Hello all, I figured that as a new member it would be a good idea to post an introduction thread. I'll be borrowing a format from near the end of the "About You?" thread, as I think it's a good one. Feel free to ask any other questions.

My name is Christian. I'm not a Christian though, I'm an atheist.

How did you find out that you were INTP, or other type?

I came across MBTI in psychology class, in which we took a formal MBTI assessment towards the end of the school year. I was originally undecided about my INTP result, as I also strongly identified with many aspects of the INTJ, but after more thought and research I decided that INTP fit best in an overall sense.

How did you find out about this forum?

Do you have a partner/lover?

No.

Do you have any kids?

Do you have any pets?

My family has a cat, though I'm more of a dog person.

Which hobbies absorb you the most?

I wouldn't say any one hobby is my favorite, but there are a few that I would count among my favorites, which include computers, mountain biking, philosophy, music (listening, writing, and playing), and photography. I also greatly enjoy my time in school, for the most part. Lastly, I'm a furry, if my avatar didn't make that obvious.

How do you generate an income?

I'm still a high school student, so I don't have an "income" per se, but I make money by doing freelance computer work for small businesses and individuals, mostly networking, data recovery, and security testing, as well as pet care and dog training.

Hardest thing about being INTP?

I wouldn't say that being an INTP has caused me that much difficulty outside of finding most people uninteresting. I did go through an epistemological crisis recently, which I suppose might be the fault of how I think.

When and why did you become an atheist?

I think a re-wording of your question might give a good sense of my perspective; why didn't I ever become a theist? I never found that the notion of god(s) as espoused by most people lent themselves much credibility, especially after getting into philosophy. I attended Catholic functions up until I was 12, but not of my own volition.

Of course, my lack of belief in god(s) is not a claim of knowledge of the non-existence of god(s), I just think that given a combination of scientific advances and reasoning that I'm far more justified in not believing in such a god(s) than I would be in believing in one. However, the popular notions of god(s) aside, I think certain pantheistic conceptions of "god" or something along those lines do lend themselves credibility, though we lack sufficient information. That lack of information means I have very little justification for believing in those ideas of "god", but I also have very little justification for not believing in such a "god." So I'm an agnostic atheist.

A large part of why I'm currently a "soft-atheist" as such is that I haven't finished building an epistemology yet. Though I do think that the conceptualizations of god that organized religion centers around lend themselves little credibility, and I don't think that organized religion has overall positive effects. Any god(s) that I could see as existing wouldn't really affect my life in any meaningful way, so I live the life of an atheist regardless.

Let me express my envy. I was only offered one year of psychology class, and the thing closest to the MBTI we talked about was Eysenck's personality model.

I was originally undecided about my INTP result, as I also strongly identified with many aspects of the INTJ, but after more thought and research I decided that INTP fit best in an overall sense.

Me, too. Also, relatively many of the J/P questions seem quite ambiguous to me. It would probably be better to learn the theory before (or instead of) taking the test, at least for NTs.

I'd be glad if you did elaborate on these.

your pantheism - and related reservations on technological or human limitations - mirrors my own worldview. do you feel the answers lie with a reconciliation of quantum mechanics, general relativity, string theory, m-theory, etc. or something akin to subjective revelation? something else entirely? explain. or if you choose not to, we could both enjoy some crisp coffee and leave the matter for another day.
