ditto. it's essentially a social media site, and I have never been great--or interested in--creating and sustaining online personas. but it is nice to see frequent job postings in the field I hope to enter when I graduate.

3/5 stars

I receive communications from potential employers on the service, so it is nice.

I don't care for it nor any major social media site. I had headhunters on me constantly. DrZ would you like to come work for us? I only did it because it was a requirement of a job I didn't have for a very long time. They wanted all of the employees and contractors on there so something, something, something. I don't know; I wasn't there long.

I guess if you're the kind of person who wants a social resume of sorts, it could be advantageous, but it's not for me.

My college is really pushing us to use Linkedin. I forgot my password and Linkedin is asking for a photo ID in order to recover the account. I don't know what to think about that.

What? Seriously? :D

I think it really depends on the industry you work in. I'm in Digital Marketing, so for me it's important. I've been contacted by head hunters through it and got one job (that I declined in the end, but I had other plans).

Job 1 after university - Got it 'cold calling' on linkedin
Job 2 - Recruiter
Job 3 - Went in for an interview but was rejected. Added the hiring manager on linkedin. 1 year later he called me in for an interview.

It my experience it has been a success. I have asked people for opinions of companies and industries. It has always worked for me.
