Most Subtly Disturbing/Bizarre Avatar Contest

The word "subtly" is the key to this contest. Make it weird, make it unsettling, make it disturbing but the whole point is for avatars to be subtly so.

• I'll give everybody two weeks to come up with their submissions.

• Post an image of the avatar on this thread so that future generations of forum members might look back at our weirdness and sigh with regret.

• Wear the avatar till the contest is over with. Otherwise what's the point? No, don't answer that question. It was rhetorical.

• After the contest deadline I will make a new thread in which you can vote for the avatar you think is the most subtly disturbing.

• The winner will win bragging rights and...candy? Seriously I've got loads of the stuff sitting around. I'll mail you a box of candy if you really want...

Damn. Here I was figuring I was already entered. However I will give it a shot. Subtelty is not my strong suit so if I overdo it, no candy for me. (but I will hold you to the promise to send me some!)

Yeah, the subtly is put there in order to force a little creativity. It's not too hard to go with something overtly disturbing. Eh, have fun with it. No worries.

While I was looking for some examples of my very biased opinion of subtly disturbing I found a painting by Tetsuya Ishida:

It's not that he is part man and part bird but that the bird looks kind of broken.

Well, I actually thought about xenomorphs too in that context, and I wondered once upon a time if a human could give birth to a robot, the closest I could find was this and this.

You need to have seen Paprika to even remotely understand what's going on in this image. It's an interesting contrast to Inception, but Paprika did a much better job portraying the chaotic nature of dreams in my opinion.

Cue several hours of awkwardly trying to be supportive to my sister, and not knowing where to put my eyes. I was also the only person in the room who didn't cry besides the Doctor and nurses. I fail at humanity.

It's feasible, I'd have to break a few laws and procure some restricted materials, but it's entirely feasible, although there's about a 50/50 chance of the child being defective in some way, as a result of improper nutrition or some other element of the gestation process being overlooked.

Uh, yeah. Sure. It'd be hilarious to have a bunch of INTPforum members wandering around with disturbing avatars. Might scare away the noobs or maybe encourage a few to join.

On August 16th I'm going to have everybody make a final choice about which image they want to go with and then open a new thread with a poll. That'll go for a week. I think people who care should probably wear their avatars that week for advertising reasons. Then we'll know the winner and I'll send them candy!

I don't think so. I suspect the missing images have been sourced from sites that don't like such things. If it's a big deal people can save images to their computers, upload them to their image folder on their forum member page, and then source them for this thread from there. It's kind of a pain but it's the only way of being sure the images will stay for all eternity or the forum burns down.
