A friend wants to go see this, I'm a bit wary of it.

As of writing this (prior to the movie's release) the trailers and Wikipedia page are extremely sparse on details, all we know is that there's a guy, a girl, they crashed on a planet which is actually Earth 65 million years ago.

A setting and two characters does not a story make.

If it's just them being attacked by and fending off dinosaurs its going to be a really boring movie.

Its suspicious to me that they revealed something that's apparently a big revelation to the characters, effectively spoiling what should be a major plot point before the movie has even been released. Does that mean the marketing team is incompetent? That the movie is boring and they had to spoil something to at least make the trailers interesting? Or is it not actually a major plot point and the story is going to revolve around something else entirely?

To me it reeks of: We made a really shit movie with a premise that's going to piss people off (i.e. woke) so we need to hide everything about the movie and make it seem like some kind of sci-fi Jurassic Park because that will trick some people into buying tickets.

I could be wrong, there could be an amazing story and they just don't want to spoil it.

But if I'm right I bet he gets humiliated for being a toxic white male that uses violence to solve problems, whereas through the power of femininity girl boss attitude and empathy self righteous holier-than-thou energy the girl makes friends with the dinosaurs or something asinine like that.

I hope I'm wrong, I really do.

It's produced by Sam Raimi. So I'm hoping for some really weird & really twisted plotlines, something like Evil Dead or Darkman, or maybe something Strange.

I mean yeah in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy the entire point is the reveal, with the third class citizens(advertising agents, telephone sanitizers, hairdressers etc.) being stranded on a proto-earth after the other citizens, unbeknownst to them, set them on this crash course just to get rid of them.

Ford Perfect and Arthur interact with the primitive natives and only once Arthur sees the signature Norway Fjords does he go 'Oh shit we been on Earth all along.' Then 'oh shit the natives are dying the entire human race is descended from the dregs of another civilization' (Very british humor and a bit anti-human on the whole, the later books aren't my favorites but it's still a fun reveal all-in-all for a humorous book. I still like the previous books more though, the more things return to earth the more current and less whimsical the humor gets for me *shrug* haven't read in a long time.

This exact same thing happens in Futurama with Leela and Zapp actually. Onvce more the magic is in the reveal.

But thanks for telling me about this even if the story/characters end up sucking this is a movie i'll rip cos it will probably have cool visuals. Also I haven't watched many new movies lately.

It sounded like a Planet of the Apes scenario to me at first but if it's by Sam Raimi then I feel like there's more of a crude horror aspect to it?
