I've been fascinated by MBTI for about 4 years and the J/P dichotomy hasn't been too difficult (usually). My husband was an ENTJ.

As a young adult my introversion was already well developed - I was loaner. Becoming a healthy adult is a challenge for all types, each erring in different directions. Given the chance we do grow and mellow. - - Though I'm not sure what you mean by 'extreme'?
Freaks? I don't think so... and macho status has to be earned...
