I wonder if your parents types somehow make your type. For example my mom is INFP and my dad is INTJ and I am an INTP. I am guessing that I "got" my I and N from both parents, my T from my dad, and my P from my mom. However my sister is ENFP, so maybe parts of your personality type can be given recessively. I guess what I am wondering is if there is any evidence that your personality is given to you through your genes. What are your parents types and what is yours?

Mother: ENFP
Father: ISTJ
Me: INxP (Not sure yet, my girlfriend says I'm definitely an INTP)
Sister: ESFJ (Although I think it's to early to judge)
Brother: ENTP (Same for my brother)

I come from a family with kind of a lot variety, interesting. Then again, I might have mistyped them.
I don't really see any logic in my family, do you? All I see is that my parents divided it pretty evenly. Also, my parents are opposites - WOW! Mind blowing!

I said this in another thread with this theme...and I'll say it again.

Genetics really is a lot more complex than just your immediate parentage.

see above.

genetics have some role in your personality development, i'm sure. but you can't make a punnet square out of personality types or anything, it just doesn't work.

for the record, my dad is an ESTJ and my mom is an INFP. so i guess that means i could be ANYTHING!

Hmm, interesting. I don't know what type my mother is... But I'd say
Mother: ESFP
Father: INFP
Me: INTP

Where I got the T from remains a mystery then?

Maybe the universe made you a T in order to compensate for the T'less of your family :O

Sure genetics is complex, heck even if it wasn't the MBTI would not simply add up because different type dynamics would produce different parenting methods and other variables would add to that aswell.

But I think this thread is less serious than actually discussing that, I think it'll be fun to know the MBTI types for the parents of the people lurking around here in the forums, even if it means it wont be of any importance here.

Then it would be more productive if you pointed us to the already existing thread about it, won't it?

Otherwise, let the fun (re) begin!

Instead of 1,2,3...
give us the ...1500,1501,1502...!
