A friend wants to go see this, I'm a bit wary of it.
As of writing this (prior to the movie's release) the trailers and Wikipedia page are extremely sparse on details, all we know is that there's a guy, a girl, they crashed on a planet which is actually Earth 65 million years ago.
A setting and two characters does not a story make.
If it's just them being attacked by and fending off dinosaurs its going to be a really boring movie.
Its suspicious to me that they revealed something that's apparently a big revelation to the characters, effectively spoiling what should be a major plot point before the movie has even been released. Does that mean the marketing team is incompetent? That the movie is boring and they had to spoil something to at least make the trailers interesting? Or is it not actually a major plot point and the story is going to revolve around something else entirely?
To me it reeks of: We made a really shit movie with a premise that's going to piss people off (i.e. woke) so we need to hide everything about the movie and make it seem like some kind of sci-fi Jurassic Park because that will trick some people into buying tickets.
I could be wrong, there could be an amazing story and they just don't want to spoil it.
But if I'm right I bet he gets humiliated for being a toxic white male that uses violence to solve problems, whereas through the power offemininity girl boss attitude and empathy self righteous holier-than-thou energy the girl makes friends with the dinosaurs or something asinine like that.
I hope I'm wrong, I really do.
