Sorry for the many topics, but I just got a marketing/marketable Idea about MBTI that I would like to share with you, but don't steal it please.. actually you can steal it, I don't care.

So there we go: wouldn't it be amazing if when attending a party you could know the exact type of every attending and pick/connect with likeminded? So, the idea is to create a concept around MBTI where people attending parties must-when entrance- pass an MBTI test , than wear MBTI type t-shirts(like "HI i'm an INTP and am the coolest of all types" ) that they bought like 5 $ when entering.

I would call it MBTI parties and I'm sure it would make many people happy :). Does it exist allready ? Do you think it could work ?

What do you think of this?

Thx for your insight.

I wouldn't need it, I can usually get a general sense of a persons type from the many clues they drop. Plus it's more interesting that way, if people had, say, nametags I think most of them would be wrong anyhow.

Yup. Definitely an INFJ; or ENFJ. I'm not sure, but surely 1 or the other. :)

You could have t-shirts describing what different people think your type is?

What might be interesting is if you had an envelope on your front then people could put in slips of paper guessing your type.

This idea is a actually panning out... The only problem I foresee is getting people from the internet to meet in real life. Do any of the typology forums have successful meets?

that idea has so much potentiality...

what if you played MBTI Bingo and the first one to get all 16 types in their envelope would win? Granted the party is sufficiently attended it should be possible.. crazy charades

yes but its not Bingo if you need all 16 types... dunno why I wrote that... it'd be better if you needed a minimum of 4 or something to get a Bingo

then again maybe its better to just go with "most types win"

I think if the group were complete strangers it might hasten people to judgment based on their preconceived notions.
i.e. "Eww a feeler. I hate feelers."

On the other hand, for people who at least vaguely know one another already it can be an interesting tool and spark some interesting insights.

Over at INTJf, the Toronto-area members have had a number of meetups and it has been fairly successful. We meet every 3-4 months and a variety of MBTIs have been represented, including a couple INTPs.
We usually draw about a half a dozen attendees at a time and that size seems pretty comfortable for us introverts.
We don't tend to spend the whole night talking about type, but if somebody relates an anecdote somebody else may point out elements of it that were characteristic of type. It's pretty fun but it does require leaving one's house.

It is a good lure to identify who is a bigot, so that one can better discriminate against them :phear:

Ah yes, the old "I'll reject you before you can reject me"! Always conducive to an awesome party. ;)

I'd go to one for a number of different reasons. I think, though, it'd be better if people's types weren't blatantly revealed (name tags; what have you) but instead everyone who attended just knew that it was a personality theory themed party and the fun part would be, like, trying to figure out people's types - except that wouldn't be the goal or anything. The focus would be to have a good time & what not, but in the back of everyone's head they know they are surrounded by folks relatively interested in MBTI!
Like, "Hey, that dude looks like INTP. I'll go say what's up to him."
or, "She might be ENTP. I'll try and start a convo and see how it goes."

Is that an ESTP? Maybe, maybe not.. Could be wrong. Kinda bored... I'll make my way over to the snack table and get a closer look.

Or something of the sort.

They have MBTI "get togethers" every few weeks in NYC. One of them actually was a party where we had tag for putting our type. Some of these people have been established for some time so they are pretty sophisticated. Not sure about what Architect said. The tags seemed accurate enough. Anyway they were good conversational leads.

Here is one for last Tuesday about "Your Money Mind: How Type Influences Our Attitude Toward Money & Financial Risk." I didn't go ... forgot about it. I'm willing to go to these things, but I find them draining.

If you're young and single it might be useful. I, for one, would go to the INFJ's like a fly on shit.

I don't quite understand. For what will you "go to the INFJs"?

Yup. Definitely an INFJ; or ENFJ. I'm not sure, but surely 1 or the other.

Why you say that dude? Actually It might be true(just broke with an ENFJ girl I admired a lot, and she taught me how to use Fe so good I use it quit a lot when with weak people, I mean this shit(Fe) is awsome, people get to like you like hell and you can manipulate them pretty easily.. my Ne was too wild) but the test always says INTP, and I recognize myself in INTP, but the more charming ones ;) ... But perhaps I'm somewhere between INFJ, INTJ and INTP.. I am INTP 5w4.

I don't quite understand. For what will you "go to the INFJs"?

I think Architect is an INTP 5w4, and.. have the feeling that INTP5w4 are attracted by INFJ's badly. Personnaly, if one girl is IN*J and sexy/classy above that... I fall. But they are hard to get and private girls... I always end with ENFJ, much easier.
But yeah, INFJ are damn fine .

Don't know about the Socionics but yes - I got lucky and married a sexy/classy INFJ. Heaven, even if they do go psycho occasionally.

ENFJ would have been interesting, but I have zero ability to spot them.

Yes, I'd probably spend most of my time explaining people that they are not the type they have (been) listed

Or, I'd run to INFPs and just stand there awkwardly in silence and harmony.

what's my type, own8ge?

i think type-parties should be themed around indulging into a function and anyone who likes the theme enough to surrender to it is welcome ...

(only, there is no way you can communicate the concept of a theme to most people...)

What does "psycho" refer to? It sounds like the rumbling and squealing of distant tank treads.

I'd honestly find it pretty interesting if you tried to explain to me that I wasn't whatever type I was listed as

It sounds like it'd be better if you weren't forced to wear the type name tag IDs.

I think I knew this cool INFJ chick a few years ago (tutor for this one class) but... It didn't work out. Not exactly sure why I think she's INFJ... Just given my experience with MBTI it just makes the most sense. I thought there was some initial attraction at first but I ruined it by kinda forcing it. Then she started bringing some macho dude from her class to the tutoring sessions. Meh, I don't wanna reminisce over all the pain & embarrassment. All I can say is valuable lessons were learned.

Haha, she deleted me off facebook sometime last year too. She posted her New Year's Resolutions, with the third being "to stay single for an entire year" and I commented "lol @ number 3" and five minutes later I was off her friend list (fun fact: she's the one that originally sent me a friend request). I saw her later that year too in a coffee shop with an asian man... The dude she was dating at the time. We both saw each other, said nothing. I saw her on campus not that long ago too. Anyway. Not sure if she is even INFJ... If I had to guess what her type would be I'd go with that though. Don't really see what else it could be, maybe INFP or something, if anyone wants to postulate based off the skimp data provided.

Actually MBTI is a pretty common conversation topic irl, not just among INTPs. If that counts as an MBTI party then I have been at several.

Politics is too sensitive sometimes, science/tech is boring to many, shopping/food/daily stuff can get boring eventually, and so we talk about...hey presto! Our own personalities (i.e. MBTI type). Sufficiently theoretical/abstract/intellectual while being almost-gossippy (it is after all about people).

Yeah, I'd probably be more annoyed and want to go home because of all the discrepancies in the nametags. Not much of a fun party.
