Hey guys. Well, being unemployed and unable to get a job, I have resorted to downloading and watching a lot of movies.

So any suggestions of any good movies? I like thrillers, action, something makes you think, and psychological movies.

Are there any movies where the main character is an INTP? That would be cool to watch.

Oh and I don't want any bullshit about how wrong it is to download movies. I'm poor right now. So give me a break.

I really liked the movie, "Not One Less". Its about a rural school in China. The teacher's mother gets sick and he needs a substitute. The mayor finds a young girl, barely older the kids she is to teach, to be the substitute. The teacher has misgivings but agrees to it offering her a bonus if there is not one less student. The movie is basically her teaching and trying to keep all the kids in the school. It was funny, heart-warming, and just a great movie all around.

Maybe not your cup of tea but I thought I would mention it.

Sounds kinda like that movie...I think it was called gangster's paradise? Well I'm sure gangster's paradise was the name of the song that was in that movie. But it had michelle phifer in it and she is this teacher who goes to a bad school and turns the kids around.

But right now i'm dling The assassination of jesse james by the coward Robert Ford. I like brad pitt and this movie has a good rating on rotten tomatoes.

I guess it's technically a romance; but I thought Slumdog Millionaire was an exceptional movie. It's one of my favorite movies ever.

The Day The Earth Stood Still was odd.
W. was decent.
Vanilla Sky is one of my favorites.
A Beautiful Mind was exsquisite.
Basis Instinct 2 was worth watching once. (but I don't have the best taste in movies)
I'll definitly come back if I think of anymore.

Oldboy - action/thriller
Pi - psychological thriller
Synecdoche, New York - Makes you think

Some favourites off the top of my head. I watch a lot of movies so I can probably recommend more if you'll be more specific. However I don't really know many movies that makes you think in any other sense than being total mindfucks that you have to think to make sense of.

Watched Billy the Kid yesterday, that was pretty good. (Not about the outlaw, about a fifteen year old kid in Maine- documentary.)

Also, Donnie Darko, which I imagine you've seen.

Shoot the piano player is my all-time favorite. I'd say chances are good that the main character is an INTP. It's a French New Wave film, directed by Francois Truffaut. I dig all French New Wave, but that's definitely my favorite. But also- 400 Blows (not a porno), The Bicycle Thief (which isn't French New Wave- it's Italian), Jules and Jim, and Breathless. I think there is something about all of these films that an INTP can relate to- feeling deep inside but appearing emotionally detached and trying to over come it, an awkwardness in relationships, good writing, a unique perspective on the world, and excellent cinematography.

One of rare movies that came so close to the 'truth'. during the movie I had a feeling: 'this is what it is, so this is what really is..'
Movie in Charlie Kaufman's style, but much more complex than others he wrote screenplay for.

Also:
The fall- best photography ever.
Lust, caution- korean spy thriller (I thought about characters even days after..huh. very strong affect)
Spring, summer, fall, winter...and spring

It's a brilliant movie, I think it may be one of my favourites of all time. How that movie does not collapse under it's own ambition is beyond me - it tries to be everything, and it is everything.

Pi looks really interesting...Need to find a dl for it.

I don't like really old movies...probably anything older than 1990 I don't want to watch.

I watched it tonight and it was pretty incredible. Definitely not one for the masses. I identified with the lead character which is both depressing and motivating. But it reminded me that half of my life is already gone. :(

I could actually relate to the lead character as an artist. In fact, the entire movie spoke to me as an artist.

This movie takes place in (imo) the most beautiful spot on the planet. I love it sooooo much. Which makes me recommend Bin-jip ("3 Iron"). Kim Ke-duk is one of my favorite directors and these two are favorite films of mine. I've yet to see Beautiful; it looks like one of his creepier ones and don't think I should watch it just yet.

Movies I think INTP's might like:
My Life Without Me
Harold & Maude
5 Centimeters Per Second (watch in HD.)
Sweet and Lowdown

Pi, A Beautiful Mind, Groundhog Day, Dark City..

I'm going to rent Synecdoche, New York and The Fall ASAP - they look fantastic. And La Haine and Not One Less.

well aren't you close-minded. They aren't old movies. They're 'timeless.' Essentially the basis of what you'd consider to be indie filmmaking.

Don't mess with me. I was a Film Studies major. I am exceptionally qualified in sounding like I know what I'm talking about.

LoL. I know they can be good movies. But if I want something that has excellent story and narrative properties and poor video production, i'd rather just read a book.
