Food? Music? Art? Architecture? Sports? Holidays?
Whatever you think is relevant to culture.

Just make up stuff.

Or if it must be a question then either what is INTP culture and/or what is your cultural fantasy, like discribe the perfect country to go visit.

I suggest the following holidays:

Jan 1 - Orbit day
Celebrates another year without being hit by a giant meteor

April 1 - April Fool's
Because it had to be a holiday at some point in history

First Monday in September - No Labor Day
A day to celebrate holidays

<foundation date>
Celebrates the funding of the INTP land (just another excuse for beer and not working)

Every monday is 'be social day', opposed to every other day of the week, during which we lock ourselves up and spend the entire day on our computers.

Monday because... Well, anyone with a regular job or school should understand.

Sports -> esports, perhaps? <:

Whatever tasted good? I think that'd stay pretty similar to our world's food. If I had my way, though, onions, lettuce and tomatoes would all be destroyed and never mentioned again as they are the world's biggest culinary mistake. Especially onions. Fuck onions.

Pretty similar to the real world, again. I've notice on here and the INTP subforum of PersonalityCafe that even INTPs have a fairly wide range of musical interest and I think we'd create a full range of genres. The hip-hop, party rock crap and country music I don't know how prevalent they'd be, but I assume at least some INTPs would be into it.

Predominantly abstract, maybe? Heavy in terms of symbolism and implied meaning. I dunno, I'm not much of an art person.

Architecture?

A lot more function driven over the aesthetic. It'd still look elegant, but I'd figure that most designs would be made to be functional and then touched up to look cool. Kind of like Bauhaus or something, I'd think.

They'd take a huge backseat in comparison to our world. Most INTPs don't seem to be into sports and those that do play sports (myself included) I would guess aren't big on watching the sports. There would be no lack of competitive spirit, though. If I had to say, I'd figure that sports/competitions become a lot less physical and more of a solitary, intellectual deal (Rubik's Cube solving competitions anyone? :D (my fastest time is 39 seconds)). And the spectator aspect of it would fade a lot. Watching sports is boring and lame.

Holidays?

I'm not a big fan of the idea of holidays. Religious holidays are wanky (especially since they're technically just pagan holidays that have been repurposed), I don't think birthdays are really a reason to celebrate, I doubt people like Lincoln and Jefferson would really want us to stop doing anything for a day just because they were cool guys, etc. That said, I do like that random days are set aside where I don't have to do work. Three day weekends are nice, and excuses to engage in the consumption of certain substances are also welcome, so I'm sure we wouldn't have a hard time inventing a reason to make holidays.

The only onions I will eat are deep fried onion rings. I actually like onion rings, frying them takes away all the texture of the onion itself which is my main problem with onions as it is. Beyond that, I will not eat onions.

Fuck onions.

I see the INTP macro-cosmos represented in my micro-cosmic idea of the ultimate home:

INTP houses would be designed by many small INTP architect firms to suit each individuals personal preference for space, utilisation of space, and as an abstract and also highly functional representation of their inner world.

For example, my house would be a small, minimalistic, ultramodern design with plenty of covered outdoor area so that I could enjoy scenery from all sections of the house. Solar panels would generate electricity and heat water, etc. I would trap rainwater in large tanks, and recycle all waste water through a communal multiple reed pond system, which would create habitat for wildlife and birds in close vicinity.

Internally the kitchen would be the main hub of the house, completely set up like a professional kitchen with stone surfaces all around and industrial type equipment for easy and effortless creation of highly nutritional meals. Adjacent would be a library/meditation/thinking room which would have walls lined with bookshelves and comfortable seats and floor cushions all around.

A separate area for entertainment: I always wanted a pool table, so a room dedicated to "INTP sports" such as darts, chess, pool, poker, etc...even an Ouija board for the more "out-there" mystical nights with a couple of friends ;)

I would also like an atelier/workshop/laboratory complete with microscopes, chemistry equipment, camera gear, dark room, stuff for painting and electrical tools for fixing/inventing or building stuff.

A small observatory connected to my bedroom which would have partial glass ceiling that could be electronically darkened to shut out all light.

As far as furniture and other house necessities are concerned, everything would be designed with the idea of functional art; ergonomically designed as well as aesthetically pleasing using recycled materials where possible, and a subdued colour scheme for an overall calming effect.

Everything would be of a functional industrial as well as aesthetically pleasing design by many different talented designers and artists; the equipment would be sold through a co-op system which would exclude the middle-men, hence it would generate more work for small businesses and encourage personal invention.

I would fill the whole house with green plants which would give the place an overall lush look to break with the ultramodern designs, these would generate enough oxygen and keep the indoor air at optimal quality during the winter months.

And of course a music room, complete with Hi-Fi set up, computers for composing; a piano, violin and my vast music collection :rolleyes:, turntable, etc...

I can see an INTP culture as a larger version of my personal home, the culture would be based on learning, exploring, new invention, personal expression through the arts and sciences as the appreciation for art in all its forms is another form of scientific expression, or you could also reverse it and say that science could be artful....they go hand in hand and are equally fascinating.

And one would not need long holidays as a society based on this kind of lifestyle would produce content individuals with less longing for escape. One's work would be enjoyable, and one's home would be a sanctuary; sustainable living would require one to work shorter hours as the energy bills and rental fees would be more or less a thing of the past.....

And humans would have the required spare energy, calm and subsequent inspiration in order to evolve as a more noble, intelligent and refined species.

I like Polaris's idea. However, I doubt that this society of thinkers would be complete without jet-packs. Nothing could be better for escaping into yourself than the fresh, bracing air at 35,000 feet. It would certainly provide a bird's eye view of many problems: for example, the design of transportation systems. Of course, there's also the fun of racing your friends down city streets at half the speed of sound.

In fact, as mayor of INTP-Land, I'd fund the construction of an entire empty city devoted to the sole purpose of urban adventuring. In an odd twist, those wishing to enter the city would not be allowed to bring anything in the way of maps: thus, there would be an eternal mystery for everyone to enjoy. It's just like what Feynman said, we love not knowing. The thought of an entire uncharted city to explore makes me salivate with excitement.

In addition, if we could get the funding for it, I'd give engineers, artists, and architects blank slates in the empty city and build each block on huge ball bearings located 200m below the surface to allow for subterranean adventures. Then, I'd use a random number generator to move these blocks around when nobody is looking. To enhance the sense of solitude and mystery, I'd never let anything therein be demolished so that the city would grow, and grow, and grow. Combine that with Jet-Packs and super-jump-boots (a la Portal) and you've got the ultimate playground.

Moreover, I'd keep the city at a cool, refreshing 18 degrees Celsius and have large clouds periodically pass through to prevent any overheating (I hate hot days). However, every day there would be sunny and just wet enough so that one doesn't lose water by breathing. In other words, perfect weather every day. However, I'd implement fog, cloud, rain, lightning, and snow machines in areas where the art demands such weather.

It would be so much fun to explore the city, especially if I could build it on a huge rock tower with much of the bottom carved out. Or, even better, have multiple cities, each based on a different theme! The possibilities are endless!

Yeah, I'd just focus on creating advanced simulator goggles/helmet that can create one's own personal virtual reality with relative ease, and is firmly connected to the mind.

Once I have created this helmet, and have established that they function, I will proceed to mass production and distribution of the helmet; I will be working with several (rebellious) people across the globe who have considerable influence over the workings of society. All the economics will be taken care of.

It is here, that abolishment of the system, followed by mass-destruction of human construction will occur. There will be absolutely nothing man-made but the helmet and good ol' nature, which will provide us with the nutrition necessary to survive. The wearing of the helmet would essentially be all there is. For those indigenous tribes who live in harmony with nature, the helmet will not be obligatory. Actually, the wearing of the helmet is completely your choice.

Whilst wearing the helmet, the human being will have no sensation of his physical body, thus rendering shelter relatively useless. However, very basic shelter and protective gear will be provided to decrease risk of damage to the physical body. As said before, if nutrition is proved to be essential in the physical world, the minimum amount for each individual will be calculated, and provided by nature. The physical world will have absolutely no other use.

If one decides to completely abandon the physical world, I will have also worked on another project, that consists of a colossal hole for cryopreservation, simply jump in - with the knowledge that resuscitation will not be possible, however, you will be forever immersed in your virtual world, with no requirement for physical world interaction. If you ever decide to end it all, you will also have that option, the goggles will be designed to allow the user to consciously switch the goggles off. This will allow you to step into the physical world, however, if you lay inside the colossal hole, this decision would mean certain death.

This is an extremely green project.
The physical world will be a much more beautiful place.

Ah... One day.

Considering that there is no objective meaning to "real" life, living inside such a game world would actually permit existentialism to work: games, unlike life, are works of art, which can therefore be interpreted, and from which meaning can be drawn. It would also make much of the sciences moot, for who needs philosophy (the mother of all sciences) when you can just the universal truths yourself?

However, a certain part of me feels a pang of guilt in retreating into this virtual world; that I am somehow surrendering, giving up, or being weak; that I must achieve glory by accomplishment not in a virtual world of my own creation, but the one presented me. And yet, what is the point? What do I care what others think of me based on this criterion? If I want to make up my own reality and live by own rules within it, then who is to stop me?

@Polaris what is stopping you - your P?

@~~~ Poking Polaris again? :beatyou::beatyou::beatyou:

...And to answer your question...(or was that an insult? :confused:)

Nothing.

Familiarity scares the crap out of me. P has never stopped me, it just means I get distracted easily. Rather than following the generic fast & furious freeway I seem to get carried by curiosity down life's numerous sidetracks and alleyways.
