Hello everyone,

I am new

I've spent many souls of cranial bleeding alone in this society
A revelation was predicted by my fearful exoskeleton
as non-existent houses of eyes shower me with laughter

observing the grip of society's tentacles loosening
pages of concrete rules lose its meaning
fragments of truth arise through noise

transformation of my skin peels
as the tapeworms abandoned sight
releasing the gallowing smirks
no longer ensnared

I questioned the stream of souls
"Obtaining freedom with awareness is possible?"
Goliath appeared with knowledge
"Illusions break their form in questions."

I found the fault of understanding
and the convivial of segregation
as being alone has shown me true love
of the existence of all things

::
I hope to have enjoyable conversations with you all sometime. I have locked myself away from the real world for a long time in arrogance; I wish to embrace what exists around me and remember the feeling of belonging. I feel I will find a sense of loving through insightful people who share the same commonality.

Thank you and greetings.

I hate to be rude, but... I found your little free verse exposé a little boring. By "a little boring" I mean "completely devoid of interest". Too many words. It doesn't flow well and repels my mind. It does not want to be read, kind of.

But, hello. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

I agree with chili maggot but I'll grant that it's better if read in a death metal voice.

Welcome!

What part of Virginia are you from?

Thanks guys.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I respect that. I was just expressing myself really just for myself, I'm sure I would find it rather boring and too cryptic if I had not written it myself.

@Moocow, From Virginia Beach.

@Awaken, Yes I enjoy Tool, but I respect them more than I like their music if that makes sense. I am a Mars Volta follower.

@Awaken, Appreciate the moral support. Any band recommendations? I'm out of the loop.

@Cake, Yes progressive rock is great. I'm not really familiar with too much music though, I know some of my favorite bands were labeled as Progressive Rock, but I'm not too sure what the labels mean anymore on bands. Recommendations?

This is very foreign to me, I think I've talked about myself more than I have in my entire life in 3 posts //exaggeration.

Might be a good thread:

http://intpforum.com/showthread.php?t=1914&highlight=progressive
THere may be a more pertinent thread in the Music forums though. If not, you should start one. Im not too familiar with the genre myself, but I like Tool.

Another forum member Hadoblado introduced me to this song. I really like it:

@Awaken; Very enjoyable song, the lyrics are very interesting too. I'm not used to this kind of music so the last half of the song made me uncomfortable when it went metal haha. I posted a song on that forum you linked me to, I felt a little dumb when I realized the last post was from 17 days ago.

@Synthetix; Thanks and yes Alex Grey has amazing interpretations of souls in paintings. I particularly like the one set as my avatar as it symbolizes the passage of the soul in death, achieving true freedom.

Death is the ultimate freedom, if it is indeed how I view it.. No physical body to meet the demand of, freely gliding about thru the astral plain.

Pardon my ignorance, but who is Xenophanes?

@Synthetix; Xenophanes was known as a travelling poet and is known for some of his philosophical views on religion, as he is noted as the first Greek to bring question to the theology behind Greek religion.

One of his most famous quotes:
But mortals suppose that gods are born,
wear their own clothes and have a voice and body. (frag. 14)
Ethiopians say that their gods are snub-nosed and black;
Thracians that theirs are blue-eyed and red-haired. (frag. 16)
But if horses or oxen or lions had hands
or could draw with their hands and accomplish such works as men,
horses would draw the figures of the gods as similar to horses, and the oxen as similar to oxen,
and they would make the bodies
of the sort which each of them had. (frag. 15)

Interesting, I should look up some of his work. I may have heard of him before but I can't recall.

When did you begin to realize you may have been INTP?

@Synthetix; That's a great question..I guess when I became aware of the research; Which I believe was when I hit psychology class in college. It's very interesting how accurate it is from daily life to relationships and social aspect. How about you?

Well I took the MBTI and when my results said INTP, I did extremely thorough research on this personality type. And, reflecting on my life since the beginning, I find that every shred of information I find about our type is a shred that I can piece into certain experiences of mine. I was relieved, and continue to be, knowing that something isn't necessarily wrong with me, that it is just my personality.

@Synthetix; I know what you mean by feeling relieved. I always felt that I was alone in the way I thought and the amount of effort I put into having my own logical views in life. Like I was doing something wrong because I was not like everyone else who seem so carefree and social in public settings.

There were many times when I was ashamed of myself and tried to find logical reasons why this was happening to me. It's a very frightening world out there with all the social standards and pressures that come from all media outlets. Just knowing that research has concluded a type that fits me gives me great relief that I am a part of something socially even if I don't know anyone like me. I now understand that the "normal" I was seeking was just a fantasy created by society, when in fact I am already normal in the eyes of the MBTI test.

Normal is not a word meant for human beings. Well, each person is unique in their own way, but a certain number of people may be the majority when it comes to thinking and doing things certain ways. Culture has laid out social guidelines that people feel obligated to abide by. I wondered why doing tasks that the other kids viewed as mundane were such a challenge to me. Being independent minded and intuitive, we tend to have our own special way of handling things before us that seem to push the buttons of the authoritarian minded. When you are open to what the others can't see, or refuse to see, you are then the social outcast. In group settings it's agonizing to prove a point. One on one is much more peaceful, provided the listener has the humility to take into consideration what they are being told.

I feel the need to say that there was no need to call us jackasses. I was just saying, only just saying, and nothing more. You don't post poetry unless you want comments on it. I even felt a little bad about giving the critique. But these things need to be done.

"And honestly, I only did that because of the poem itself. It was just so, in your face, society's tendrils blah thousand syllables blah blah, I felt the need to say something. Besides, now his future stuff might be better."

This was pretty uncalled for. If you can't restrain yourself from making such comments well then you're narcissistic and maybe shouldn't post here.

Really? I would welcome such criticism. If I posted something that someone did not like, I would prefer they let me know, tell me why, and move on. Which I did. Maybe this isn't the place? Fine.

I will grant that using "blah" to describe anything is offensive. I'm sorry for that.

It was disrespectful and unwarranted. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that you reserve such criticism for when people ask you, or when you are posting in a Creative Writing thread, and not an Introduction thread.

Criticism doesn't necessarily point towards disrespect, but rather analysis, based on personal opinion of course. But I think it wasn't the best way to greet a new member... Anyway, lets offer the newcomer a few shots of vodka :)

Wow, what just happened?

@EyeSeeCold; Thank you for the warm welcome.

@Chili Maggot; I didn't take offense to anything you said. I do understand why it's boring to you and most likely many others, but assuming I will get "better" from your critique is asking me to change for you, which I am not willing to do as art is a very society based opinion which I prefer to not be influenced by.

To me this "poem" or whatever it's labeled as, is a symbolic meaning of my freedom from the grips of such criticism from society which constrained my life in my own mind. If I had used simple words and rhyme that standard "poems" used, the "poem" would lose its meaning and significance to me.

@Synthetix; I think it's time for that shot! Brain faculties need melting.

Maybe "better" was a bad word. If ever in the future you sought to make it connect to others more, or something, you would just have another reference to go on. *If* for some reason you wanted to make it more enjoyable by other people, just, less syllables all clumped together. There.

I still retain that posting any form of art invites the opinions of everyone who sees it. Like, my picture. I drew that myself. Feel free to tear it apart at any time you see me, whether we were previously discussing it or not. Unless you start saying stuff like "The overuse of yellow means you're a bad, stupid person" it can only help me. But maybe if a similar situation occurs, I will balance it out by saying "Tendrils sounds really cool, you have neat word choice." or something.

Now I'll go away and we can stop clogging up this guy's Intro thread. Unless one of you says something like "Good" or "About time" in which case I am sure I can find something else to say. :kilroy:

Welcome to the forum. I am sure the above posts will act as a direct representation of the people you will be working with here. Just try not to take offense to our comments, we can be a bit blunt at time. But hey, it is a change from brown nosing out in the social world. Out there, you have no idea if what is said is true or simply said to evoke an emotional response.
