID the prosthetics technician say to the visitor in his lab ?

'Watch out, I'm armed!'

Ha! Hey now, be nice. I was once a peppy, [I'd like to think only seemingly] flaky chemistry teacher. :( We are a very sensitive bunch.

Uhhmmm . . . .I'm sorry? Not trying to pass judgement at all. You seem very interesting by your posts. My new teacher seems like she's not very concerned with making us competent, that's all. (Probably should expect that, though.)

Hehe, wellll if RandomAspect's teacher does turn out to be crappy then I think we have a variety of chemistry mentors around. Yellow was a chemistry teacher. My degree is in biochemistry. Decaf does some kind of inorganic or physical chemistry.

*hangs head* so . . . generous. :o If something stumps me for days, and the book doesn't explain sufficiently, maybe I'll ask.

Makes me wish my INTJ friend didn't switch schools. he just showed me how he did a certain problem in math, and I would get it. I'd help him back.

Too bad she's not the anatomy teacher (HAYO!). Weird that a cheerleading coach doesn't seem interested in making people competent learners. (ZING!) Demand more of her. Be aggressive. B-E-aggressive. (... uhm... BOIOIOIOIOIOIOING?)

Welcome.

Welcome!
*GLOMP* you are interested in foreign languages? It is my personal goal to learn every language from Klingon to Japanese to German to Russian... there are a lot of languages. *le sigh* I am currently taking Russian. I took 3 years of Japanese in high school and 1 year of Spanish.

Glad you are here.

wow I'm feeling all weird and social.

Ehehehe, I haven't checked this intro thread in a long time. Sorry 'bout that.

*eep!*

Oh, I've taught myself a bit of Klingon online a while ago (I don't really remember, but I did try!). Oh, I know. I'm in French 4 and I've taken a year of Spanish as well. My parents also speak Romanian frequently at home. I can understand them and read it (a bit) too, but I can't speak it or write it.

Stop! You're making my brain hurt attempting to fit "flaky" and "preppy" into my view of you. *shudder*

Mmmm . . . . . I pretty much read anything I can get my hands on. Right now I have an account of how Christianity affected Nigerian tribes when it was introduced, a fictional book that attempts to make a point on the pro-life/pro-choice issue, an Algebra textbook, and an Age of Sail novel in my backpack. Other textbooks are on the shelves in my room.

:smiley_emoticons_mrIt's a pretty awesome smilie, I must admit.
