I was joking around with a friend about an INTP-ruled society. And I used the term "INTPaucracy" and then decided I should google it to see if anything came up. Nothing did, but "INTPocracy" got a result!

That would lead to the idea the main character in Crime and Punishment had: There are special people who should not be restricted by law since they are the creators that make humanity advance, and new things will most likely go against the old, common people should obey them.

So. Let's discuss this more fully.

1. What would it look like? What kind of structures/dynamics would we form?
2. How would an INTPocracy arise?
3. How would future generations of INTPs be identified & vetted to be an INTPocrat?
4. Would the rest of the population even know it's happening?
5. Is this a good solution for government?

How would an INTPocracy arise?
Well a technocracy would be mostly comprised of NT types, particularly INTJs & INTPs and post-singularity most governmental issues would be of a philosophical nature, but that's not really governance in the traditional sense is it?

What would it look like? What kind of structures/dynamics would we form?
Y'know the basic government stuff, committees that don't really achieve anything because nobody really wants them to achieve anything, aside from providing peace of mind by simply being there.

I think INTP's are just as susceptible to corruption, fraud, and evil as anyone else. There are probably already a number of INTP's in a lot of western governments (at least a lot of NT's, I would assume).

So, I imagine this thread is more like "what would it be like if the members of this forum ran a country?" I think there would be a lot of interesting discussion about how to solve problems, but no decisive conclusions drawn from it. I think there would be a lot of pie-in-the-sky ideas that everyone would run with, but they would have little to no bearing on reality. I think an INTPocracy would only arise from a society that is already all INTP's because: a) INTP's generally seem to shun leadership and responsibility; b) most non-INTP's wouldn't give INTP's the time of day when it comes to their approach to problem solving and c) the vast majority of INTP's are very libertarian, so they would not do much in terms of preserving their power (if one was so inclined to even seek it) and would be overthrown quite hastily.

so, how would be the: economic structure, social structure, type of government etc.? All based on our type characteristics...

Like madness*. Minds and arms flailing about like a veritable chicken with its head cut off. Aside from that, there would be alot of information just lying around about how a society should behave. I imagine some of this would form the culture. There would likely be much tolerance towards freedom of expression and cats would be the official animal, among other things. The overall structure would be chaotic, but would somehow make sense.

This is hard to imagine. It would have to be by mistake. Perhaps if the qualities that cause someone to be a leader were aligned with INTP qualities, INTPs may find themselves forced to lead. Some may give us the job, believing us to be the only ones sensible enough to do it (big mistake btw, heh). To nudge us further, they may bribe us with access to advanced technology, or access to the company fridge. It depends on mood, really.

How would future generations of INTPs be identified & vetted to be an INTPocrat?

Well that's the age old MBTI question: How do you prove someone's type? Who would be fit to determine that others are INTPs, and then which positions they should fill? Many would claim 'INTPship' for the perks included. Hopefully there will be advances in typing that will make distinctions more clear. Still, there will need to be an xNTJ to do the vetting, I think.

Would the rest of the population even know it's happening?

No, they rarely know much of anything. And it's not like INTPs are extroverts or something. (Note: exceptions may include drunken INTPocrats -- and we all know what happens to those unable to keep their mouths shut... they are ruthlessly mocked and then promptly ignored)

Is this a good solution for government?

Of course not, but it's not like any of the other governments are good either. Like most other endeavors, it will be done for the hell of it, because it seemed like a good idea at the time, and will then be deeply regretted later. This is exactly why we should do it.
