Are these your insights? Trust nothing to cease any disappointment. This can never be truly carried out. In order to do this you have to trust who told you to do it, which goes against what you're supposed to be doing, or to initially place your trust somewhere and then be let down and learn from that experience.

To solely do this would be to live in a shell of ignorance which could be as equally detrimental to the trust you misplaced.

I have to say, Bock... these quotes are fairly obtuse. Would you clarify what you're trying to suggest or show with them?

I understand that to completely compress something, that thing would appear totally random to us. If so, let's say we totally compress our theories regarding how the universe operates. The resultant theories then would be completely random.

Schopenhauer was the original grumpy old man.

In theory one could live a perfectly satisfactory life devoid of dreams and ambitions but people don't live to be happy, as Schopenhauer himself said (paraphrased) to live is to suffer.

The Buddhist strive to be happy in a sense so their goal is to not want. Living is not the problem. Wanting to live is the problem. Not wanting to live is the problem. The solutions is to let it be what it is. We are to experience what is, to not hold on, or let go but to just let it flow on it's own accord.

Schopenhauer has been called a western Buddhist, likewise one could say Buddhists are just eastern existentialists, the real difference is cultural rather than philosophical as Schopenhauer also thought that one's goal should be to minimise suffering by forgoing desires.

I however disagree, to forgo desire is to reject oneself and for now that is not a luxury we have, it's like telling a gay person to just pretend they're straight, sure it's possible by it's by no means a solution when you merely trade one problem for another.

If to live is to suffer then suffer and enjoy bitching about it I say :D

The point of it is that there is no Self.
